Mr. Law's Official Announcement: He is a Wife-Doting Fanatic!
Chapter 640: Cecilia, Do You Understand?
The driver was frightened when he saw Claire Sinclair like this.
Originally, having such a beautiful female passenger in the car was quite pleasing, but seeing that Claire Sinclair seemed mentally off during the ride, and even demanded a quick start without specifying a destination, simply saying to drive anywhere and she’d cover the fare, made him uneasy.
Now Claire Sinclair was crying and laughing, looking utterly hopeless, which made the driver even more anxious.
“Young lady, where do you actually want to go?”
“Listen here, young miss, there’s no obstacle in this world that can’t be overcome, so don’t take it to heart and please keep your chin up!”
If this young passenger was intending to resolve her issues by ending things, he’d prefer not to get involved!
If his car ends up being labeled as unlucky because of Claire Sinclair, the taxi driver honestly wouldn’t be able to handle it.
…
Claire Sinclair didn’t expect the taxi driver’s imagination to run so wild, which made her wipe her tears in embarrassment.
“Don’t worry, driver uncle, I won’t do anything foolish.”
How could she even consider doing such a thing?
She still had people who needed her care.
Not even facing death would give her the qualification.
Besides, Claire Sinclair wasn’t someone who would end her life over love.
There’s nothing wrong with loving Jude Grant, but in Claire Sinclair’s heart, when you love someone, always keep thirty percent for yourself.
Because if you invest everything into love, you often lose sight of your own direction.
By loving someone seventy percent, you still have thirty percent to love yourself.
This way, it might not be enough to obtain a love that consumes everything, but at least when you get hurt, you won’t be left so defeated that you lack the courage to live.
…
The driver uncle listened to Claire Sinclair’s firm reassurance but remained unconvinced.
He coughed lightly twice.
“Well, it’s great that you have an open mind, young lady. I noticed that young man earlier was also quite heated. You young ones just tend to be a bit hot-headed, can’t you discuss your issues calmly?”
“If something serious happens, parents will worry.”
“I don’t have parents.”
Claire Sinclair’s expression suddenly fell, and she earnestly explained to the driver uncle without focusing on her own expression in the rearview mirror.
A daunting gloom enveloped her delicate features, making her appear somewhat pitiable.
…
No parents?
Could you have possibly been born from a rock?
The driver uncle felt like making a snarky remark but realized from Claire Sinclair’s serious demeanor that she wasn’t joking.
“This… does it mean you’re an orphan? Ah, heavens above…”
“I have a brother though…”
Claire Sinclair forced a smile, seemingly unwilling to delve into the topic.
The driver uncle understood as well; a pair of siblings without parents struggled in this world, and that was likely hard to talk about.
Although Claire Sinclair was this beautiful, her life surprisingly wasn’t perfect, and perhaps not as fulfilling as an ordinary taxi driver who had a warm home with a wife and children and, though not rich, was at least happy.
For ordinary people’s lives, this is actually quite satisfactory.
…
“Ahem, young lady, my earlier words might have been a bit harsh; I hope you don’t mind. So, please give me a location, as I can’t just randomly drive you around the city, right?”
“After all, we use ride-hailing apps that can clearly track directions, and if the platform realizes I’m endlessly circling around, it might suspect my intentions towards you!”
Listening to the driver’s grievances, Claire Sinclair wiped away tears again and pondered for a while, realizing she might have nowhere to go.
She messaged Director Chapman to ask for leave. After all, it’s reasonable for the actors to request a couple of days off to relieve stress from such a significant accident like an explosion in the crew, and directors usually agree.
Of course, Claire Sinclair didn’t intend to take a long leave; just a day and a half to rest, and then resume work as usual.
If love is lost and she also loses her means to make a living, being labeled as uncommitted would lead to an even more miserable future.
…
Claire Sinclair didn’t expect her mind to become increasingly rational.
Maybe she truly was as Jude Grant described.
A cold-hearted person?
Claire Sinclair stared blankly at her phone for a long time, seeing all the calls and messages from Jude Grant in her blocked inbox, since she had blacklisted him.
Surprisingly, Zion Prescott had also sent one.
But the man, for unknown reasons, only appeared once with a different number than Jude Grant’s, and never appeared again.
Maybe he also thought disturbing her and Jude Grant was wrong?
Unfortunately, it’s too late to regret.
She and Jude Grant would never return to their days of mutual devotion.
…
A bitter taste spread through Claire Sinclair’s throat.
She sniffed, exited the blocked inbox, and suddenly clicked on a string of other numbers.
It was Cecilia Vaughn’s.
Along with calls, there were many inquiry messages.
In Stellerton, Claire Sinclair had no real friends. Though she wasn’t bullied or given cold shoulders in the crew, everyone else was somewhat experienced.
They were somewhat envious, perhaps even jealous, of Claire Sinclair.
After all, starting out with such good resources, who could honestly claim not to be envious?
Even the male lead acting alongside Grace Sinclair, despite being crowned as an emperor, jestingly told Claire Sinclair.
He truly envied her good fortune.
In this industry, it’s tough for both men and women; many go to great lengths seeking positions, whilst opportunities others struggle to acquire come to Claire Sinclair like an opened window.
Claire Sinclair understood she hit the jackpot, and after sighing, finally replied to Cecilia Vaughn.
—— Cecilia, do you have time? Can we meet up?
Professionally and personally, Claire Sinclair suddenly wanted to see Cecilia Vaughn.
Although she hadn’t known the girl for long, Cecilia Vaughn was one of her few friends in Stellerton.
…
When Cecilia Vaughn arrived, she saw Claire Sinclair sitting by the window, looking listless, with slightly disheveled clothes.
“Claire, what’s wrong?”
Cecilia Vaughn immediately noticed the marks on Claire Sinclair’s cheek, feeling surprised and concerned.
As Claire Sinclair turned her face, Cecilia Vaughn was even more shocked to see the tears.
“What happened?”
Claire Sinclair’s lips moved twice.
“Cecilia, I’ve broken up…”
“What?!”
Cecilia Vaughn gulped, thinking for a moment before hesitantly asking.
“Is it about Doctor Prescott?”
