My Arts Evolve When Perfected

Chapter 370 364: Couldn't See How He Insta-Killed, and He Already Started Another Match

  • Next Chapter

The electronic voice roared through the livestream like a waterfall as countless onlookers finally snapped out of their daze. Onscreen, they saw a streak of black light flash and return to the hand of the Human Race member, who then slowly pulled open the arena doors and casually walked away.

The scene was pandemonium. The entire audience was dumbfounded. "Holy shit, what was that? It just one-shot Sansan!"

"What the hell was that? At first, I thought Sansan was just bragging. How could a mere first-level Spirit Body Realm cultivator be that strong? But then he actually summoned thunder! And the crazy part is, he summoned thunder and *still* got one-shot?!"

"My mind is blown. Seriously. You see that? That's what you get for showing off. He probably didn't even know what killed him."

"Uh... I just dozed off for a second. Is the match over?"

"Awesome."

"Ahahaha, I'm dying! Young Master Sansan got one-shot, tee hee~"

"Goddammit! Our Young Master Sansan was definitely ambushed! That bastard cheated, he must have! There's no way Young Master Sansan could lose otherwise!"

"Exactly! A Thunderstorm Descent like that is unbeatable! How could a first-level Spirit Body Realm nobody possibly win against it? He must have been suppressing his Realm to target our Young Master Sansan!"

"He must have used a forbidden Secret Technique! Or some unholy hidden weapon that goes against the natural order! That bastard couldn't have won!"

"Tsk, tsk. Bunch of dead-eyed morons, are you brain-dead? Cheat in the Celestial Star Arena? How? Wasn't that his own power on display? If his weapon is amazing, it's *his* weapon. If his Secret Technique is amazing, it's one *he* learned. What the hell does it have to do with you?!"

"I couldn't stand you guys anyway. Good riddance to Sansan! I'm going to follow the Human Race's Jiang Qiu right now. Go, Jiang Qiu! Whoo~"

"Support Jiang Qiu of the Human Race!"

"Support!"

The live comments scrolled by in a blur, completely burying the remarks from the Fishman Race. Meanwhile, Jiang Qiu had left the arena. Finally annoyed by the incessant PING PING PING of notifications, he opened his personal account.

He stared at the flood of follow notifications and the rapidly climbing fan count on his arena member account, stunned for a moment. 'Over ten thousand fans already?'

It was a bit surprising, he had to admit. But what made him laugh were the numerous threats. 'Seriously? The Fishman Race wants to hunt me down, saying it's an unforgivable sin that I killed their Saint Heir?'

Indeed, many of the private messages declared that he would pay a heavy price for killing their Saint Heir and that he was doomed to die a miserable death.

A typical first-level Spirit Body Realm cultivator would have probably pissed their pants in fear at such threats, immediately hopping on a flyer and fleeing to the ends of the earth.

But he wasn't a typical first-level Spirit Body Realm cultivator. Even setting his actual power aside, his status as a member of the Celestial Star Arena was enough to give them pause.

'After all, I paid the registration fee. As long as I'm in Celestial Star City, the Three-Life Race will guarantee my safety. Who would dare hunt down a registered arena member? That's just suicide.'

As long as his membership was active, the Fishman Race wouldn't dare make a move on him. But that membership wasn't permanent. He had to maintain a winning streak or get promoted to an advanced member for the Three-Life Race to guarantee his basic safety in certain areas.

'Simply put, as long as I keep winning, they won't come knocking.'

"Heh, whatever. I just hope my next opponent isn't so annoying..." Jiang Qiu muttered. He muted his personal account and returned to the lounge to wait for his next fight. *Matching...* A PING sounded. *Match found. Loading information.* 'Hmm? A member of the Birdman Race? Seems like they're in the same league as the Fishman Race.'

As Jiang Qiu was checking his opponent's information, You Qian, who had just finished watching the challenge in the administration hall via a staff-only feed, raised an eyebrow. "This Human Race member has some real strength," he muttered. "What was that attack just now?"

His curiosity had been piqued by the man's Human Race identity, and since Jiang Qiu was technically his client, he had been paying close attention to the match from the start. The outcome, however, was a little surprising.

He'd heard of Sansan before and had just done a quick search on his background. The kid could be considered a peerless prodigy among the minor races. With a few more years to develop, he might have had a real shot at becoming an advanced member of the Celestial Star Arena.

Of course, even at his current level, he could have easily racked up a three-to-five-win streak with that so-called Fish Spear Divine Artifact. If he got lucky with his matchups and faced opponents who couldn't counter him, he might have even had a shot at a ten-win streak.

A prodigy like that was truly powerful, more than capable of fighting above his Realm!

And yet, this formidable genius, on the verge of unleashing a massive ultimate attack, had been one-shot by Jiang Qiu—and he, You Qian, hadn't even been able to see how it was done.

"How strange," You Qian muttered. He rewatched the recording several times from various angles, even slowing it down to one-tenth speed, before he could faintly make something out. "It seems he pulled something from thin air and threw it. The object pierced through Sansan's head and then returned to his hand."

The entire sequence happened in a flash. The attack was too fast for Sansan's naked eye to even perceive; he was already pierced through before he could react.

The object he threw was incredibly fine, like a black needle. There was no other possibility. It didn't even carry the slightest fluctuation of Spirit Charm...

"It doesn't seem like a weapon. Most weapons require Spirit Charm to be activated for that kind of effect, and it's definitely not something a first-level Spirit Body Realm Cultivator could master," You Qian mused, clicking his tongue. "With a technique like this, Jiang Qiu could rack up quite a winning streak. And I could make a tidy profit."

He decided not to overthink it. As long as Jiang Qiu kept winning, that was all that mattered. The more he won, the more You Qian earned. Who knows, maybe he'd even become an advanced member with thirty victories and a ten-win streak.

Becoming an advanced member required thirty total victories and at least one ten-win streak. The ten-win streak was the difficult part. The opponents grew progressively stronger, and the fighter you faced for your tenth consecutive win was always a massive leap in power. Ordinary people could never achieve it; only true prodigies could.

Once a member reached that status, the Celestial Star Arena would grant them long-term protection within Celestial Star City. They would also receive discounts on many goods and gain access to rare items unavailable to ordinary factions.

'Most importantly,' You Qian thought, 'if I'm the one who signs an advanced member, I get a huge bonus!'

He was reveling in this happy thought when he suddenly received a message from Jiang Qiu. "You Qian, I see a victory earns one hundred thousand. I'll transfer it all to you. Please give Zhu Weiyi some special consideration—make sure he gets some decent food. Can you do that?"

"A hundred thousand... all for me?!"

After a moment of shock, You Qian grinned. 'What a great client.'

According to the rules of the Celestial Star Arena, members received a portion of the prize money after winning a challenge match. The basic reward for a first-level Spirit Body Realm victory was one hundred thousand.

That was no small sum. Forget just arranging for better food; he could provide a feast with no problem at all!

He immediately sent a reply: "Not a problem. I'll have someone look after Zhu Weiyi. I guarantee he'll eat well and sleep well."

It was a simple matter. Giving a slave extra food wasn't against the law. And even though, after he took his cut for "arranging things," less than ten thousand of that hundred thousand Primordial Basic Coins would actually be spent on Zhu Weiyi's food, it would still be a massive improvement over the slop he was eating before.

If someone was willing to pay, he was willing to get things done.

Reassured by the affirmative reply, Jiang Qiu transferred the one hundred thousand Primordial Basic Coins that had just been deposited into his account. His only regret was that the Celestial Star Arena didn't permit members to visit their slaves.

After another short wait, his second match began. He was already familiar with the route and quickly found Arena 10086, pushing the door open and stepping inside.

At that same moment, all the viewers who had just followed him received a notification: "The member you follow is about to begin a challenge in Arena #10086. Tune in now so you don't miss it!~"

"What? He's starting another challenge already?"

"You've got to be kidding me. I just got back from the bathroom, and you're telling me he's starting another one?"

"Badass, so badass—holy shit, his opponent is *her*?!"
