Emily Zimmerman bit her lip tightly, "Is that... Yuan Jiang from the class next door?"

"No." Joseph Lancaster’s voice was cold, matching his expression at the time.

"Then who is it?"

Emily Zimmerman was still unwilling to give up. Perhaps in Joseph Lancaster’s eyes, she wasn’t outstanding, but she felt that both her family background and looks matched him.

At first, she admired Joseph Lancaster, who was gentle and refined. Gradually, she developed feelings for him. They had been in the same class for three and a half years, with only half a year left before graduation and assignments. She didn’t want to leave with regret, so she mustered the courage to invite him to a movie.

"I have no obligation to tell you."

Joseph Lancaster coldly refused. As he said this, the face of Violet Zimmerman appeared in his mind—her permed hair and the dimples that appeared at the corners of her mouth when she smiled...

Joseph Lancaster felt he must be bewitched. Otherwise, why would his sister-in-law’s face keep popping into his mind? She had been part of the Lancaster Family for half a year now, and he still clearly remembered the scene from the wedding day when he escorted his sister-in-law home.

Emily Zimmerman left disheartened, while Joseph Lancaster continued to lean against the bed, flipping through a pregnancy manual.

The boy lay on his bed, rubbing his lips, visibly simmering with anger.

Normally, Joseph Lancaster was kind to others. His family’s good condition made him generous. He shared any delicacies with his dorm mates, even taking them to the movies. Although he had received a punch for seemingly no reason, he couldn’t lash out.

After watching for a while longer, Joseph Lancaster got down from the upper bunk. The boy turned his face inward in defiance, slipped on his shoes. Watching his roommate’s angry look, Joseph hesitated for a moment, "I’m sorry, I was reckless just now."

Having said that, he didn’t give the boy a chance to respond. He took down the wool coat and canvas bag hanging on the wall, putting it on as he walked out.

For some reason, since last night, his chest had been feeling heavily congested. He thought returning to the dormitory would make it better, but it was still the same, if not worse.

Joseph Lancaster rode his bicycle to the market, bought a fresh grass carp, and also picked up some tofu. Not having a container, he paid to take away an iron basin used by the man selling meat nearby.

As he passed the cinema on his bicycle, he saw people queuing at the ticket window. Though he had already ridden past, he turned back.

The line for buying tickets wasn’t long, no more than ten people. Still, Joseph Lancaster cut in line, squeezing to the front with the grass carp and tofu-filled iron basin.

"Sorry, I need to squeeze in, I’m in a hurry to get back,"

"You’re in a hurry? Who isn’t? Go to the back of the line!" A woman reproached him indignantly.

Joseph Lancaster had already reached the window, raising his hand to apologize to the few lined up, "Sorry, my wife is about to give birth, and wants to watch a movie. Please do me a favor."

As Joseph Lancaster said this, there wasn’t a hint of embarrassment on his face.

"Is that so? Then buy your tickets quickly, don’t delay any longer,"

"Yes, hurry and buy the tickets, you could’ve been done by now,"

The crowd chimed in. After giving thanks, Joseph Lancaster bought two movie tickets and then rode off cheerfully on his bicycle towards home.

Because of the commotion with Eva Hayes in the morning, Joseph Lancaster directly took the tofu and grass carp to Violet Zimmerman’s place, instructing the servants to cook millet rice. At noon, they would have the grass carp stewed with tofu.

Even though the Lancaster Family was strict with their rules, only breakfast and dinner were eaten at the family head’s place. Lunch was generally eaten in one’s own room. However, someone like Eva Hayes, who liked to take advantage, would still go to the family head’s place for a free meal.
