Mr. Law's Official Announcement: He is a Wife-Doting Fanatic!
Chapter 579: Making a Man an Unwitting Father
The man embraced Cecilia Vaughn with great force, his eyes slightly tinged with red. It should have appeared fierce, yet there was an incongruous tenderness in his expression.
"Cecilia..."
He sighed softly at Cecilia Vaughn’s name, as if merely saying it could grant him a form of redemption.
Seeing Adrian Law this way, Cecilia Vaughn felt perplexed and uneasy.
"Adrian, what’s wrong?"
The man looked deeply at the girl in front of him, his previously gloomy brows gradually relaxing.
"Nothing... just let me hold you for a while."
Cecilia Vaughn’s lips moved slightly, but she ultimately didn’t ask.
Actually, even though the soundproofing in the room was excellent, thinking about Adrian Law and his father Frank Law talking alone in the parlor, even without hearing the content, Cecilia Vaughn could guess a thing or two.
If it wasn’t about the irritation over his deceased mother and sister, then it was about Frank Law previously neglecting her, and Adrian arguing on her behalf.
Or perhaps, all three reasons combined.
...
Cecilia Vaughn didn’t want to persuade Adrian Law about the importance of father-son relationships; interactions between people are mutual, and Frank Law had never respected her as his daughter-in-law.
As for Adrian Law having a cheating and unfaithful father, Cecilia Vaughn understood deeply from Gregory Vaughn the unfairness and futility of the world.
"Adrian... don’t be sad, I will always be by your side."
Ultimately, none of these truly affected them; in this lifetime, the only one who could walk and support each other through life is one’s partner.
Parents might grow old, and children might be twenty-odd years younger than you, ultimately unable to accompany you for long.
Only your partner is the one who will face each day and night with you.
She was willing to offer strength to the man before her.
Adrian Law understood that no one has to be strong at every moment.
She had never hoped obsessively for Adrian Law to be this way.
In her heart, Cecilia Vaughn sometimes wished she could become Adrian Law’s haven of peace, willing to journey through storms with him hand in hand.
...
Adrian Law rested his head gently on the girl’s shoulder, slightly bending his knees due to their height difference.
Cecilia Vaughn’s mood gradually calmed down.
And coming out of the room, Stacy Summers, the Law Family matriarch, saw the scene of the two leaning on each other.
"Ahem... I’m still here, this old woman..."
Ah, young people, they do love to flaunt their affection.
Stacy Summers watched Cecilia Vaughn and Adrian Law with a smile. Although teasing, the lines on her face were more relaxed than flowers, clearly showing how delighted she was.
...
"Grandmother..."
Cecilia Vaughn’s cheeks flushed slightly before she let go of Adrian Law’s shoulder.
However, Adrian Law, although no longer holding her, reached down and deftly grasped Cecilia Vaughn’s wrist.
"Cecilia, you should have called me beforehand."
Remembering the earlier situation, a trace of displeasure flashed in Adrian Law’s heart.
——Even though it was Rosalind White who got slapped, being outnumbered, if Rosalind got angry and really started a fight, Frank Law might not side with Cecilia.
...
Cecilia Vaughn giggled but misunderstood Adrian Law’s intention, thinking he was worried she wouldn’t trust that nothing happened between him and Rosalind White.
"Alright, alright, it’s all in the past. How could I not trust you? You and your childhood sweetheart..."
Receiving a sharp look from Adrian Law, Cecilia Vaughn hurriedly changed her tone.
"Alright, alright, she’s not your childhood sweetheart, it’s Miss Rosalind White, okay? Rosalind White who slandered having an affair and a child with you, I trust her not at all. Even if you weren’t with me that night, I wouldn’t jump to such conclusions."
Loving someone doesn’t mean unconditional trust.
But at the very least, it requires the ability to trust others and the patience to investigate and gather evidence.
To put it in another way, if Cecilia Vaughn hadn’t stayed with Adrian Law that night, she would have tried to calm herself, letting Adrian Law confront Rosalind White directly, and even go to the hospital to verify the truth about the child.
...
Adrian Law understood Cecilia Vaughn’s intent.
He reached out and gently ruffled the girl’s hair.
"Cecilia, I mean, don’t easily resort to hitting people in the future. After all, this is the Law Family’s old residence. Even if my father doesn’t help her, Rosalind White’s father is present, too, and if it really comes to a fight, I’m afraid you’ll be at a disadvantage."
Though being called Young Madam was helpful, in the Law Residence, it was still Frank Law who had the final say, especially since he wasn’t fond of Cecilia and was partial to Rosalind due to those Heavenly Destiny Noble Lady rumors.
Thinking of all this, Adrian Law’s brow furrowed slightly, and his expression became even more solemn.
"If I can’t make it in time, it’s okay to call Wyatt over."
Wyatt Law was an old hand at the Law Residence and, although he always worked by Adrian’s side, he was the most reliable, both steady and skillful. Many punks at the Law Residence feared Wyatt’s fists and kicks.
"Alright, alright, got it. I can handle myself, can’t I?"
Listening to their conversation, Stacy Summers felt confused, especially when recalling Rosalind White’s tear-streaked face as she stormed out. She felt uneasy.
"Grandson, what are you and Cecilia discussing? When did Rosalind ever stay alone with you? She even cried saying she’s carrying your child?"
Stacy Summers definitely believed Adrian Law wasn’t the type to fool around.
If he truly wanted Rosalind White, even setting aside her willingness, Adrian had plenty of opportunities and means to be with her. Why wait until after marrying Cecilia Vaughn to go back for a fling?
Adrian Law’s eyes glinted with a dark light.
"Grandmother, you should be more cautious of Rosalind White in the future. She might hold a grudge after suffering this time."
"Maybe that night she drank too much, so in a muddled state, she was with someone else..."
Adrian, mindful of Stacy Summers’ kindness to Rosalind White, didn’t want her to worry too much. So he concealed Rosalind’s intent to harm with incense. After all, it ended up backfiring on her alone.
Stacy Summers was immediately shocked.
"So does that mean... Rosalind is pregnant with an unknown man’s child?"
Seeing the concern on the Law Family matron’s face, Adrian Law let out a cold smile and gave Stacy Summers another word of advice.
"Grandmother... even if she’s pregnant, it’s her own doing. She’s committed such disgraceful acts and even tried framing me and Cecilia. What do you think?"
"I suggest you don’t get involved, lest you get tainted."
Thinking about how Rosalind White had pushed her before, trying to trick her grandson into fatherhood, Stacy Summers finally regained her senses and slowly nodded.
"Alright... I won’t meddle in this mess..."
