Mr. CEO's Substitute Bride

Chapter 1543 - 1535: Wherever the Gaze Falls, There Lies Eternity: What Was the Reaction

  • Next Chapter

The Lancaster family hired medical care, and Violet Zimmerman was given a large IV; her arm with the plaster cast was fine, but the needle in the back of her hand was misplaced.

After the medical care was finished, they gave a few brief instructions before returning to the accommodations arranged by the Lancaster family.

While the nurse was checking Violet Zimmerman, Joseph Lancaster stood by the bed the entire time, watching until the nurse left, then said dispiritedly, "Sister-in-law, you should rest now. I’ll head back and come see you later."

With that, the young man turned around; as he watched his uncle leave the room, Violet Zimmerman let out a deep sigh of relief.

She could sense that her uncle didn’t dislike her, at least not since their four lips met and he hadn’t immediately avoided her.

Retracting her gaze, Violet Zimmerman lowered her eyes, leaned back on the bed, and the blanket covering her legs was arranged by her uncle Joseph Lancaster.

Joseph Lancaster was absent-minded as he walked out of Violet Zimmerman’s residence, not hearing the servants greeting him.

Observing the young man’s absent-minded demeanor, a servant muttered in confusion, "What’s wrong with Second Young Master?"

As he exited Violet Zimmerman’s residence, the young man kept his head down, brow furrowed as if contemplating something deeply.

His mind kept replaying inappropriate scenes, as if Violet Zimmerman’s warmth still lingered on his lips.

Unconsciously, Joseph Lancaster raised his hand, his slender fingers lightly brushing his lips, until he reached his own residence before letting his hand fall.

Joseph Lancaster didn’t visit Violet Zimmerman at all throughout the day; when he had dinner at the elder’s place, he even subtly glanced at the seat where Violet Zimmerman usually sat.

Violet Zimmerman didn’t come to dinner, leaving Joseph Lancaster unsure if he felt disappointed or relieved—either way, his heart was never settled.

At night, Joseph Lancaster had a dream, and when he woke up in the morning he despised himself thousands of times.

In the dream, he had his sister-in-law pinned beneath him... the sensation was so real, and most frustratingly, his underwear was wet when he woke up.

Growing up, it was the first time Joseph Lancaster experienced an ejaculation.

And the person who induced his nocturnal emission was his most revered sister-in-law.

For several days in a row, Violet Zimmerman hadn’t seen Joseph Lancaster’s face since that "I’ll be back later"—he hadn’t come by.

On the weekend, Daxton Lancaster returned from a business trip, bringing gifts for his parents and siblings, including, of course, Violet Zimmerman.

Gold bracelets, new clothes—seeing these gifts didn’t make Violet Zimmerman happy at all. She buried her head, murmuring, "I scared Joseph away."

Daxton Lancaster paused while taking clothes out of his suitcase and turned his head to look at her.

"How did you scare him away?"

"That day... Joseph was blowing into my eye, and then I..." Violet Zimmerman stammered, finding it difficult to speak about deliberately kissing her uncle, even with her husband’s approval.

"What did you do?" Daxton Lancaster’s hand holding the clothes involuntarily tightened, and he rose to his feet.

"While Joseph was blowing, I turned my face... and then we ended up kissing each other."

Violet Zimmerman’s voice was as low as it could get as she lowered her gaze, clutching the blanket that was draped over her legs, biting her lip.

"How did Joseph react?" Daxton Lancaster asked calmly, his eyes fixed tightly on Violet Zimmerman, afraid of missing any slight reaction.

"Joseph pushed me away."

"Was he angry?" Daxton Lancaster asked, his eyes intently focused on Violet Zimmerman, anxious not to miss any response.
