Faye Fisher woke up very early. She had planned to go back to the hospital to stay with Mr. Jacobs, but Mrs. Jacobs saw her pale face and swollen eyes. She refused to let Faye go and thoughtfully sent her back home to rest.

She drifted back to sleep and was now wide awake.

Faye Fisher went to look in the mirror. Staring at her still-swollen, red eyes, she vaguely recalled the absurd thing she’d done last night, and mixed feelings welled up inside her.

There was happiness, but also pain.

’I’m happy because I saw Wyatt Wynn again. I really love seeing him, love every single second I’m with him.’

’The painful part is that I can’t be with him all the time. When I open my eyes, I’m still Brandon Jacobs’s wife in name.’

Faye Fisher went downstairs, her stomach feeling a little upset. The housekeeper had warmed up some congee and brought it to her.

"Young Madam, please have something to eat. Before the madam left, she specifically instructed me to make sure you eat when you wake up. Your health is the most important thing, or else she’ll worry."

Faye Fisher didn’t have much of an appetite, but not wanting to worry Mrs. Jacobs, she began to eat slowly and deliberately.

The housekeeper had nothing else to do, so she stood by and continued to advise her.

"The master and madam hope you and the young master can have a child soon. You should try to avoid drinking from now on, it’s not good for the baby, Young Madam..."

A child.

Faye Fisher’s heart skipped a beat, and her appetite vanished completely.

’There’s nothing wrong with her marriage of convenience to Brandon Jacobs. Nothing wrong with them both doing their own thing. But to have a child that isn’t his during the marriage... that would be unconscionable.’

’Yesterday, Wyatt Wynn had wanted to go buy condoms, but I stopped him. Now, I have to face the consequences myself.’

Faye Fisher was about to leave when the housekeeper quickly called for the butler.

"The madam said you shouldn’t go to the hospital today. You should rest well at home. If you feel bored and insist on going out, have the butler drive you. I’m afraid you haven’t sobered up yet, and it’s not safe for you to drive."

’How could I go buy the morning-after pill with the butler tailing me?’ Faye decided not to go out at all.

But if she didn’t go out...

An idea struck her. Faye Fisher thought of Amina.

’Wouldn’t it be perfect to have her buy the medicine and bring it over?’

Soon, Amina arrived at the villa’s gate, holding a box of takeout.

Faye Fisher had someone let her in, and the two sat down to chat in the garden gazebo.

Amina was very grateful for her advice at the hospital.

"I took my grandmother to Concord Hospital for a follow-up. Just as you said, there was nothing wrong. They must have made a mistake. Thank heavens, I can finally stop worrying. It’s all thanks to you, Miss Fisher. Otherwise, we’d be..."

Faye Fisher felt it was nothing, just a small gesture.

"Besides that, is your grandmother feeling unwell in any other way?"

"No, just that her vision is getting blurrier and she can’t see clearly. I’ve consulted a doctor, and they said it’s glaucoma. Surgery could improve it, but since she’s old, there’s a certain risk. It might not even work..."

Faye Fisher cut her off. "That just means their skills aren’t good enough. They’re saying that to shirk responsibility. If your grandmother is otherwise healthy, she still has good years ahead of her. How awful would it be to lose her sight? As it happens, my husband knows the director of Central Hospital. If you don’t mind, I can make a call and arrange for a specialist to perform her surgery. It will definitely improve things a lot."

Amina was ecstatic.

They were practically strangers, yet Faye Fisher was not only beautiful but also kind-hearted, willing to help her with something so significant.

"Miss Fisher, you’re so kind. I don’t know how I can ever thank you..."

"Just live well and keep getting better. Letting me experience the joy of helping someone is the best reward you could give me."

Faye Fisher swallowed the pill and said to Amina.

"I’m going to the hospital right now. You should bring your grandmother along. I want to get this arranged for you as soon as possible."

Perhaps her life was too boring and she wanted to enrich it by helping the less fortunate. Or perhaps she and Amina were fated to meet. In any case, Faye Fisher was simply willing to help.

Someone was offering to find a specialist for her—forget a simple delivery job, Amina would have dropped even the most important work for this.

She quickly stood up.

"Okay, I’ll go get my grandmother right now. I’ll see you at the hospital entrance."

It was nearly noon, and the sun was already scorching. Thinking about how difficult and dangerous it would be for her to ride an electric delivery scooter through the streets and alleys with an old woman on the back, Faye Fisher said,

"I’ll go with you. Your grandmother has probably never been in a sports car. How about she rides with me? I can take her for a spin."

Amina’s face instantly turned red.

Her grandmother really hadn’t ever been in a sports car.

They had seen cool, toy-like sports cars on the street before, and her grandmother had even wondered aloud what it would feel like to sit in one. She never thought that wish would come true today.

"Is that okay? Won’t it be too much trouble for you?"

Faye Fisher smiled. "I wouldn’t have suggested it if it was too much trouble. Since I brought it up, it means I’m happy to do it. You don’t have to be so polite with me. Let’s go."

Amina sent the address to her phone and left to get her electric scooter. Faye Fisher went back inside to grab her car keys and change her clothes.

Just as she reached the villa’s entrance, the little dog Mrs. Jacobs had raised for years ran toward her.

Faye Fisher didn’t like small animals. No matter how clean they were washed or how beautifully they were groomed, she could always faintly smell a strange odor on them.

But to keep Mrs. Jacobs happy, she always pretended to adore the dog, so the dog loved to cling to her.

Now, seeing the dog dashing toward her, Faye Fisher instinctively tried to dodge, but the dog still yelped and jumped up, planting its paws on her leg.

Faye Fisher had no choice but to pick it up, rub its head, and comfort it.

"Alright, alright, I know you’re happy. I got your greeting. Go on and play by yourself now."

The dog whimpered and whined, refusing to get down and trying to snuggle into her arms.

Faye Fisher went to rub its belly. The moment her hand touched its stomach, she felt a strange, sticky, gooey sensation, accompanied by a sour, foul smell.

She quickly flipped the dog over to look. Good grief, it had diarrhea.

Its snow-white fur was stained with a greenish liquid. Her stomach churned, and Faye Fisher nearly threw up.

The housekeeper rushed over. "Young Madam, are you all right? Baleh has a bit of diarrhea today. I was just about to take him to the vet. How did he get to you? Oh my, look, he’s gotten you all dirty! I just gave him a bath, and now he’s a mess again. I’ll take him back to wash him. Young Madam, you should hurry back and get cleaned up too."

As she spoke, the dog stared with its big, watery eyes and let out another stream.

Not only did it get all over Faye Fisher’s hand, but the smell... it shot straight to her head.

Faye Fisher couldn’t care about anything else. She tossed the dog onto the grass and bolted back into the villa.

The world spun around her as Faye Fisher vomited her guts out into the toilet.

The housekeeper followed her in. "Young Madam, are you all right?"

She shook her head, got up to rinse her mouth, and took a moment to recover.

"I’m fine. I’m going to the hospital. You should hurry and take the dog to the vet."

Amina arrived at the base of the apartment building first. She parked her electric scooter and was about to go upstairs to get her grandmother when someone suddenly grabbed her clothes from behind.
