Mr. Grant Treats Me Like a Treasure
Chapter 1107 - 1116: Comforting My Sister
"Maybe the wind got into its eyes."
"I’ll blow it away, don’t cry."
Wyatt knew why she was crying, so he purposefully moved closer to Serena’s face, smiling as he blew on her eyes.
Serena was amused, looking at the face similar to hers, tears finally uncontrollably rolling down.
"I’m really not crying because I’m sad."
"Seeing them, it hurts!"
The words were contradictory; Serena felt both sad and not sad.
Her and Wyatt’s parents finally came together again, still so in love. But twenty years ago, they split up, causing Serena a pain that would never fade in this lifetime.
She felt troubled, her throat dry, her heart aching, and then she thought of Ethan who had left, altogether feeling discomfort everywhere.
Wyatt understood her; compared to him, his sister had suffered more, and as a brother, he also felt sad at this moment.
He didn’t say much, just reached out and pulled Serena into his arms.
"It won’t hurt, it won’t hurt anymore."
The past will stay in the past, he wouldn’t let Serena feel hurt, and Simon and Claire wouldn’t either.
Serena stayed at the Sterling family’s old mansion, and Claire accompanied her.
The old mansion instantly became lively; even the elderly Sterling, who loved going out to play cards and mahjong, stayed home every day to chat with Serena and Claire.
Initially, Claire was worried the elderly lady Sterling might not welcome her and didn’t know how to win her favor.
With Serena there, plus the regular visits from the first Mrs. Sterling, whenever the four of them were bored, they gathered around a mahjong table to play.
Relationships developed quickly at the mahjong table.
Twenty years ago, the elderly Mrs. Sterling neither liked nor disliked Claire, but after Simon sold his shares of the Sterling Corporation for Claire, naturally, she began to dislike her.
After this roundabout journey, Claire became her daughter-in-law.
What could she object to now? And now that Claire was pregnant, everything seemed perfect.
However, with two pregnant women in the house, Serena and Claire couldn’t play for long.
Serena felt heavy, her back aching from sitting too long.
Claire was sleepy from fatigue.
The elderly Mrs. Sterling called in the elderly Mr. Sterling. Mr. Sterling, who also played cards outside, switched places to play with his wife and daughter-in-law; whether willing or not, he agreed.
But Simon, who had never touched such things, was forced to play when they were one player short.
At first, Simon lost miserably, but being the smartest in the Sterling family, it only took a couple of rounds before he started winning.
In the end, the other three were repeatedly outsmarted, losing to him so much that none of them wanted to play with him.
Whenever Wyatt was home, he’d play. Wyatt respected the elderly, wouldn’t dare provoke the elderly Mrs. Sterling, and if Mr. Sterling glared, he wouldn’t dare claim his tiles; with the first Mrs. Sterling, being threatened and coaxed, Wyatt was too embarrassed to win their money.
By the end of the day, it was Wyatt who ended up losing.
Through Simon and Wyatt separately playing mahjong with them, the three family members unanimously felt Simon should go to the company.
Mr. Sterling found a marriage prospect excuse for Wyatt to let Simon go to the company, while Wyatt stayed to play mahjong with them.
Claire, awake and not sleepy, sat beside Wyatt watching, Serena occasionally stood up to move around; seeing the joyful family, she felt very happy.
She recorded a video to send to Ethan. Returning to Solaria, Ethan was truly busy.
The two video-chatted around nine o’clock in the evening, just before Serena went to sleep. At this time, Ethan was still at the company, making Serena’s heart ache.
