Cecilia Vaughn returned to Starfall Bay with desserts, ready to place them on the entryway table, but suddenly noticed the tall, striking figure in the living room.

The man, tall and imposing, held a beautiful white rose in his hand. The rose seemed to carry the morning dew, pure and clear, and Adrian Law gently bent down to place it in the vase.

If any other man were to arrange flowers, it might seem somewhat effeminate, but to Cecilia, Adrian’s every movement was incredibly graceful and clean, reminiscent of a prince from television, pure and noble.

As she thought about it, she suddenly recalled the words Claire Sinclair had said to her.

— to envy being able to meet a man like Adrian Law after being released from prison.

It was not because of Adrian’s status and family background, but because he could accept Cecilia Vaughn’s past without any reservations and embrace a brand-new future.

The girl felt a bit emotional, and her footsteps involuntarily became heavier.

The man heard the sound of footsteps on the floor and couldn’t help but turn his head to glance lightly at Cecilia Vaughn.

“Cecilia, you’re back?”

Cecilia Vaughn nodded gently.

She put everything down and then wrapped her arms around the man’s slim waist from back to front.

“Adrian, it seems like I haven’t seen you for a few hours, and somehow I feel like I love you even more.”

“Why is your mouth so sweet today? Hmm?”

The man glanced over slightly, a teasing gleam flashing in his long, phoenix-like eyes.

Cecilia Vaughn’s face turned slightly red.

“Is it wrong to whisper sweet nothings to you without any reason?”

“That’s not like you at all.”

The man tilted his head thoughtfully, his mind momentarily flickering over today’s events with the “There are branches on the mountain” crew.

“Did you go meet the crew today?”

Adrian Law was unaware that Cecilia had squeezed in a meeting with Claire Sinclair and assumed she’d seen the other injured people on set, pondering how mortal life can be so fleeting.

No one knows when or where Death will suddenly snatch away the ones you love. For Death, it may be a mere moment, but for the family of those left injured, it may leave a lifelong imprint, an indelible scar.

…

Cecilia Vaughn realized Adrian Law’s thoughts were somewhat mistaken, initially planning to go along with him, but for some reason, a lump caught in her throat, compelling her to rest her head on his broad back.

“The explosion at the crew was one thing, but more importantly… I went to see Claire Sinclair.”

“The heroine of ‘There are branches on the mountain’?”

Due to Zion Prescott, Adrian Law’s impression of this woman wasn’t very favorable, yet knowing Cecilia Vaughn liked him, he left some room for leniency in his words.

“Claire and Jude Grant broke up.”

Upon hearing this, the man’s perfectly curved lips formed a wry smile, one of extreme irony.

“Didn’t expect this day to come so quickly.”

Adrian Law, meticulous in thought, connected the dots between Zion Prescott’s urgent visit to the crew today and Jude Grant’s hasty breakup, surmising a reason.

“Could it be because Jude Grant stumbled upon the relationship between Zion Prescott and Claire Sinclair?”

Seeing Adrian’s sarcastic smile, Cecilia Vaughn felt inexplicably upset.

“Adrian, you don’t need to have such a poor opinion of Claire.”

Although she was indeed wrong to hide her past relationship with Zion Prescott from Jude Grant, she didn’t juggle two relationships simultaneously.

If any faults were to be attributed, Zion Prescott’s mistakes might be even greater than Claire Sinclair’s.

Listening to his little wife defend another woman, Adrian Law sighed softly.

“I just don’t like her, that’s all.”

“Cecilia, why do you have to defend such a girl? I only have you in my heart as the best; isn’t that good?”

Adrian’s quick shifts in thought made Cecilia Vaughn amused yet helpless.

“Those are two separate issues, okay!”

The definition of “like” is broad, and of course, Cecilia Vaughn didn’t wish for Adrian Law to like other girls.

Nonetheless, she had to speak up for Claire Sinclair.

Now that Claire is no longer with Jude Grant and holds no lingering feelings for Zion Prescott…

“I’m a bit worried about her entering showbiz now. Lacking family background and a boyfriend’s support, she might inevitably encounter some dark things in the future.”

“Once she chose this path, she must see it through; do you understand?”

“Of course, she can choose to give up.”

Hearing the man’s merciless words left Cecilia Vaughn speechless, but she had to admit Adrian Law was right.

From the moment Claire Sinclair decided to enter the entertainment circle, she surely understood better than anyone how it is a vast melting pot.

Being uncorrupted by the wealth and greed within it is rare indeed.

I hope Claire can keep her original heart in the future.

Recalling the girl who sat with her tidily eating dessert in the shop, a bit more tenderness arose in Cecilia’s heart.

In this world, no one has it easy, but perhaps women endure more suffering than men.

Not only materially, but due to public opinion.

Cecilia Vaughn shook her head to dispel these thoughts, then turned to the entrance to place the tofu box dessert she’d bought in front of Adrian Law.

“Alright, I know you’re not fond of Claire, so let’s drop the subject. I bought you some desserts today; do you want to try them?”

Desserts?

The man furrowed his brow slightly, then looked toward the box Cecilia Vaughn held.

Cecilia quickly opened the box as if presenting a treasure.

“You probably haven’t tasted tofu box before; it seems to have become popular over from Crestwick. I was recommended it by a friend and it left a lasting impression. Since then, I’ve tried many places, but they were either too sweet, too greasy, or lacked the aroma of tofu.”

“Only this one strikes the perfect balance, and has a chilled feeling.”

As the girl spoke, she blinked her sparkling eyes, tempting one to steal a kiss, which Adrian indeed did…

“Is it really that good? I find it hard to believe.”

Adrian curved his lips, watching Cecilia Vaughn in an almost amused manner.

“Cecilia, why don’t you try a bite first?”

Cecilia was momentarily speechless.

“I saved a whole box for you, no need to make me taste again. I’ve eaten plenty over there!”

Despite her teasing, Cecilia knew eating one more bite wouldn’t add pounds, so she scooped a small bite with a spoon and brought it to her lips.

But before she could finish swallowing, suddenly, Adrian’s lips closed in, and he kissed her using the spoon…
