Mr. Law's Official Announcement: He is a Wife-Doting Fanatic!
Chapter 574: Shameless Double Standards, Truly Shameful
Gazing at the handsome and unparalleled face of the man in front of her, Rosalind White blinked bashfully and expectantly.
"Adrian, I went for a consultation at the hospital a few days ago. The doctor said my period is delayed; it’s very likely I’m pregnant. Adrian, you’re going to be a father. Are you happy?"
Saying that, Rosalind couldn’t help but glance provocatively at Cecilia Vaughn.
To Rosalind’s deep disappointment, Cecilia didn’t even bother to lift her eyelids, as if what she was saying was merely a discussion about what to eat tomorrow.
Why is it like this?
...
Seeing Cecilia looking so calm and composed, others inexplicably felt a sense of unease.
Heart, inexplicably, began to panic?
Rosalind didn’t want to put too much pressure on herself, so she eagerly looked at Adrian, trying to get a response from him.
However, Adrian just frowned at her, bypassed her directly, and walked toward Cecilia.
"Cecilia, did you fight with her?"
Realizing what Adrian was talking about, Rosalind’s heart was filled with joy. She quickly pretended to be pitifully aggrieved and shed two tears, looking generous yet wronged.
"Adrian, don’t blame Cecilia. I know it’s hard for her to accept all of a sudden that I’m pregnant with your child. It’s normal for her to hit me a couple of times."
"Cecilia’s character is a bit too fiery. You really shouldn’t punish her. Previously, Uncle Law already talked to her about it. Although she might be stubborn and argued back with Uncle Law, I know she didn’t intend to be so disrespectful..."
Rosalind seemed to be pleading for Cecilia, yet every word pointed to Cecilia’s lack of upbringing.
Cecilia gave Rosalind a mocking glance, just about to speak, when Adrian suddenly took her hand, apparently treating Rosalind’s words as insignificant.
"Cecilia, did your hand hurt when you hit her?"
He noticed that Rosalind’s left cheek was quite swollen, indicating that Cecilia was really angry at the time and used considerable force.
...
Seeing Cecilia was overtaken by anger, Adrian understood how absurd it all seemed to her. For some reason, in some ways, he and Cecilia were indeed very much in tune.
"I’ve told you, such matters should be left to Wyatt. He has thick skin, and it’s best for him to do it."
At that moment, still working overtime at Law Headquarters, Wyatt Law inexplicably sneezed.
Who’s cursing him?
...
Looking at Adrian’s gentle and caring demeanor, the annoyance in Cecilia’s heart was somewhat soothed.
But thinking about Rosalind mentioning having a child with Adrian, even if it were false, she couldn’t help but feel displeased.
Cecilia arrogantly raised her eyebrows.
"How could I dare let Wyatt hit a pregnant woman? Didn’t you hear? She said she’s carrying your precious child."
"Oh, I forgot to mention, Uncle Law also wants me to consider stepping down gracefully. Wait, he later said we could live together as three and raise a child of unknown origin, which really leaves me at a loss."
"What do you mean by a child of unknown origin?"
Rosalind was furious, her brows furrowed in anger.
"Cecilia, I know you’re still angry at me, but this child is mine and Adrian’s. Adrian... you wouldn’t doubt my innocence, would you?"
Rosalind said, tears dripping down her cheeks, and her gentle face appeared even more pitiable, evoking a desire to embrace and comfort her.
...
But Cecilia only found this woman repugnant.
Adrian, however, was completely unmoved.
He frowned, looking at Frank Law with a suddenly serious demeanor, instinctively putting Cecilia behind him protectively.
"Father, my marriage with Cecilia is between the two of us, and it’s not for you to decide!"
"What are you talking about? Do you still see me as your father?"
Frank Law was seething with anger, especially seeing Adrian consistently indulging Cecilia, which made him even more infuriated.
"Do you know, you are the eldest grandson of the Law Family? If you have no children in the future, people will laugh at you!"
"This Vaughn woman probably damaged her body while in prison. If she causes you to miss out, you’ll become a laughingstock in high society!"
Adrian’s narrow eyes squinted dangerously, his expression growing increasingly fierce.
"Father, what are you talking about? Cecilia and I have only been married for a few months. You and my mother had me years after getting married!"
Frank felt a pang of guilt when he heard Susan Roswell’s name.
"Adrian, how can you compare your mother with Cecilia Vaughn? We were busy with other matters back then, but think about it, Cecilia has frequently accompanied you to the traditional medicine clinic. Rumors are already circulating that your health has issues. If something goes wrong in the future, you’ll be the one laughed at!"
Frank tried to advise him.
"Now that Rosalind is pregnant with your child, if you don’t want to divorce Cecilia, you should at least let Rosalind have the baby; that would be the proper course."
...
Cecilia’s expression was mocking.
"Uncle Law, how can you be so sure that the child in Rosalind’s womb is my husband’s blood?"
Even if it were, Cecilia wouldn’t want it.
She wouldn’t want that child, nor the man who stained their marital fidelity.
But now, Cecilia knew Adrian wouldn’t wrong her, and that’s why she could stand here calmly. Otherwise, she would have left long ago.
...
Upon hearing this, Rosalind immediately wailed mournfully.
"Cecilia, what are you saying?! How could I ever be willing to be with anyone other than Adrian..."
"That’s not necessarily certain."
Cecilia coldly stared at her and then directly looked at Frank Law.
"Believe it or not, Uncle Law, you might as well go check the surveillance at the five-star hotel at Stellerton University on that night. As for whom Miss White spent that lovely evening with, I’m not sure."
Rosalind didn’t want to believe these words, bitterly looking at Adrian.
"Adrian... you always believe in me, right? I remember that night clearly; I was with you..."
Adrian’s gaze didn’t fall on Rosalind at all; he just nodded affirmatively with Cecilia.
"Naturally, I was with Cecilia."
"..."
Rosalind listened, dazed, unwilling to accept that this man would be so heartless as to abandon his own flesh and blood.
But...
Reflecting carefully, that night, she inhaled so much alluring incense, her mind was indeed unclear.
And the man who later came to the room, although tall and muscular with a six-pack, seemed to be even more robust than Adrian...
