"W-Were you not supposed to be resting in your room, Second Young Master? Why are you down here again?" Blair Williams asked with a guilty smile, trying to maintain her composure.

"Hmm, I couldn’t sleep, so I came down to watch TV."

Joseph Lancaster lounged leisurely on the sofa, his long legs crossed. He looked the same as usual, yet Blair felt something was different about him.

She forced a smile and bent down to untie her shoelaces.

"Sister Wang, what took you so late?" Joseph Lancaster asked casually, as if making small talk.

Blair’s hands froze in mid-action, her body trembling slightly as she felt guilty about her recent misdeeds.

However, it was only a brief pause before she continued calmly untying her shoelaces.

"Ah, I ate too much tonight, felt bloated, so I went out for a walk to digest."

Joseph chuckled quietly to himself and asked without showing any emotion, "Is that so? I have some yeast tablets in my room; would you like me to get you some?"

Blair, having changed into slippers, politely declined with a smile, "No, no need for that. I took a walk in the yard, and I’m feeling much better now."

She walked over and sat on the sofa next to Joseph, focusing her attention on the television again.

Joseph shifted his gaze slightly to look at her. It was the first time he realized his servant had such a calm demeanor, suitable even for being a spy.

He had received a call from his brother earlier, informing him that his servant had sneaked over to his brother to make complaints about him...

Blair’s eyes were fixed on the TV, but her mind was on Joseph beside her, feeling uneasy under his burning gaze.

Joseph, neither speaking nor watching TV, was looking at the calm-acting Blair, with a faint smile on his lips.

Feeling guilty about her doings and being watched so blatantly by Joseph made Blair incredibly uncomfortable. She turned her head, forcing a stiff smile as she asked, "Second Young Master, do you also like watching ’Fearless’?"

Joseph took a deep breath, withdrew his gaze, and stood up at the same time, "Not really, you go ahead and watch. You won’t be able to see it tomorrow."

With that, he held the handrail and made his way upstairs.

It was only after Joseph’s figure disappeared around the corner that Blair withdrew her gaze, muttering to herself, "The Second Young Master sure knows how to joke. If I finish my work early tomorrow, I can still watch TV!"

...

Daxton Lancaster returned with the chill of the autumn night clinging to him, his gloomy expressions as cold as the dark night.

Seeing him return, Violet Zimmerman sat halfway up, puzzled, "Daxton, what did Sister Wang from Joseph’s place want with you?"

Daxton gave her a cursory glance, not heading directly to the bed but sitting on the sofa, lighting a cigarette from the pack before him.

The sound of a lighter igniting was heard as Daxton lowered his gaze to light the cigarette, his brows habitually furrowing.

Violet lay on the bed, watching him, waiting for him to speak.

With a "click," Daxton snapped the lighter shut and said expressionlessly, "She came to report to me, saying you go to Joseph’s room every night."

Violet suddenly changed her expression, "Daxton... does she know about my affair with Joseph?"

If she does know and spreads the news, there’s no telling how his parents and grandfather would react, not to mention that the second branch of the family wouldn’t let this go.

Not only would their main branch’s reputation be tarnished, but Daxton’s position as the family head could also be jeopardized...

"Daxton, what do we do? If she tells them, we’re in trouble!"
