Mr. Law's Official Announcement: He is a Wife-Doting Fanatic!
Chapter 581: Driven to Explosion
Cecilia saw the text message and initially thought she might have misunderstood it.
After all, Evan is a high school senior, how could he be in such a dire situation that he needs saving?
Could it be Evan’s heart condition acting up?
Cecilia furrowed her brow in surprise, but on second thought, if that were the case, Evan should have already been carried to the hospital by his classmates.
Moreover, Cecilia remembered Zion mentioning a couple of days ago that her brother’s condition had improved, becoming more stable by the day, and studying for the college entrance exam like a regular person shouldn’t be an issue, as long as he doesn’t stay up excessively.
...
Cecilia’s mind worked quickly, and she immediately picked up her phone to inspect the message closely. It was indeed sent from Evan’s number.
She instantly thought of calling, but the call was outright rejected.
What on earth is going on?
Listening to the mechanical yet pleasant busy tone from the automatic female voice, Cecilia was momentarily stunned, then checked her WeChat.
And sure enough, Evan had also contacted her on WeChat.
Just now, Evan had sent her an exclamation mark, followed by the location of a certain place.
——Elysian Fields All-Nighter City.
Seeing that name, Cecilia’s delicate brows tightened unconsciously.
She had a clear concept of time, immediately recalling it was Saturday today. As a high school senior, Stellerton First High only gets two days off a month, and it happens to be the Saturday with no break, logically Evan should be at school reviewing lessons with others, what is he doing at such a shady place?
...
In Cecilia’s impression, her brother Evan has always been an obedient child, especially with his heart condition, how could he possibly withstand the deafening, seductive music of such a place?
Could it be some classmate playing a prank, taking Evan to such a place just to broaden his horizon?
Seventeen or eighteen-year-old boys are at the age of impulsiveness, and considering that in Veridia people generally marry later than in other countries, everyone is busy studying. Though high school students have a vague fondness toward the opposite sex, it’s out of reach.
Thinking that some boys might have misled her brother, Cecilia felt an immediate, uncontrollable anger.
She originally wanted to call Adrian but realized it’s quite embarrassing to discuss such matters. If Evan ends up blaming her for embarrassing him in front of his brother-in-law, it might be a tough situation.
...
Cecilia sighed, thought for a moment, and decided to message her best friend Mona Summers.
——Evan seems to be stuck at Elysian Fields All-Nighter City. I’ve never been to that place. If you can’t reach me in an hour by phone, please find Adrian for me. But if I’m back, then you don’t need to mention it to him.
It’s just an all-nighter city; even if there’s some dark force, generally it wouldn’t lead to any fatal incident. After all, in these times, officials are strict, and Cecilia felt she could afford an hour’s delay.
After making all preparations, Cecilia immediately stepped on the gas, eager to rush to Elysian Fields All-Nighter City.
It was only at the intersection that Cecilia suddenly realized she had no idea how to get there. Smacking her forehead, she quickly used her phone for navigation.
The place was about a thirty-minute drive from Cecilia’s location, yet not close nor far from Stellerton First Central High School — only about fifteen minutes away.
Considering her brother might be in puberty, unwilling to study properly but keen on chasing women — especially night scene princesses — Cecilia’s anger rose further.
"Evan, oh Evan, you’re unwell and not learning anything good. If something really happens, how would you want your sister to face our deceased mom?"
...
Even though Wendy is no longer here, the family’s discipline used to be very strict. Cecilia couldn’t understand why her brother would go to such a place, likely skipping school and climbing over walls to get out.
With a mindset of grief for his misfortune and anger for his lack of effort, Cecilia pressed the accelerator faster and faster, nearly driving at a prohibitive speed, only ensuring not to cross the official red line.
Normally a thirty-minute drive took only fifteen minutes as Cecilia reached the specific location.
...
Once out of the car, Cecilia hurriedly rushed into the Elysian Fields Club.
It was slightly different from what Cecilia had imagined; the club’s music wasn’t deafening, but the lights were still an illusory seductive purple, occasionally shining on the girls in sailor outfits dancing on stage.
The skirt was so short that one could nearly see the girl’s hidden charms. Many spectators surrounded her loudly cheering, while some crude men, eyes full of lust, stuffed handfuls of red banknotes into the sailor girl’s chest.
...
This unsightly scene caused veins on Cecilia’s forehead to bulge.
——Evan, this little brat has truly gone wild, coming here for entertainment, is he insane?
Though Cecilia isn’t much older than Evan, their father Gregory has always been neglectful toward them, and their mother Wendy had passed away early, leaving Cecilia to bear the responsibility of "mother" at this age.
It’s difficult being the elder sister, something Cecilia never felt before. But thinking about Evan possibly committing some filthy acts made Cecilia want to beat him senseless.
A guy with two unsteady steps and bluish eye corners, clearly a biker punk, was watching the sailor girl dance but happened to glance at Cecilia entering through the door.
His eyes lit up, and he immediately whistled.
"Hey, gorgeous, care for a whisky? My treat!"
Though Cecilia’s outfit was too conservative, wearing a thick down jacket indoors with the air conditioning blasting, her natural coolness was out of place in this restless environment.
Cecilia frowned, wishing to refuse instantly but remembered she didn’t know where Evan was, so she smiled slyly at him.
"Hello, have you seen a boy who looks about fifty or sixty percent like me, probably seventeen or eighteen, still a high school student, maybe wearing a school uniform from First High, maybe not."
...
The biker punk, mesmerized by Cecilia’s smile, felt a stir in his heart. His droopy triangular eyes spun, his smirk becoming more rogue-like.
"Hey, pretty lady, you’re here searching for someone, huh? I was wondering why I’ve never seen you at Elysian Fields before."
"Oh well, miss, why not accompany me for a glass of whisky, and I might tell you the specific answer?"
Cecilia looked at the dark liquor the man offered, but her heart remained calm.
——Drinking a stranger’s drink in a nightclub, unless she’s gone mad.
