Chapter 885: The Mysterious House Owner

  • Next Chapter

“How is it, Auntie Zhu? Did you see the owner who bought the house?”

She has always wanted to buy back The Shawcross Family’s house.

However, when The Shawcross Family went bankrupt, the old house was auctioned off under confidentiality, and she couldn’t find out who the owner was.

So, as soon as Auntie Zhu mentioned this, Summer Shawcross couldn’t help but feel a bit more hopeful.

“I haven’t seen the person, but… over the past few days, I’ve noticed that someone seems to be living there suddenly. Last night, I saw the lights were on, so I purposely went to check. I found the rusty gate had been repaired and it looks exactly like how it used to be when your family lived there!” Auntie Zhu’s voice followed through.

Listening to Auntie Zhu, Summer Shawcross’s expression changed slightly—has someone moved in?

Just as she was lost in thought, Auntie Zhu’s voice sounded again.

“I just went to ask the neighbors first thing this morning, and they said indeed, someone moved in last night. But, maybe because they just moved in, the people haven’t shown up yet.”

“But I think, since someone is living there now, you can go over and ask for clues, see if they’re willing to sell it to you,” Auntie Zhu said enthusiastically.

After hearing Auntie Zhu’s words, Summer Shawcross felt a bit excited and quickly thanked her.

“Thank you, Auntie Zhu. I’ll go check it out later.”

“Alright, come by my house when you do. I haven’t seen you in so long; I’d love to have a proper catch-up!” Auntie Zhu’s joyful voice followed.

“Sure, Auntie Zhu!” Summer Shawcross smiled and said busily.

After ending the call, Summer Shawcross took a deep breath, unable to hide the joy on her fair face.

“Ma’am, did something good happen?” Katherine Irving asked, unable to resist commenting on her happy expression.

“It really is good news.” Summer Shawcross smiled and then added, “I might have the chance to reclaim my family’s house.”

Although she didn’t know if the current owner of The Shawcross Family’s house would be willing to sell it to her, at least she finally had a hint about the owner that was previously elusive.

If there’s even a glimmer of hope, she must give it a try!

Listening to Summer Shawcross, Keegan Irving’s expression carried confusion, not fully understanding.

“Katherine, come out with me for a bit.” Summer Shawcross suddenly stood up from the chair, holding her phone.

Katherine quickly nodded, “Okay.”

…

In the morning.

The weather today, from early on, had been gloomy, the entire sky gray and murky, as if it would rain any moment.

Katherine drove, directly taking Summer Shawcross to the gates of The Shawcross Family’s house.

The iron gate, once so rusted it was unrecognizable, had been completely refreshed to a bronzed iron gate.

As Summer Shawcross looked up and clearly saw the appearance of the iron gate and the small part of the courtyard inside, her heart suddenly tightened.

Earlier, listening to Auntie Zhu over the phone, she hadn’t thought too much of it. But now that she was here, seeing this house with decades of history in front of her, she was taken aback.

The Shawcross Family house before her was almost identical to how she remembered it in her childhood…
