Just as the two were being affectionate, a sudden phone call interrupted them.

Hearing Wyatt mention the murder case on the Isle of Whispers, Cecilia Vaughn’s face, which had been bright with a smile, instantly turned grim.

She clung to Adrian Law’s hand tightly, her voice urgent.

“Wyatt, are you sure? Is that what the Vesperian police department said? Is there a clue to the real murderer?”

Although Cecilia really disliked Chloe Alden, in some way, she found Chloe to be that kind of person who, despite being hated, also had her pitiable aspects. To die so miserably at her friend Fiona Vaughn’s wedding was like a tragic ghost from a TV drama.

And Fiona completely avoided the issue. Even though Chloe died at her wedding banquet, she didn’t feel an ounce of guilt or wish to pursue the real culprit. She even refused the mayor’s invitation to attend Chloe’s funeral.

This kind of cold-blooded woman, Cecilia was seeing for the first time.

…

Chloe was indeed arrogant to the point of malice, but towards Fiona, she was incredibly kind, to the extent of baring her heart. Even being trampled as a mere backdrop by Fiona, she didn’t utter a complaint.

In contrast, Fiona…

Cecilia thought of her half-sister and sighed.

Adrian understood what Cecilia was thinking: catching the real culprit was absolutely necessary.

Back then, someone had used Chloe’s death to falsely accuse Cecilia of murder. Adrian had many suspects, including the bride, Fiona. However, after thorough investigation, they still found nothing.

“Cecilia, don’t worry. Wyatt, take your time to explain.”

“Alright, Young Master, Young Madam, this is the situation: after more than a month of investigation by the Vesperian police, they discovered a special mineral element in Chloe Alden’s body, which they suspect was unconsciously injected by the murderer when they killed her.”

“Mineral element?”

Adrian frowned.

“What clues can we trace from this element?”

“Young Master, this element is very rare. It’s impossible to find it in general places. It’s only available on an island city close to Zentaria, and it’s possessed by a special underwater coral. I’ve already emailed the detailed information to you if you’re interested, you can take a closer look.”

“Alright, did those officers say anything else?”

“Yes, they said that although Young Madam has been cleared of suspicion, they still hope Young Madam can go to Zentaria to provide more clues, like if she and Chloe had any mutual acquaintances or enemies before Chloe’s death.”

“…”

Cecilia was momentarily speechless.

“Why do I feel like there’s only Fiona? But Fiona was Chloe’s friend, while she’s my enemy.”

“Although Fiona is quite malicious, I don’t think she would murder Chloe at her own wedding.”

“Even if Fiona hates me and wants to frame me, this case is too risky for her. Besides, she doesn’t have any motive to kill Chloe because Chloe was of great use to Fiona.”

Wyatt also understood this logic and sighed lightly.

“Young Madam, the Vesperian police have said that they discovered Fiona had a past scandal with Chloe’s uncle, so they suspect Fiona had an improper relationship with him and Chloe had evidence of this, prompting Fiona to quickly get rid of Chloe to avoid future trouble.”

“…”

Hearing this, Cecilia nearly burst out laughing.

“Please, the main point is the scandal between Fiona and Chloe’s uncle is already all over the internet. What stronger evidence could there be? Could Chloe have impulsively snuck into the hotel room they booked to secretly take special photos of them?”

Cecilia didn’t believe it one bit.

From what Cecilia knew, Chloe was just an airheaded heiress with lots of money but a not-so-clear mind.

If someone like her could gather evidence against Fiona for cheating—especially with her own uncle—Chloe wouldn’t have gone crazy with rage.

Even if Chloe liked Fiona, she should’ve confronted Fiona immediately, which could have led to a farcical public scandal.

…

In fact, after the news about Fiona’s secret meetings with Chloe’s uncle broke, Chloe might have initially had doubts about her friend’s character but was soon fooled by Fiona’s innocent act, repeatedly insisting she believed in Fiona and her uncle.

So, there is no cure for blindness.

For someone like Chloe, who is both blind and lacking intelligence, there’s truly no remedy.

…

Adrian’s expression was cold and stern.

“Wyatt, tell the investigators on the Isle of Whispers directly that my wife has been cleared of all suspicion. As long as she is not accused of being a suspect, they shouldn’t expect Cecilia to run around solving the case with them worldwide.”

Accompany Cecilia to Zentaria for evidence collection?

What a ridiculous notion.

Wyatt understood this as well.

Frankly, he had witnessed Chloe’s tragic death firsthand at the wedding, which still sent chills down his spine, making him hope this case could be solved quickly, or else even a man of nearly six-foot-three height would have nightmares.

“Alright, Young Master, Young Madam, I will convey these thoughts to the Isle of Whispers police.”

Cecilia hesitated for a while, her thoughts aligning with Wyatt’s.

Even to this day, she sometimes had nightmares about that night.

If she hadn’t whimsically gone to the top deck of the cruise ship to watch the school heartthrob Sean Grant paint, her suspicion might have been heavier.

Cecilia carefully glanced at Adrian, blinked her pretty eyes, and said earnestly.

“Adrian, why don’t you let me go to Zentaria? If you’re worried, you can send Wyatt with me as a bodyguard. The final exams are almost over, and I just need to pick up my grades and attend a class meeting next week. After that, I won’t need to return to Stellerton University until the new semester starts.”

“…”

He hadn’t expected his young wife to be so stubborn. He shared her curious nature to get to the bottom of things. Adrian was also very concerned about the suspect who nearly labeled his wife as a murderer and imprisoned her.

“Cecilia, but the New Year is almost here, and I feel it’s better to leave it to the police as it’s unlucky to get involved in such matters. Even with Wyatt accompanying you, I wouldn’t be at ease.”

“But…”

Adrian hesitated.

“I just happen to have two international conferences to attend in Zentaria, how about I go with you as well, but I can only stay for three days.”

“I wouldn’t ask for anything more!”
