Monsters Die When Killed
Chapter 551 - 28: The Endless Green Grass and the Fusion Soul
The celebratory dinner for the mission’s successful conclusion was set for three days later, back on Earth. Su Zhou, meanwhile, went to the Zhengguo camp for a physical examination to ensure he hadn’t sustained any hidden injuries from the previous battle.
Even though everyone saw him emerge basically unscathed—obliterating all his enemies, one punch per Divine Beast—procedures were procedures, and Su Zhou didn’t mind following them.
The results, naturally, showed everything was normal. After Su Zhou said he wanted some quiet time alone, all the medical staff departed without a word.
As he lay alone on the bed in his quarters, Su Zhou couldn’t help but recall what he had done after killing Ghost Car and routing the allied Spirit Beast army.
Back then, the once-formidable alliance army had utterly collapsed. Even the most ferocious Dragon Beasts of the Scale Race became as meek as pet rabbits when they felt Su Zhou’s eyes on them, some even immediately pledging their allegiance.
Su Zhou, of course, had no interest in these Evil Beasts, which pulsed with a red light. After casually crushing a few that had clearly engaged in sadistic slaughter, he turned and left, returning to the vicinity of the Tree of Life.
Faced with the remains of a Planet-level, super-giant plant that stood a full two hundred thousand meters tall even in death, Su Zhou couldn’t help but marvel at the power of the Creator Celestial Venerable Level.
’Could a being with such power really have been killed?’
Reaching out to touch the petrified trunk of the Tree of Life, Su Zhou was filled with doubt. ’Even though I cut down those Divine Beasts as if they were nothing, the truth is, if they had reached the Commander Tier on their own and fully mastered the power of their Divine Techniques, it would have taken even me at least a few exchanges to find a weakness and claim victory.’
’And then there are Commander Tiers who’ve had a stroke of fortune like me, or those like the Water God, who fell from the Water Dominator realm. Defeating them would be incredibly difficult—it might even come down to luck...’
The higher one’s Extraordinary Cultivation, the harder they are to kill.
Su Zhou knew this from personal experience. He had been to the Divine Wood World and witnessed the astonishing Life Force of the Demon Dynasty’s Demon Soldiers. That encounter had left him with a profound impression of the vitality of plant-based life.
’Even cultivators at the Spirit Awakening and Awakening stages could claim to be undying after being implanted with a Divine Wood Root. The more powerful National Preceptor and Demon Emperor had a regeneration ability that rivaled my own Yara Undying Blood. So, could the Tree of Life itself—a Celestial Venerable Level Divine Wood—truly die so easily? Even if it was another Celestial Venerable who struck the blow, could they really be certain their opponent had no other tricks up their sleeve?’
Even though Lin Chengde had confirmed the Tree of Life had indeed withered away, and that it had only happened recently, this paradoxically proved that the West Mother Great Venerable had failed to completely kill it back then. If not for the depletion of Spiritual Qi, the Tree of Life would likely have fully revived during this fourth stage.
But even with the depletion of Spiritual Qi, Su Zhou felt that such a drastic environmental shift was still not enough to so easily kill a Celestial Venerable.
Therefore, Su Zhou performed another ritual and investigated for himself.
He didn’t use the Essence Soul of the World Tree, relying only on his Commander Tier strength and his body’s natural affinity for Wood Qi—a result of eating two Wisdom Fruits—for the probe.
The result, however, was identical to Lin Chengde’s.
’Weird...’
At the time, Su Zhou had been deeply unsettled. ’It might sound ridiculous, but based on the ’connection’ I share with the various Divine Woods, I just have a feeling this matter isn’t so simple...’
"Stop dwelling on it."
As Su Zhou continued to mutter, Yara shook its head. Perched atop Su Zhou’s hair, it sighed. "Your guess is correct. The Tree of Life isn’t truly, completely dead. However, in its current state, it poses no threat to you for at least a few hundred years."
"Of course, it’s not like you can threaten it, either."
"Yara, you could tell?"
Su Zhou had great faith in Yara’s insight, but unfortunately, the Snake Spirit was no encyclopedia; it wouldn’t answer every question. Thus, in response to Su Zhou’s query, it said nothing, merely continuing to lie quietly on the young man’s head and transforming into what looked like a black cap.
"Fine." Su Zhou frowned, knowing Yara wouldn’t explain further. He could only sigh. ’If you say it’s not a threat for the next few hundred years... well, in a few hundred years, I might just reach the Realm of the Creator myself.’
’When that time comes, I’ll check back on the Beast God Realm and find out just where this Tree of Life has hidden itself.’
Having made his Determination, Su Zhou glanced around and nodded. ’There are quite a few Spirit Plants in this area. Is the Wood Qi so dense because it was nourished by the Tree of Life? Not a bad environment at all.’
With that, he casually swiped his hand through the air, opening a Space Gate to his Personal Space. He grinned at the Wisdom Tree inside and said, "Ashu, I’m bringing you some company!"
As he spoke, Su Zhou used his Spiritual Power to control the surrounding earth. Like an unreasonable bandit, he ripped up huge chunks of the landscape and tossed all the soil and vegetation into his Personal Space, arranging them around the Wisdom Tree.
He hadn’t forgotten the Wisdom Tree’s request, after all.
The Wisdom Tree Essence Soul, known as Ashu, was overjoyed, repeatedly exclaiming, "Good!" "Best!"
"Zhou, the, best! Like!"
