My Celestial Ascension

Chapter 921 921: The Vampire Queen

A few moments later, Butler Sebastian entered the room and bowed respectfully to King Evander.

“Your Majesty, the Queen has returned from the banquet… She is currently in her chambers changing,” Butler Sebastian informed.

King Evander nodded and said, “Alright. Tell her to come here as soon as she is finished. Inform her that we are receiving important guests today.”

“I will do as you command, Your Majesty,” Butler Sebastian replied before leaving the room immediately.

“That was our butler, Sebastian. He has served our family for more than a thousand years. He is the one person I trust most, aside from my wife,” King Evander explained to Yuan and the others once Sebastian departed.

Inside one of the castle’s luxurious chambers, a woman was changing her dress, her movements graceful yet strangely deliberate.

Knock! Knock!

A sudden knock sounded at the door, but she continued what she was doing without even glancing toward it.

“Your Highness, His Majesty is currently attending to guests. He requests that you meet them as soon as you are ready,” Sebastian’s voice came from the other side.

“Tell him that I will be there shortly,” she responded in a calm, measured tone.

“I understand, Your Highness,” Sebastian replied, and the sound of his footsteps gradually faded away.

“Just what kind of guests is my husband attending to? And why do I smell the scent of humans… and even an angel?” She paused, a puzzled expression crossing her face.

“I must go and see for myself. What in the world has happened while I was away at the banquet…” she muttered before finishing her preparations.

She moved through the hallway with elegance, her long dress gliding across the floor, her feet completely hidden beneath the flowing fabric.

As she approached the door, she could already hear voices from within, and the unfamiliar scent grew stronger.

‘Over a thousand years have passed since I last saw a human… I wonder how their blood will taste after all this time…’ Her red eyes glowed for a brief moment before she took a steady breath and opened the door.

Inside the room, her gaze immediately fell upon Princess Nerith, and a look of surprise appeared on her face.

“Princess Nerith, what a pleasant surprise… I didn’t expect you to visit us unannounced,” she said with a warm smile as she stepped inside.

“Your Highness Carmilla, it has been a while since we last met. How have you been?” Nerith greeted her with a smile.

“I have been quite well. And you? Still fighting endlessly?” Carmilla—the Vampire Queen—replied with a soft smile.

“Yes, I cannot abandon my habits so easily, can I?” Nerith chuckled. “But I am doing well.”

Queen Carmilla then looked at Yuan and the others with curiosity before turning back to Nerith.

“Who are these lovely guests? Would you mind introducing them to me?” she asked, a mysterious glint in her eyes that did not go unnoticed by Yuan and the others.

‘This woman… So this is the Queen of the Vampires. She truly carries the aura of a queen,’ Anna Grace thought as she observed Carmilla.

Nerith nodded with a smile and began introducing everyone to her.

“I must say… I never expected to see humans in the Demonic Continent after such a long time. It is quite a surprise,” Carmilla let out a soft laugh.

‘These humans… they feel very unusual. I have the strange sense that I should not offend them under any circumstances… How interesting,’ she thought while observing Yuan and the others, a feeling she had never experienced before.

Shortly afterward, Nerith explained the entire reason for her visit to the Vampire Kingdom to Queen Carmilla, shocking her to the core.

“Unbelievable… to think those vile creatures are planning to attack us, and we didn’t even know it! This is simply absurd!” she covered her mouth with her hands, clearly in disbelief.

Nerith nodded and said, “Unfortunately, this is the truth we must face. The Undead King is marching toward our border with over a million undead soldiers. Their intentions are quite obvious, and I don’t think they need further explanation.”

“I have already spoken with His Majesty about our cooperation, and in a short while, the heads of all noble families will arrive to discuss this matter in greater detail,” Nerith finished with a heavy sigh.

For the next few minutes, the entire room fell into silence.

Queen Carmilla’s forehead was covered in sweat as the severity of the situation settled in. A chill ran down her spine as she imagined the sheer number of undead soldiers.

“This is terrible… we must immediately mobilize all our forces toward the border,” she said, looking at her husband with concern. “Otherwise, our survival will become impossible once they cross.”

“Do not worry, my Queen. The heads of the noble families will arrive shortly. Let us discuss everything properly with them,” King Evander said, trying to comfort her.

Some time later, Queen Carmilla spoke again. “I have prepared a few guest rooms for you all. Until the nobles arrive, why don’t you take some rest?”

“There is no need. We’re not tired at all,” Yuan replied casually.

“I see… in that case, why don’t I show you around our city?” Carmilla suggested with a smile.

“That would be wonderful. We will gladly accept,” Rose responded with a smile.

Carmilla stood up from the sofa and said, “Then let us go. I will show you around the city. The culture here is quite different from that of humans, after all.”

Several moments later, they stood in the middle of the city, and every vampire on the streets was staring at them—some puzzled, others surprised.

“Look! It’s Her Highness! She’s taking a stroll through the city!”

Someone shouted from afar, causing all eyes to turn toward Yuan and the others.

“Indeed! It’s her! But why is Her Highness accompanying those unknown people?!”

“Look carefully! That’s the Princess of the Demon Kingdom!”

“What?! That ruthless woman with such wild behavior is here?! But why??”

Upon hearing those remarks, Nerith gritted her teeth in frustration. She couldn’t help but wonder if she was truly as wild and dangerous as people claimed. Am I really that ruthless?

She found it hard to believe that people viewed her as a villain.

Queen Carmilla noticed the look on her face and said gently, “Do not take their words seriously. They simply believe whatever rumors they hear. Let us just enjoy the scenery and the atmosphere of the city.”

“I don’t take their words seriously. If I did, they wouldn’t still have their heads on their shoulders,” Nerith replied with a faint smile.
