My Cat Turned Beastman Won't Stop Kissing My Neck
Chapter 150: Pinpointing the Weakness
Yin Zhi’s expression was grim. He pursed his lips, silent for a long moment.
"You can back out."
"In your dreams!"
Yin Zhi didn’t say anything until Gu Mian spoke again, at which point he cut him off with a cold expression.
Sunlight struck the side of Gu Mian’s face, sharply defining his jawline. He paused what he was doing and leaned lightly against the counter, silently observing the other man’s anxious expression.
"You’re the one who brought her here. I need a reason." Gu Mian’s cool, dark gaze swept mercilessly over Yin Zhi, his level voice carrying an authority that couldn’t be questioned.
"The engagement..." Yin Zhi irritably glanced away, his eyes evasive. He took a deep breath before finally saying coldly, "If I want to cancel it... this is her condition."
Shen Junyi wanted to find Shen Mqing and also meet Wen Qian. Yin Zhi didn’t want to agree, but if he didn’t, Shen Junyi would surely find a way to make trouble over their engagement once they returned to the Beast World.
Very few people could threaten Yin Zhi, but Shen Junyi was different. Her greatest skill in the Beast World was negotiation; she could always pinpoint her opponent’s weakness.
Gu Mian tapped his fingers on the countertop a few times, then a faint smile appeared on his face. He tilted his head up, and in the sunlight, his features looked exceptionally handsome.
"Then don’t cancel it. It’s not like Qianqian is guaranteed to end up with you."
"?"
A flash of anger crossed his eyes. Yin Zhi gritted his teeth. "What, with you instead?"
"I’ll respect her choice."
Gu Mian’s words infuriated Yin Zhi. To make matters worse, he was the first man to have been with Wen Qian. Yin Zhi clenched and unclenched his fist, suppressing the urge to throw a punch.
"Don’t think I don’t know what you’re plotting," Yin Zhi said, glaring at him. He then added in a low, warning tone, "I’ve only stayed out of it because this is the only way to bring her back to the Beast World. Otherwise, do you really think I’d let you touch her?"
Gu Mian chuckled softly and adjusted his glasses. "Are you so sure you’ll have a chance once you’re back in the Beast World?"
"And why wouldn’t I?" Yin Zhi bit out.
Shaking his head with a light laugh, Gu Mian turned back around and picked up the dishes he had yet to wash. His voice was soft. "You can’t control her decisions. Besides, the Tiger Clan wouldn’t agree..."
Even if Yin Zhi and Shen Junyi negotiated an end to their engagement, it would still cause a scandal.
Besides... Wen Qian is human. Too many Beastmen have suffered on Blue Star; the Tiger Clan won’t accept her easily.
And Wen Qian has more than one Beastman. While the Tiger Clan might allow a member to marry into another family under normal circumstances, for their Young Master...
A nonchalant look flickered in Gu Mian’s eyes. He lifted his chin slightly and ignored the man behind him.
’No matter how good his relationship with Wen Qian is now, he’s bound to face countless obstacles back in the Beast World.’
It wasn’t that Gu Mian doubted Yin Zhi’s feelings for Wen Qian. It was just that while Yin Zhi was busy dealing with all that, wasn’t he also creating opportunities for others?
Wen Qian’s guess had been correct. Once the Critical Stone was assembled, only Beastmen would be transported back. But what if a human carried the scent of enough Beastmen...
The Beastmen all had a tacit understanding and never brought this up. After all, they all hoped... that Wen Qian would be a willing participant.
After dinner, Shen Mqing dragged Li Jiu off to play video games as usual. With nothing else to do, Wen Qian decided to go to the supermarket to pick out some fruit for Li Jiu.
The apples she’d ordered online last time hadn’t been very fresh, and the little guy hadn’t liked them much.
Seeing this, Chi Ye gave Chi Heng a nudge. Chi Heng reacted instantly, getting up and walking over to Wen Qian. "I’ll go with you."
Wen Qian glanced back and, seeing that the Little Fox wasn’t there, nodded. She took the jacket Chi Heng handed her, and the two of them headed out of the villa.
To Wen Qian’s surprise, Chi Heng’s motorcycle actually had two helmets hanging from it this time.
As if sensing her gaze, Chi Heng put a hand to his lips and coughed lightly. He then took down the smaller of the two helmets and placed it on Wen Qian’s head.
Just as the two of them were about to get on, a slender figure appeared in their line of sight. It was Shen Junyi, holding a black helmet of her own, standing by the gate and watching them with interest.
"So the bike is yours." Shen Junyi’s lips curved into a smile as her gaze landed on Wen Qian. She lifted a hand and pointed to the side. "Qianqian, want a ride on my bike instead?"
Wen Qian followed her gaze to a green sport bike. ’A female rider would probably be a bit steadier,’ she thought, and was about to subconsciously say "Okay."
But before the word could leave her lips, Chi Heng cut her off. "Not necessary."
The next thing she knew, an arm wrapped tightly around her waist, and he lifted her onto the back seat.
A moment later, as if by magic, Chi Heng produced a pair of gloves and had Wen Qian put them on.
"The Wolf Clan is certainly forceful, aren’t they..." Holding her helmet, Shen Junyi leaned lazily against her own motorcycle, her long legs crossed. She looked incredibly cool and dashing.
Chi Heng’s brows furrowed tightly. He couldn’t be bothered to waste another word on the woman. With a long stride, he swung his leg over and mounted the vintage motorcycle.
The engine let out a low rumble, and before Shen Junyi could start her own bike, Chi Heng sped away from the villa with Wen Qian.
As they sped along, he casually glanced in the rearview mirror, just as a flash of brilliant emerald green entered his vision.
Shen Junyi, on her highly recognizable green motorcycle, was following them at a leisurely pace.
Even though she had left after them, it wasn’t long before her bike seemed to appear out of nowhere, catching up and soon riding parallel to them.
Chi Heng’s lips thinned into a tight line. An imperceptible flicker of vigilance crossed his eyes as he subconsciously tightened his grip on the handlebars. Wen Qian hugged his waist tighter and instinctively turned to look at Shen Junyi beside them.
The woman lifted a hand to flip up her visor, revealing a stunningly beautiful face. She gave Wen Qian a small smile.
"Fancy seeing you here."
At a red light, the woman greeted Wen Qian openly, her gaze turning provocative when she looked at Chi Heng.
Chi Heng had never felt such strong animosity toward a female before, but now... A cold glint flashed in his eyes. When the light changed, he gunned the engine, his speed noticeably faster than before.
But he didn’t dare take too many risks; after all, he had a passenger.
They completed the fifteen-minute trip in just eight.
Chi Heng lifted Wen Qian off the bike. She instinctively glanced at the woman beside them. Shen Junyi had also taken off her helmet and was raising a hand to wave at her.
As if moved by some unseen force, Wen Qian raised her hand and waved back.
’I don’t know why Shen Junyi is following me, but my gut tells me she doesn’t mean any harm. Besides... she did just offer me a ride on her bike.’
"Are you here to shop, too?" Wen Qian asked, breaking the silence.
Shen Junyi’s lips curved. "I came to follow you."
Wen Qian was speechless.
She was so bold and blunt about it that, for a moment, Wen Qian truly didn’t know what to say.
Shen Junyi wasn’t in a hurry, just watching her quietly. Her stare made Wen Qian’s skin crawl, and she replied lamely, "Okay, follow us then..."
’It’s not like it’ll kill me,’ she thought.
