Mr. Law's Official Announcement: He is a Wife-Doting Fanatic!
Chapter 652: Cecilia, Made Just for You
Seeing Adrian Law relax, Cecilia Vaughn happily hugged the man’s lean waist and nudged his shoulder affectionately.
"Adrian, I always knew you were the best for me."
"..."
Adrian shook his head helplessly and reached out to gently tidy Cecilia’s stray hair by her cheek.
"Cecilia, with the New Year approaching, not only is your school busy with year-end grades, but The Law Group also needs to prepare for the annual meeting and celebration dinner. There are a stack of things waiting to be handled."
Cecilia felt a bit apologetic after hearing that, a hint of embarrassment showing in her eyes.
"How about I go with Wyatt instead?"
"That’s not the issue I wanted to address..."
Adrian firmly shook his head.
"The New Year is coming, Cecilia. I just hope your heart can be a pure land, filled with sunshine. But Chloe Alden’s case is too gruesome and brutal, and I don’t want the most vivid image of this year’s end to be catching the real culprit."
Upon hearing this, Cecilia was overwhelmed with a sensation both sour and sweet, like an unripe apricot. The first bite brings juicy freshness, yet the taste is not quite satisfying, but in the end, a subtle sweetness spreads across the mouth.
"Adrian, I know you’re doing this for my good, but if we don’t find the real culprit, I think I will be even more upset this year. Someone is lurking in the shadows, like a wolf ready to kill you, yet there’s no way to know who they are, or bring them to justice. That feeling is unbearable."
Hearing this, a trace of affection flashed in Adrian’s dark eyes.
Then, a flash of aggression passed through.
The man furrowed his brow, his expression determined.
"Cecilia, I understand, but don’t worry too much. Such matters are best left to professionals."
"Okay."
Since Cecilia was kidnapped by people sent by Old Mrs. Trent last time and almost had a ghost marriage, she was nearly frightened to heart disease.
Since then, Adrian Law has been pondering how to better protect Cecilia Vaughn.
Adrian recalled that the necklace he custom-made had arrived, but he was too rushed in the morning to give it to Cecilia, so he immediately got up and walked toward the coffee table, opening a small box placed inside.
"Huh, what’s this?"
Cecilia curiously leaned over.
Seeing the exquisitely carved wooden box, she was somewhat surprised at what Adrian intended to do.
Adrian showed the contents of the box to Cecilia.
"Cecilia, whenever you go out alone, wherever you go, don’t take this off."
Cecilia stared in surprise, her beautiful eyes immediately reflecting a very simple silver necklace.
It looked quite plain and elegant, seemingly not very valuable, yet it did not lack style.
The chain was thin and quite ordinary with no highlights, and the pendant was only the size of half a thumbnail, also silver, with nothing special about it.
...
"Adrian, what is this?"
Cecilia knew Adrian’s taste, and this necklace didn’t quite fit Adrian’s aesthetic—mainly because it was too ordinary without any eye-catching features.
"Cecilia, you must wear it whenever you go out. This isn’t just an ordinary necklace. The pendant has a real-time tracker inside, and it can recharge via solar power. While you wear it, it doesn’t need charging, and wherever you go, the location will be transmitted to my communicator."
"Huh?!"
Cecilia was inexplicably flustered.
"Doesn’t that mean I’ll be tracked all the time?"
"Silly, it’s only locating. Don’t worry about anything else; there’s no video feed. Whatever you’re doing, no one else will know."
Adrian said, his expression becoming serious.
"The only downside of this tracker is if the signal is blocked, it won’t transmit real-time location."
"And, do you see that small hole there?"
"Press the point inward, and you can pull out a pin. Turn it left, and it’ll send a distress signal."
...
Upon hearing Adrian’s careful demonstration, Cecilia’s eyes lit up.
"Wow, this is so advanced. Adrian, you’re amazing."
"As long as it keeps you safe, everything else is secondary."
Adrian wrapped his arm around Cecilia’s waist, his voice light as a feather, touching the heart and leaving one enchanted.
"Cecilia, after returning from Zentaria, let’s visit your grandmother."
"Okay."
Thinking of her grandmother living in the countryside of Veridia City, Cecilia felt even more embarrassed.
"Adrian, sometimes I feel you’re more filial to my grandmother than I am. I might start suspecting you’re her real grandchild."
"Really?"
Adrian raised an eyebrow.
"How will you repay me?"
"Is offering myself not enough?"
"Not enough, I’d prefer in the next life, and the one after that. Even in reincarnation, we can’t be separated."
...
This, of course, was only a beautiful notion, something Cecilia understood better than Adrian.
She wasn’t one to believe in ghosts and spirits, nor did Adrian. The two of them quietly embraced in the living room, suddenly hopeful for a future life.
It turns out, when you love someone, a lifetime doesn’t seem enough, leading to hopes for another life.
The world is full of couples who torment each other, going crazy just being near one another, but happy people are entirely different.
...
The next day, Cecilia went to Stellerton University’s campus to collect her transcript.
Stellerton University’s policy was quite unreasonable; unlike many universities that no longer issue printed transcripts, Stellerton University retained the tradition from a century ago, requiring students to send it to their parents.
Cecilia figured she could only send it to her grandmother.
She had no intention of giving it to her shameless father, Gregory Vaughn.
In fact, ever since Florence Warner went to prison and Fiona Vaughn was exposed for having an affair with Chloe Alden’s uncle, her status as a daughter-in-law in the Law Family had been quite precarious, a figurative clay idol crossing a river that couldn’t protect itself, cautious in her dealings with the Law Family, offering little help to Gregory Vaughn.
Gregory held resentment in his heart and turned his attention to Cecilia, bombarding her with messages. Even after blocking this number, another one would pop up.
Cecilia was truly fed up.
...
Bella Prescott was absent from today’s class meeting due to her health, so Cecilia collected Bella’s transcript on her behalf, intending to mail it to Bella’s home.
Just as Cecilia was heading to the post office, a tall figure appeared before her eyes.
"Classmate Vaughn, are you leaving?"
"Something you need?"
Cecilia lifted her eyes to see Sean Grant’s mixed-race handsome face, his features sharply defined, his skin fair as snow, like an alluring demon in the dark.
