She blew the whistle again, and the Xuan Beast immediately sat down. Its big, round eyes stared at her without blinking, looking obedient and rather cute.

Seeing Wen Qian approach, the Xuan Beast immediately spread its wings. Once Wen Qian had walked onto a wing, the Xuan Beast lifted it slightly, and in the next moment, Wen Qian was seated securely on its back.

Wen Qian was overjoyed. She looked eagerly at Chi Heng, gesturing for him to come up as well.

Chi Heng moved like lightning, landing steadily on the Xuan Beast’s back with a single, light leap.

Then, he reached out with his long, strong hands and naturally wrapped them around Wen Qian’s waist. In that instant, Wen Qian felt a wave of warmth wash over her, his scent enveloping her completely. The intimate gesture made her heart beat uncontrollably faster.

At the same time, the Xuan Beast let out a long cry to the heavens, spread its massive wings, and took flight toward the vast sky like a flowing cloud...

The wind howled past their ears as they looked down upon the earth. The rolling mountain ranges, winding rivers, and vast forests were all beneath them, a breathtaking scroll painting slowly unfurling before their eyes.

Chi Ye stood below, arms crossed, quietly watching the scene. A sudden thought of his ex-wife back on Blue Star made the man let out a faint sigh.

The Wolf King had appeared behind Chi Ye at some point. He joined him in watching the "little couple" disappear into the horizon, a gratified expression on his face. ’Out of five sons, one of them is finally settling down,’ he thought. ’My family line won’t be ending with me after all.’

With this happy thought, he was in a great mood and handed the Stone Fruit in his hand to Chi Ye.

The Stone Fruit was a wild fruit from the Beast World. It tasted sweet and sour, with granular pits inside when bitten. However, its tough skin made it a bit difficult to eat...

Chi Ye glanced down at it and shook his head. "I can’t eat this. It’s too hard to chew."

"Hard to chew?" The Old Wolf King was shocked. He then gave Chi Ye a strange look. "I’ve heard all about your exploits. You married a tough nut to crack, and you’re telling me a Stone Fruit is hard to chew?"

"Wait a minute, who told you that?!" Chi Ye’s eyes went wide. ’How long have I been back? How has word already reached the Wolf King’s ears?’

Hearing this, the Wolf King snorted coldly. "Is there anyone who’s been to Blue Star who *doesn’t* know?"

By now, tales of Chi Ye’s exploits had spread throughout the entire Wolf Clan. The guards weren’t even bored on duty anymore.

Chi Ye opened his mouth, wanting to argue, but ultimately held his tongue. "Anyway, I don’t regret it. I was prepared for hardship the moment I chose her."

"Did you get some kind of... sugar-piss-something disease on Blue Star?" the Wolf King sneered.

"Diabetes?" Chi Ye looked confused.

"Yeah, the disease where you can’t eat sweet things."

"..."

Chi Ye shut down. He was already in a bad mood, and after that exchange, he decided to just go back to the old castle and catch up on sleep.

The Xuan Beast carried the two of them through the sky above the forest. The man rested his chin on her shoulder. He had always envied Yin Zhi for being able to be so intimate with Wen Qian, and now his wish was finally coming true.

He tentatively nuzzled her earlobe with the tip of his nose. Seeing she didn’t try to pull away, he tentatively placed a kiss on it.

Wen Qian instinctively flinched, but the next second, a hand pressed her firmly by the waist. Leaning against the man’s broad chest, Wen Qian wore a look of pleasure...

But she didn’t know if it was her imagination; throughout the journey, Wen Qian felt a prickling on her back, as if a pair of eyes were hidden in the shadows, staring daggers at them.

The gaze was sinister and cold, a stark contrast to the gentle, passionate warmth that always surrounded her from Chi Heng. It made her feel an indescribable discomfort.

But the moment she thought of Chi Heng right behind her, feeling his strong arms and warm breath, Wen Qian couldn’t help but relax again.

After flying for an unknown amount of time, the Xuan Beast slowly landed beside a tranquil lake.

The lake’s surface was calm and clear enough to see the bottom. Towering trees blotted out the sky, and sunlight struggled to filter through the dense leaves, casting dappled shadows on the ground.

Chi Heng lifted Wen Qian down from the Xuan Beast. She looked down at her feet curiously.

In the crystal-clear water, she could vaguely see schools of small, crimson fish. They swam freely, occasionally blowing strings of sparkling bubbles.

Just then, the Xuan Beast also shuffled its massive body over. Its glossy black nose rooted around the lake’s edge for a bit before it actually snatched up a plump fish.

Wen Qian’s eyes widened in surprise. She originally thought the Xuan Beast was only fond of wild fruits from the forest. She never expected... it would be so interested in the fish in the lake too.

"Want to play in the water?" Seeing Wen Qian staring at the lake with such interest, Chi Heng smiled and patted her head.

Wen Qian nodded immediately. The next moment, the man bent down and carefully rolled up her pant legs. Her loose pants were rolled up to her knees, revealing her fair, slender calves. Then, he thoughtfully helped her take off her shoes and socks.

"Don’t run too far," he said softly, seemingly oblivious to Wen Qian’s flushed cheeks.

"Mmm... mm-hm!" Wen Qian nodded emphatically, then chased after the Xuan Beast as if she were fleeing.

The person and the beast splashed about happily in the water, kicking up sprays of white foam.

As the woman’s cheerful laughter faded into the distance, the warmth in Chi Heng’s eyes quietly dimmed, and a flicker of shadow, hard to discern, crossed his deep gaze.

He glanced to the side, his gaze shooting like a dagger toward the nearby woods. "Come out," he said in a cold voice.

The air instantly froze. Just as Chi Heng was growing impatient, a delicate, yet somewhat plaintive female voice suddenly called out, "Brother Chi Heng."

A woman in a magnificent long dress emerged gracefully from behind a tree. Following her was a Xuan Beast, remarkably similar to Wen Qian’s, exuding a mysterious aura. The only difference was a finger-length tuft of red fur on its forehead, which was particularly striking.

"Why were you following us?" Chi Heng’s brow furrowed. He stared directly at the woman before him, his eyes filled with displeasure.

The woman looked at his handsome face and pressed her lips together. "You came back and didn’t even tell me... All these days I couldn’t see you, I was worried sick every single day. I was so, so worried about you."

The woman before him was about the same age as Chi Heng. Her name was Xi Zhen, and she was a member of the Wolf Clan. Since childhood, Xi Zhen had idolized Chi Heng. Because her father held a high position in the Wolf Clan, she often used the excuse of looking for him to hang around the clan’s camp.

At first, Chi Heng didn’t think much of it, but as the Beastmen came of age, he gradually realized something was off and began to keep his distance from Xi Zhen.

In Chi Heng’s view, there were never any feelings between them, so there was no need to tell her he had returned.

The reeds by the lake swayed gently in the breeze, making a soft RUSTLING sound. The woman stood across from Chi Heng, looking utterly pitiful. "Ah Heng, the truth is, all these years..."

"I’m fine. If there’s nothing else, you should go back," Chi Heng interrupted her coolly, his brow furrowed even tighter.
