Mr. Law's Official Announcement: He is a Wife-Doting Fanatic!
Chapter 642: Adrian, Do You Like It?
Hearing the regret in Cecilia Vaughn’s words, Claire Sinclair felt a pain in her heart.
Didn’t she also know that after breaking up with Jude Grant, she might never meet another man who would connect with her so deeply?
But Jude Grant’s disdainful gaze, like a thousand steel knives, shredded any possibility they had.
Due to some special childhood experiences and her past relationships, Claire Sinclair became cautious in love, wanting to have control over all possibilities.
She didn’t want a love that would end without a trace.
Her relationship with Jude Grant had a solid foundation, and aside from Zion Prescott, they didn’t have any other issues, never raised their voices or argued, and were considered a model couple.
Yet, in Jude Grant’s heart, the issue with Zion Prescott was the biggest threat.
In a relationship, there can be flaws and imperfections, but jealousy is intolerable.
...
Once jealousy existed, it could push two hearts further apart, even if it started from something false, the end result would be mutual resentment.
Claire Sinclair didn’t want her future, even if she married Jude Grant, to include doubts that her child might be someone else’s.
Additionally, as a female celebrity, her work nature was special and might involve intimate interactions like hugs with other male actors.
Jude Grant used to be quite jealous. But after the issue with Zion Prescott, he became anxious, even doubting her loyalty because of her long working hours.
Claire Sinclair had seen many such cases before, and female celebrities especially fear family or relationship issues. Without trust, a relationship is like a castle in the air—seemingly grand and solid, but it could fall apart with a gust of wind.
...
Cecilia Vaughn caught onto Claire Sinclair’s resolute tone. She sighed and hesitantly asked.
"Didn’t Jude Grant ever try to stop you? Or do you have no regrets?"
"There’s no medicine for regret in this world..."
Claire Sinclair’s eyes were sad as she gently sipped the light tea from her cup.
"Cecilia, in truth, I envy you. Although your experiences might seem too complex in the eyes of the world, I can see that Mr. Law genuinely loves and accepts you."
Suddenly shifting the topic to Adrian Law and herself, Cecilia Vaughn’s delicate face couldn’t help but blush slightly.
She knew she was incredibly lucky to have met someone like Adrian Law—perhaps it was a blessing from past lifetimes.
...
Right now, Claire Sinclair was heartbroken, and Cecilia Vaughn couldn’t trample on someone else’s pain with her own happiness.
"Claire, it’s not that I’m urging you to get back with Jude Grant. But I thought about it, and that Young Master Grant really treated you well. Remember that time your clothes got torn? He rushed to bring you new ones."
"Such a considerate, handsome, and good-natured guy is really rare nowadays."
Of course, Jude Grant’s family background was also good, but there was no need to stress this point.
After all, Claire Sinclair’s beauty and talent were evident, and even if she didn’t become immensely popular in the entertainment industry, the chance of wealthy heirs pursuing her wasn’t low.
However, whether they were as dependable as Jude Grant was another matter.
...
Claire Sinclair gently stirred the tea in her bowl.
"It’s not that I don’t understand. But Cecilia, could you accept a day when your partner doubts your fidelity?"
Cecilia Vaughn thought carefully.
"Claire, no matter what, I think you and Doctor Prescott are in the past. I also believe you’re not the kind of woman who would ride two horses at once."
"If that’s the case, if Jude Grant could temporarily put aside this issue and work on building a new future with you, would you consider giving him a chance?"
"Impossible."
Claire Sinclair let out a pained smile, and suddenly tears fell.
"Cecilia, do you know? Jude once told me something. He could accept that my first boyfriend was anyone, but never Zion Prescott."
"Why?"
"Because he couldn’t accept that the person he admired the most was once with the one he loved the most, and even more so..."
The rest Claire Sinclair didn’t continue, but Cecilia Vaughn already understood.
Cecilia Vaughn thought over and over again and finally mirrored Claire Sinclair’s hesitation, tracing the tea in her bowl with a spoon.
Perhaps this was a matter of fate. Living in such anguish wasn’t good for anyone.
...
"So what are you planning to do next? Is there a chance you might reconcile with Doctor Prescott?"
Truthfully, in her heart, Cecilia Vaughn had a soft spot for Doctor Prescott.
Of course, this wasn’t about romantic love.
But Zion Prescott seemed steady and reliable, and Cecilia had a really good impression of him.
"Absolutely not!"
Claire Sinclair shook her head rapidly, as if hearing the biggest joke on Earth.
"On this matter, Jude and I have the same answer. If in the future I would be with any man in the world, it would never be Zion Prescott."
"So that means you might reconcile with Jude Grant?"
"Not really."
As they say, a good horse doesn’t turn back to graze old grass. Claire Sinclair knew she couldn’t look back once she ended things.
It’s no wonder Jude Grant said in his text that she was such a heartless and cold woman.
This assessment seemed to echo what Zion Prescott said about him years ago.
Could it be history repeating itself?
...
Seeing the pain in the girl’s eyes, Cecilia Vaughn felt she had pushed too far with her questions today and finally stepped forward to take Claire Sinclair’s hand.
"Claire, how about this? A breakup is tough. Let me take you for something delicious."
"How about hotpot? It’s not exactly healthy, but it’s the best comfort for a broken heart."
"Or maybe some dessert? A new cake shop just opened nearby, and Mona Summers said their flavors are excellent, especially the tiramisu, which is soft and sweet."
"Eating desserts will lift your mood!"
Claire Sinclair hesitated and shook her head.
"But I’m on a diet lately."
Cecilia Vaughn looked at Claire’s slender waist and was rendered speechless.
Claire Sinclair weighed easily 10 to 15 pounds less than herself.
The celebrity life was far more demanding in terms of maintaining a figure than ordinary people.
In the harsh scrutiny of HD cameras, 90 pounds could appear heavy, while 70 pounds often seemed too bony.
Generally, female stars around 1.65 meters tall maintained a weight of over 80 pounds.
Evidently, Claire Sinclair was no exception.
...
"Come on, come on, one meal won’t make you gain weight! Relax!"
Swayed by Cecilia Vaughn’s tempting words, Claire Sinclair finally agreed.
Though... Cecilia did eat most of the food.
She even packed a soy milk dessert for Adrian Law. She wondered if such treats would suit his palate...
