Mr. CEO's Substitute Bride
Chapter 1555 - 1547: Where My Eyes Reach, There Is Eternity: Don’t Go There Anymore
Joseph Lancaster came home early today, thinking that his older brother Daxton Lancaster hadn’t returned yet. But as the young man hurriedly ran up the stairs, he bumped into his brother Daxton, who had just come out of his room.
"What’s the rush, looking flustered!" Daxton frowned unhappily.
Having done that thing with his sister-in-law, Joseph was inexplicably uneasy. These days, whenever he went to the old man’s place for meals, he didn’t dare look at his brother Daxton.
His sister-in-law would always instruct him not to let Daxton find out that he already knew about his secret ailment. If Daxton knew she had divulged everything, he wouldn’t let her off!
Daxton only wanted her to seduce his younger brother without him being "aware". So, Joseph naturally dared not mention the servants’ suspicions to Daxton.
"Ha, it’s nothing, brother." Joseph stopped, scratched his head while standing opposite Daxton.
Seeing Joseph’s nervous reaction clearly, Daxton asked nonchalantly, "What do you mean ’nothing’?"
Joseph scratched his head while his brain quickly turned, "Oh, it’s like this. Today I heard classmates discussing how the movie ’Shaolin Temple’ being shown in theaters these days is really good. So I thought I’d come over and ask if you and sister-in-law wanted me to get two tickets."
"I don’t like watching movies." Daxton coldly rejected, his facial expression visibly darkened, "Go ask your sister-in-law. If she wants to go, get her a ticket."
After speaking, he went down the stairs with a cold face.
Looking back at Daxton’s somewhat off reaction, the young man didn’t think much, and he quickly ran into Violet Zimmerman’s room.
Violet Zimmerman was sitting in front of the dressing table, brushing her hair with a wooden comb, looking surprised to see Joseph come in.
"Joseph? You... got something?"
Since that incident, Joseph hadn’t come to her residence.
"Sister-in-law, there’s something very important!"
Joseph ran to Violet’s side.
"What’s the matter?" Violet instinctively asked. In this situation, nothing seemed more important than her being pregnant.
"Here’s the situation!" Joseph swallowed his saliva, "Just now when I was coming back from school..."
Joseph roughly recounted the conversation between the two servants to Violet, then said, "Sister-in-law, don’t go over there anymore. If this news gets out, neither of us will be able to face anyone!"
"Oh, I know." Violet replied indifferently and turned back. Just earlier, her husband Daxton had instructed her to spend more nights with her younger brother to increase the chances of getting pregnant.
But now the younger brother was telling her, "Don’t go over there anymore." She didn’t want to, but she was not in control.
After talking with Violet, Joseph left, and after stepping out of the bedroom, his mood lightened considerably, feeling a sense of relief, finally no longer needing to sneak around.
Joseph held onto the railing and hummed a tune as he quickly jumped down the stairs, only to look up and see the man sitting on the sofa.
The smile at the corner of his lips froze, "Brother?"
"Hmm, asked your sister-in-law?" Daxton lounged in the single sofa, his hands resting on both sides. Although he didn’t say much, Joseph felt a guilty conscience.
Having stepped down the last stair, still holding the railing with one hand, he looked at the serious-faced brother on the sofa and instinctively nodded.
"Oh, I asked."
Feeling even more guilty after those few words left his lips.
"What did your sister-in-law say? Does she want to go watch?"
Daxton asked nonchalantly, forcing a smile, Joseph said, "Sister-in-law said she doesn’t like kung fu movies."
