"Lynx?" Eleanor’s smooth, regal voice broke through his thoughts. She had paused near the entrance of a quiet, illuminated garden path, looking at him with an amused smile.

"You zoned out for three whole seconds, and now you’re smiling like a crazy person. What on earth are you thinking about? You have that evil smile again."

Lynx closed the system menu, stepping closer to Eleanor until he was looking directly into her striking purple eyes. A breathtaking, magnetic smirk touched his face. He was close enough to smell her perfume.

"I was just thinking," Lynx murmured softly, his voice dripping with irresistible charm, "about how lucky I am to have the most beautiful Queen in the empire standing right in front of me. Tonight is perfect because you are here."

Eleanor’s breath hitched slightly, a vibrant, lovely blush creeping up her cheeks as she let out a soft, helpless laugh, completely charmed by his effortless words as they continued their night out into the glowing capital.

The night air in the Void Empire’s capital was thick with the scent of blooming synthetic night lotus and the hum of high voltage mana grids.

The streets were bright with floating signs. The mana lamps buzzed. Lynx walked casually down the grand, crystal paved promenade, his hands tucked loosely into the pockets of his black leather coat.

His steps were slow and relaxed. On his left, Eleanor stepped gracefully in her sapphire dress, her heels clicking softly on the crystal pavement.

While Nadia, Layla, Iris, and Rhea chattered back and forth, their initial hostility completely melted away into warm, playful banter. They were laughing and teasing each other now.

"I still say you cheated during that arcade game, Azarion," Layla laughed, her crimson hair catching the purple neon glow of a nearby floating billboard.

The billboard was advertising spirit drinks. "There is no way a person can calculate the kinetic trajectory of a bouncing energy orb that fast without a cheating skill! You calculated ten bounces ahead! That’s not possible!"

"It’s not cheating, Layla. It’s just superior genetics," Lynx replied with an effortless, teasing smirk, glancing sideways at Nadia.

His eyes were playful. "Unlike some people who trip over their own boots when they get startled and then blame the ground for moving."

Nadia glared daggers at him, her face flushing a brilliant shade of red as she threw her hands up. Her heavy chest bounced with the motion.

"I did not trip. A stray mana current destabilized the paving stone! I felt it! The stone moved under my foot! It was not my fault!"

"Sure it did," Lynx chuckled, his eyes dropping playfully to her voluminous hips, watching the way her skirt moved. "Keep telling yourself that, Nadia. Your balance is just as impressive as your other assets. Very distracting balance."

Suddenly, the cheerful, bustling atmosphere of the promenade vanished in less than a fraction of a second. The change was instant.

The ambient neon lights flickered violently and turned a stark, suffocating crimson. The pretty purple and blue lights became blood red.

A massive, invisible dome of oppressive psychic and elemental pressure slammed down over the entire district, locking out civilian traffic and freezing the surrounding air into a heavy, metallic block.

The air became heavy like lead. Sound disappeared.

Civilians walking fifty meters away instantly froze in place, collapsing to their knees as if crushed by an invisible mountain. They grabbed their throats. They could not breathe. Some fainted.

Eleanor’s expression hardened instantly. Her purple eyes flashed with sharp vigilance as she stepped in front of Rhea, her hands glowing with lightning and ice.

Her royal aura burst out. "Ambush! Defensive formation, now! Back to back! Don’t get separated!"

Layla summoned her fiery aura, flames covering her arms and shoulders like armor. Iris vanished into a blur of wind step, her body becoming a gust of wind.

And Nadia planted her boots firmly into the stone, her earth affinity flaring, causing cracks to spread from her feet. Her skin glowed with earth energy.

"Well, well, well," a cold, aristocratic voice echoed from the shadowed archway ahead. The voice was full of hate. "Look at the little rats enjoying their final night out. Enjoying the city that will be your grave."

From the shadows of the grand stone corridor, dozens of elite Void guards stepped forward, some of them were radiating Almost Peak Blessed Aura’s.

They wore black heavy armor with the Void crest. Their weapons were drawn. Leading them were three senior Void Professors whose faces were twisted in ugly, venomous grins of pure hatred. Their eyes were red with anger.

And right at the front, stepping out from behind the guards with a terrifying, unhinged smile, was Kimberly Vane.

Her face was pale, her eyes bloodshot, and her clothes slightly disheveled, the lingering psychological trauma of her humiliating defeat on the imperial stage still fresh in her mind.

Her hair was messy. But right now, her expression was filled with manic triumph. She thought this was her revenge.

"Lynx Azarion," Kimberly hissed, pointing a trembling finger at him. Her finger shook violently. Her voice was high and broken. "You thought you could humiliate me in front of the entire empire? You thought you could destroy my family’s legacy and walk away scott free?! You embarrassed me in front of my father! You ruined me!"

Lynx didn’t even flinch. He didn’t draw a weapon, nor did he drop his hands from his pockets.

He simply looked at Kimberly with a lazy, deeply amused expression, as if he were watching a stray cat hiss at a carriage wheel. He was bored.

"Ah, the princess of trash is back," Lynx said smoothly, his voice dripping with casual mockery. His voice was calm in the tense air.

"Did your father give you permission to come outside past your bedtime, Kimberly? Or did you sneak out because you missed getting beaten? You seemed to like the attention last time." Yeah, Kimberly Father is the King of Void Blessed Academy. Rose and Amira told him.

Kimberly’s face contorted into pure rage. Her face turned red then white. "Kill him! Kill the girls with him! Leave no trace of them! I want them erased! Kill them all now!"
