Multiverse Gourmet Hunter
Chapter 359
After entering Axel, Haruto parked the carriage in a quiet alley.
“All right, Cecily. I guess this is where we part ways.”
He turned toward Cecily, having little interest in whatever she planned to do next.
Cecily nodded, took out a pouch of money, and respectfully presented it to Haruto with both hands.
“Haruto-san, here’s the payment we agreed on.”
Haruto accepted the pouch without hesitation.
The Axis Cult’s followers might have been a little abnormal, but they certainly weren’t short of money.
For a single escort mission, Cecily had paid him a full million eris.
“Well, I’ll be going now. Goodbye, Haruto-san, Kagura, and little Kanna!”
With that, Cecily turned and left.
Once she was gone, Haruto stored Rapidash and the carriage inside the Gourmet Restaurant.
Several pedestrians passing through the alley happened to witness the scene. They stared in disbelief, rubbing their eyes as though they had just seen an illusion.
“Come on. Let’s head to the Adventurers Guild.”
Haruto dusted off his hands and turned toward Kagura and Kanna.
Naturally, neither had any objections.
“I wonder what classes we’ll qualify for!”
Kagura sounded rather excited.
Haruto had already explained quite a bit about the world of KonoSuba to both sisters, so they were familiar with the basic idea of its adventurer system.
Although Kanna remained silent, she was clearly curious as well.
“We’ll find out soon enough,” Haruto replied.
He was fairly certain that all three of them would qualify for advanced classes.
As they walked through Axel’s streets, they passed blacksmith shops selling weapons, magic shops displaying potions, and bakeries filled with freshly baked bread and pastries.
The streets were bustling with activity. Warriors wearing armor and carrying enormous swords walked alongside robed mages holding wooden staffs.
The air carried the fragrance of bread and malt beer, mingled with the faint smells of sweat and metal. The entire town was filled with the lively atmosphere of everyday life.
Kagura looked around with great curiosity, while Kanna quietly followed beside Haruto.
Before long, an imposing building appeared ahead of them.
The emblem of the Adventurers Guild hung above its entrance.
Haruto led Kagura and Kanna inside.
The guild hall was crowded and noisy.
Adventurers occupied several large tables, some drinking and playing drinking games, others loudly discussing quests or boasting about their previous exploits.
Another crowd had gathered around the quest board, carefully examining the posted requests in search of suitable work.
Behind the reception counter stood Luna, a woman with long blonde hair wearing the guild’s official uniform. She was busy handling the guild’s daily affairs.
When she noticed Haruto and his companions entering, she greeted them with a sweet, professional smile.
“Good afternoon! How can I help the three of you?”
“We’d like to register as adventurers.”
Haruto approached the counter and explained his purpose directly.
Luna maintained her welcoming smile and nodded.
“Of course! Welcome to the Axel Adventurers Guild.”
“First, there’s a registration fee of two thousand eris per person.”
Haruto took out the money pouch Cecily had given him, counted out six thousand eris, and placed the coins on the counter.
After accepting the payment, Luna turned around and retrieved a peculiar device from a cabinet behind her.
It was a specialized magical apparatus used for registering adventurers.
Its main component was a sky-blue crystal sphere roughly the size of a volleyball, mounted on an elegant metal stand. Beneath the sphere was a funnel-shaped metal attachment.
Luna then opened a drawer and took out three blank cards.
Intricate patterns had been engraved along their edges, giving them a surprisingly refined appearance.
After arranging everything on the counter, she looked at the three newcomers with a serious but friendly expression.
“Before we begin registration, let me briefly explain the rules governing adventurers and the different classes available.”
“There are many different adventurer classes in this world.”
“For example, we have warrior-type classes specializing in close combat and defense. Their powerful physiques make them indispensable frontline members of an adventuring party.”
“Then there are mages, who wield various forms of magic and possess formidable offensive capabilities.”
“Thieves, meanwhile, are exceptionally agile and specialize in stealth and surprise attacks. They’re particularly useful when exploring dungeons.”
“We also have priests who can heal injuries and exorcise evil, alchemists who specialize in producing potions and magical items, Beast Tamers who can domesticate monsters, and many other professions.”
“Every class has its own unique abilities, advantages, and disadvantages.”
“You should choose whichever class best suits your individual talents.”
Haruto listened without interrupting.
Although he already possessed a general understanding of the class system in the world of KonoSuba, his knowledge was far from comprehensive.
Luna’s explanation was a convenient opportunity to fill in the gaps.
Kagura and Kanna also listened attentively.
Once Luna had finished introducing the different professions, she picked up one of the blank cards and showed it to them.
“Next is something extremely important: your Adventurer’s Card!”
“This card records your progress and achievements as an adventurer. Whenever you successfully complete a guild quest or defeat a powerful monster, the corresponding experience will be recorded on your card.”
“Once you’ve accumulated enough experience, your level will increase, and you’ll receive skill points.”
“You can then spend those points to learn powerful skills associated with your class, allowing you to become even stronger.”
As she explained, Luna carefully placed the blank Adventurer’s Card beneath the registration apparatus, positioning it directly below the funnel-shaped attachment.
Then she turned toward Haruto, who was standing at the front of the group.
“Let’s start with you, sir. Please place your hand on top of the crystal sphere.”
Haruto nodded and rested his right hand on the crystal.
The moment he touched it, the sphere suddenly lit up, releasing a gentle blue glow.
Countless tiny points of light appeared inside the crystal.
They rapidly converged into a brilliant stream of light, which traveled down through the funnel-shaped attachment and illuminated the blank card beneath it.
Under the magical illumination, rows of text gradually appeared across the card’s surface.
“This crystal can detect your basic information and individual attributes,” Luna explained softly.
The noise in the guild hall seemed to diminish slightly as the registration process continued.
Several nearby adventurers curiously turned their attention toward the reception counter.
Kagura and Kanna also leaned forward, watching the words gradually materialize on Haruto’s card.
A few seconds later, the crystal’s glow began to fade, and the tiny points of light disappeared.
Luna picked up the completed Adventurer’s Card.
Out of habit, she first examined the name recorded at the top.
“Your name is Suzuki Haruto, correct?”
Haruto nodded.
He wasn’t particularly surprised that Luna had learned his name.
After all, the registration device was capable of detecting his basic information and recording it directly onto the card.
Although the process was certainly remarkable, it wasn’t especially shocking in a world filled with magic.
Luna smiled and continued examining his attributes.
Then her expression abruptly froze.
Her eyes widened dramatically, and she nearly dropped the card.
“Every single attribute is far above average… Even your Luck is incredibly high!”
Luna stared at the numbers in disbelief.
She had spent years working at the Adventurers Guild and encountered countless aspiring adventurers.
Some possessed extraordinary natural talent, while others had thoroughly ordinary abilities.
But this was only the second time she had encountered a newcomer with such astonishing attributes.
After a moment, Luna took a deep breath.
When she looked up at Haruto again, her eyes were filled with undisguised admiration.
“Haruto-san, your attributes are absolutely incredible!”
“You already meet the requirements for Crusader, Sword Master, Arch Wizard, Magic Swordsman, Arch Priest… In fact, you can choose practically any advanced class!”
“This is extraordinarily rare! We’ve never had a genius quite like you register here in Axel!”
The nearby adventurers immediately erupted into excited discussion.
“What?! He can choose any advanced class he wants?”
“Didn’t someone who qualified directly as an Arch Priest register here just a few days ago? And now there’s another one?!”
“So this is the difference between geniuses and ordinary people… I’m jealous!”
More and more adventurers gathered around the reception counter, eager to see what was happening.
Listening to their conversations, Luna nodded in agreement.
Only a few days earlier, another remarkable newcomer had registered at the guild: an Arch Priest whose attributes were extraordinarily high in practically every category except Intelligence and Luck.
And now Suzuki Haruto had appeared, possessing absurdly high attributes across the board.
For a beginner adventurer town like Axel, encountering such exceptional newcomers in such quick succession was practically unheard of.
