Monsters Die When Killed
Chapter 669 20: He Is on the Moon
Rock Tower Aistena, worthy of his reputation as the American Federation's strongest Holy Light Cultivator, possessed a mental fortitude far beyond anyone's imagination. Even when facing Su Zhou's oppressive aura, he gritted his teeth and refused to yield—but Su Zhou was completely unconcerned. He simply closed his eyes and, while continuing to release his pressure, began to absorb the surrounding Heaven and Earth Primordial Qi to cultivate.
The moment Su Zhou began to cultivate, the entire United International Conference Hall was instantly transformed into a Spiritual Qi Vacuum Zone. A violent Spiritual Qi Flow, comparable to a typhoon, rushed into his body as if being sucked into a black hole...
In that instant, Su Zhou had reverted a large area around himself to the Spiritual Qi levels of the era before its revival. It wasn't just the representatives from the American Federation; the Extraordinary representatives from other nations all began to show expressions of discomfort.
Unlike the politics of mortals, in the world of the Extraordinary, Su Zhou possessed both the right and the power to be this brazen.
At this, even Aistena, whose will was as unshakeable as stone, couldn't help but open his eyes. He looked at Su Zhou, his gaze filled with resignation.
'Zhengguo actually sent *this* guy... It seems those old-timers from the Thirty-Six Saints have already figured out the truth behind this affair. Then again, they're the ones most interested in the Moon lately. No wonder they're taking this so seriously.'
'As for Su Zhou, I'm not an idiot. I know full well that while this young man seems impulsive and direct, his immense power is what enables that mindset... And who could possibly know the truth lurking beneath that boorish exterior?'
'At the very least, after seeing Su Zhou kill three defiant Divine Beasts with a pencil back in the Beast God Realm, I knew one thing for sure: his public image of being a specialist in "Thunder Techniques and Breath" is a complete fraud. He killed three Divine Beasts with a pencil—a *pencil*! Anyone who tries to fight a monster like that up close is a complete idiot!'
'But that doesn't really give me anything to work with. There are no flaws in the power Su Zhou displays. The only conclusion I can draw is the meaningless advice to "never fight him."'
Under Su Zhou's aura, which pressed down like the Rocky Mountains, Aistena gritted his teeth, his expression grim, and said nothing. The stalemate dragged on for several hours.
During these hours, the representatives from nearly every other country had left. Only those from the American Federation, the European Union, Ross Country, and Zhengguo remained.
In that time, Su Zhou had completed over three thousand Inner Celestial Cycles, sucking more than half of the United International Headquarters campus dry of Spiritual Qi. The representative from Ross Country had started secretly taking a potion to replenish his Spiritual Power, but there was no shame in that—Aistena was already injecting himself with a third military-grade Spiritual Power supplement.
But even so, faced with the Suppression that emanated from Su Zhou's mere 'presence'—which wasn't even being aimed at him intentionally—he was reaching his limit.
Fortunately, at 4:41 AM on January 20, 2017, Zhengguo Time, the American Federation Government must have reached a decision. Aistena, receiving his instructions through a chip in his brain, finally let out a breath, relented, and began to speak.
"While we can confirm that the perpetrator who destroyed the European Union's Antarctic Research Station and killed numerous researchers from various nations was John Harrison... the truth is, he evaded our pursuit long ago and vanished."
His weary voice was followed by heavy gasps for air. As soon as Aistena began to speak, Su Zhou opened his eyes and withdrew his Suppression.
On the holographic projection, Olson, who was evidently still handling the incident, frowned and spoke. "You can't track the Deep Space Caller? What a joke. You should have notified us immediately—never mind. When did this happen?"
"Four months ago." Aistena gave a stunning number, which made the representative from Ross Country sneer and mutter, "As expected," in Russian. Aistena pretended not to hear and continued, "Evidence suggests that when the Deep Space Caller arrived at the South Pole, he suddenly vanished. The satellite dedicated to tracking him detected an enormous release of Spiritual Power before being fried by a unique electromagnetic pulse. By the time we maneuvered a new satellite into position, he was gone without a trace."
"To be honest, we have no idea where he is. The only thing we can confirm is that the research station was destroyed by a peculiar creature he has summoned during several past Alien Monster incidents—a being we've named the 'Shapeless'."
At that moment, an orange-red electronic light flickered in Aistena's eyes, which had clearly been mechanically augmented. He then raised his hand, and his proxy terminal displayed a series of photos and projections.
Su Zhou leaned forward, quite curious, only to see a peculiar mass of silvery gel. It was a bizarre creature that constantly writhed and changed shape like liquid Mercury. Within its gelatinous body were numerous glowing, circular structures that resembled eyes.
Su Zhou could tell that the light emitted by those eye-like structures was a form of light radiation caused by activated Spiritual Power. Although this amorphous creature looked like a primitive amoeba, it was, in fact, an extremely powerful and highly evolved Strong Spiritual Power lifeform.
Gazing at these photos and classified video projections, Aistena sighed and said grimly, "In the past, the Deep Space Caller, John Harrison, summoned this very creature. He had it devour seventeen hundred people in Twilight Town, including his own parents and grandparents, allowing it to swell to the size of a small hill. Our military was forced to launch a three-megaton strategic hydrogen bomb, followed by a continuous three-day bombardment with thermite and white phosphorus shells, which utterly turned the Twilight Town region into a wasteland."
"But even that didn't kill the Deep Space Caller. Decades ago, he was already a monster capable of withstanding a three-megaton strategic thermonuclear weapon. Our policy toward him has been limited to tracking and evasion; we rarely engage him in a direct confrontation."
"This creature is obviously not from Earth, so the Caller's ability to summon Alien Monsters is real. But how does he do it? We haven't detected any life-bearing planets within a three-hundred-light-year radius, and no known teleportation or summoning technique could possibly span such a vast distance."
After studying the data—which should have been classified American Federation intelligence—for a long time, Su Zhou narrowed his eyes and looked up. The power of his Thoughtless Mind allowed him to hear the frantic rhythm of Aistena's inner thoughts, like a rapid violin march. "But at the same time, Mr. Aistena," he said, "you're still holding something back. The American Federation knows where the Deep Space Caller is, don't you? And you're also well aware of why he went to the Antarctic."
As he spoke, Su Zhou looked Aistena directly in the eye. In that instant, the tall man known as Rock Tower was gripped by a sudden fear—a feeling that all his defenses had been shattered, leaving him completely exposed, with no secret left to hide.
The feeling was fleeting, and he quickly regained his composure, but the sensation of being utterly dissected made Aistena subconsciously avert his gaze from Su Zhou. His brow furrowed, but he said nothing more.
"Fine. Believe it or not, we couldn't confirm it ourselves, which is why we were unwilling to present our speculation as fact."
But after a few seconds, apparently having received official clearance from the American Federation, the representative looked up. He glanced around at the representatives of the three great powers, took a deep breath, and revealed the truth.
"We suspect that a meteorite that struck the region of primitive Gondwana approximately 270 million years ago contained a certain 'Alien Super Life Factor.' We believe this is strongly related to the 'Shapeless,' and that it is the very reason the Deep Space Caller went to the Antarctic."
"And now... according to images from our Moon-orbiting satellites, while we can't rule out an error in judgment, there is a very high probability that the Deep Space Caller... is currently on the Moon."
