My Cat Turned Beastman Won't Stop Kissing My Neck
Chapter 170: Who Is Your Favorite Person?
"I’m an adult!" Li Jiu’s voice went up several octaves in his anxiety, like a whimpering puppy.
After a pause, he added haltingly, "But... but it’s not the same kind of relationship as the Young Master and... and you."
After speaking, he glanced up at Wen Qian, then quickly lowered his head again, his face flushed red as he shifted his feet restlessly on the ground.
Wen Qian’s mouth fell slightly open. Realizing her misunderstanding, she suddenly felt a bit embarrassed. She quickly turned her head to the side and coughed lightly, trying to hide her awkwardness while muttering indistinctly, "Right, I get it."
"What is it you ’get’?" The Little Fox’s narrow eyes narrowed dangerously, his gaze seemingly able to see through everything. His voice was thick with displeasure.
Then, as Wen Qian averted her gaze, the Little Fox continued, "I heard you married Chi Heng. Should we give you a wedding gift?"
"How much?" Wen Qian blurted out subconsciously. The moment the words left her mouth, she wished she could bite her tongue off.
"?"
"No, I mean, you don’t have to..."
Wen Qian wished she could find a hole to crawl into, mentally cursing her own damn reflexes.
’Even though I’ve forgotten so much, my fundamental love for money hasn’t changed one bit.’
The Little Fox was thoroughly infuriated by her. His chest heaved, and his tail thrashed behind him, yet he was completely powerless against her.
’If this were before, I would’ve already lost my temper. But Wen Qian has amnesia now. I can’t really hold a grudge against someone with no memory, can I?’
’No... The more I think about it, the angrier I get.’ His two tails whipped about behind him, fighting each other as if to vent his current displeasure.
He had to find a way to make Wen Qian regain her memories as soon as possible.
Qi Ke and Yin Zhi exchanged a look, understanding each other instantly.
The two of them deftly grabbed a small stool each and, with a THUD, sat down firmly in front of Wen Qian, calling it by the fine-sounding name of "helping her find her memories."
"You used to like me the most. You were always hugging me, hugging my tail..."
The Little Fox spoke first, a smug look on his face as his tail swayed unconsciously.
"She won’t remember anything if you just make up stories."
Yin Zhi cut the Little Fox off coldly, a mocking sneer on his lips. His tone suggested he was stating the obvious.
"You..."
The Little Fox was rendered speechless, his eyes wide as if he wanted to eat Yin Zhi alive.
Wen Qian tilted her head, her movement tinged with a hint of naive confusion, as if she were genuinely contemplating it.
’This fox man in front of me is so alluring. Never mind before, just looking at him now makes me feel an inexplicable fondness. But the one next to him is also incredibly handsome. I’ve seen his picture on my phone, and his figure is great too...’
"The one you like most is me. Our Tiger Clan is the most powerful race, and you promised to form a Contract with me and become the Young Master’s wife..."
Not to be outdone, Yin Zhi straightened his back, his face filled with pride.
"Aren’t you just making up stories too!"
The Little Fox stomped his feet in anger, pointing at Yin Zhi’s nose, his voice cracking.
"That’s what she was thinking in her heart! I was just voicing her true inner thoughts at the time!"
Yin Zhi raised an eyebrow, speaking with righteous confidence.
"..."
For a moment, the scene was at a stalemate. Wen Qian swallowed and quietly scooted her chair back. She had a strong feeling that these two, in all likelihood, were trying to trick her.
Sure enough, just a second later, Qi Ke and Yin Zhi turned their gazes to Wen Qian in perfect sync, as if by a prearranged signal.
"Who do you believe?"
The two asked in unison, their voices overlapping with an oppressive force that allowed no refusal.
Wen Qian subconsciously raised a hand and pointed at herself, her face a picture of disbelief.
’Who are they asking? Me? Haven’t I lost my memory?! Are these two idiots or what?!’
Wen Qian’s head was spinning. She couldn’t understand how someone with amnesia like herself had gotten dragged into this bizarre "struggle."
"A Mian, food! I want to eat! I’m hungry! When... when will the food be ready?"
Swallowing hard, Wen Qian seemed to have made up her mind and shouted at the top of her lungs.
She was determined to see her "playing dumb" act through to the end. Seizing the moment while Qi Ke and Yin Zhi were stunned, she jumped off her chair and turned to run towards her room.
’I know in my heart that I can’t believe a single word either of them says!’
Just then, Gu Mian walked out of his room.
Wen Qian’s eyes lit up instantly. She reached out without hesitation and grabbed Gu Mian’s arm tightly. Then, she quickly darted behind him.
She looked up at Gu Mian, her eyes watery and filled with grievance, like a small animal that had just been bullied.
"What’s wrong?" Seeing Wen Qian looking like a frightened fawn, Gu Mian raised a hand and gently stroked the top of her head.
Wen Qian pressed her lips together tightly and refused to speak.
Helpless, Gu Mian had no choice but to shift his questioning gaze to Li Jiu.
The boy nervously fidgeted with his fingers, glancing cautiously at Qi Ke and Yin Zhi, before finally saying in a low voice, "The Young Master and the Little Fox... were telling her about the past."
"Were they telling or fabricating?" Gu Mian raised an eyebrow slightly, the upward tilt hinting at a knowing expression, as if he had already guessed what was going on.
Li Jiu looked up again, quickly scanned the two men, and then lowered his head even further. He mumbled, "I don’t know... but it felt a bit like they were making it up."
For a moment, a brief silence fell over the group.
Two words surfaced in Wen Qian’s mind: ’Called it.’
’She just knew the things those two said couldn’t be trusted.’
"I... I was just guessing,"
Li Jiu tried to backtrack.
Don’t be fooled by Li Jiu’s youth; his mind worked quickly. As he listened to the three of them, he had been thinking to himself: ’If both the Young Master and Qi Ke are so sure that Wen Qian likes them the most, then one of them must be lying.’
He could at least figure out a simple truth like that.
"I’m not lying. Qianqian likes me the most."
"What’s there to like about you? It’s obvious Qianqian likes me the most."
Seeing the two were about to start fighting, Gu Mian rubbed the bridge of his nose in exasperation. "Alright, let’s eat first."
’The way they’re both so confident, it doesn’t seem like they’re lying. The most likely possibility is that they both genuinely believe it.’
At the mention of food, Wen Qian’s eyes instantly brightened. Say what you will, but she had been extremely satisfied with the meals these past few days. She never expected that Gu Mian, who looked like a refined young master, could also be such an excellent cook.
"Let’s all eat together," Gu Mian said lightly, his gaze sweeping over Qi Ke and Yin Zhi, who were standing off to the side. He then pulled some kind of fruit from his pocket and handed it to Li Jiu.
