Mr. CEO's Substitute Bride
Chapter 1566 - 1557: As Far as the Eye Can See, Everlasting: Is It Happening
When it came to children, Violet Zimmerman felt a bit guilty. It had been almost a month, and there was still no sign of any movement in her belly.
Her grip on the sweater tightened unconsciously, "Daxton, I..."
Daxton Lancaster continued taking out the stationery and said, "Don’t worry, you’ll definitely conceive."
Violet...
"What if I haven’t conceived yet?" Would they still pressure her to go see Joseph?
Daxton Lancaster had taken the last plastic ball out and paused slightly as he placed it on the bed. Bite marks appeared on both sides of his handsome face, disappearing in an instant.
"You’ll definitely conceive!"
...
Joseph Lancaster decided to live on campus, a sudden decision. Lorelei Howard tried to persuade him for quite a while. The dormitory environment was limited compared to the comfort of home, but Joseph insisted on going, saying he had a year left until graduation and hadn’t properly experienced campus life.
Lorelei Howard had no choice but to agree.
Every day going to the grandfather’s place to eat, she wouldn’t bump into Joseph, which made Violet suddenly breathe a sigh of relief.
But at the same time, she surprisingly felt a little sense of loss.
This feeling didn’t last long, as good news soon arrived.
On New Year’s Day, all of the Lancaster Family gathered together, except for Joseph—he said he had plans to see a movie with classmates.
The table was full of chicken, duck, and fish dishes. As the last dish, braised lamb, was brought out, the smell of mutton made Violet cover her mouth and rush out, vomiting by the willow tree at the courtyard gate.
"So pretentious!" Eva Hayes snorted with dissatisfaction, and Lorelei Howard gave her an unhappy glance before turning to her son.
"Daxton, what’s wrong with Violet?" She never reacted like this to lamb before.
Daxton Lancaster moved his chair aside and stood up, "Let me check."
Outside in the courtyard, Violet leaned against the willow tree, feeling like she was going to vomit her gallbladder out.
As the weather turned colder, her appetite improved. She had eaten two bowls of rice at noon and then took a nap, only to be awakened by Daxton Lancaster for dinner.
"Maybe eating and then sleeping caused indigestion. I’ll ask the servant to buy some medicine."
Daxton Lancaster gently patted her back as he approached, Violet retched a few more times, weakly shaking her head while she leaned against the tree trunk, "No need, I feel much better now."
"Oh," Daxton Lancaster supported her as they turned to go inside. After walking a couple of steps, he suddenly stopped, joy spreading across his face and eyes.
With Daxton Lancaster staring at her like that, Violet seemed confused and dazedly asked him, "Daxton, why are you looking at me like that?"
"Violet! Could it be!?"
Daxton Lancaster tightly grasped Violet’s wrist, his face and words unable to conceal his excitement.
Violet...
Licked her lips, unsure, and said, "Maybe not?"
Eva Hayes had always called her a hen that couldn’t lay eggs, and even she had lost confidence.
"Why not? You do the math, hasn’t it already been more than a month?"
Daxton was referring to the time spent with Joseph Lancaster.
Violet licked her lips, hesitated, "Maybe,"
"What do you mean maybe? It must be!"
Daxton Lancaster spoke with determination, joy even more apparent in his eyes, as he pulled Violet into the house with big strides and asked aloud as soon as they opened the door.
"Mom, Violet was vomiting strongly just now, do you think she’s pregnant?"
This sudden good news left not just the grandfather, who had been eagerly awaiting a great-grandchild, but even Bodhi Lancaster and his wife stunned, forgetting to react. After a while, Lorelei Howard finally spoke tremblingly, struggling to form words, "Daxton... you, you mean... Violet, just now you..."
"Mom, Violet was vomiting really badly just now!"
As Daxton finished his sentence, Violet covered her mouth again and rushed out.
