Monsters Die When Killed
Chapter 550 - 28: Lush Green Grass and Fusion Soul
"That said," the young man shrugged. "what does it matter? At the end of the day, even if I am bloodthirsty, cruel, and enjoy torturing my enemies, I’m still a good person."
It sounded like complete nonsense, but he wasn’t exactly wrong—at least as far as humanity was concerned. Su Zhou had never once used his powers to interfere with or harm the rights of any ordinary person.
After all, in this era of the Spiritual Energy Revival, it was common for those with stronger Cultivation to use their power, whether openly or in secret, to oppress the weak. But Su Zhou had no such record. Unless someone made the first move to test him, he was always gentle, reasonable, and easygoing—except on the internet.
When a person with a mental abnormality clearly knows they are abnormal and seems to have no intention of changing... the problem becomes much more complex.
The Daoist Saint, at least, immediately felt that this was no longer a problem an ordinary psychologist could solve. Any therapist who tried would probably end up with a splitting headache from arguing with Su Zhou.
"Professor Su, setting other things aside, the footage of you eating that Ghost Car will definitely get out."
In response, the Life Saint, seated to one side, spoke slowly. The silver-haired, middle-aged man glanced around at the Cultivators from America, the European Union, and Ross Country. "Of course, it might be an ’accidental’ leak—who knows how it will happen?" he said calmly. "In any case, eating a Wisdom Spirit Beast alive, especially in the current climate where we are promoting both Mimic Dao practitioners and Spirit Beasts as part of Earth Civilization, will inevitably lead to a great deal of negative commentary and condemnation. I hope you’re prepared to accept that."
"Let them. I don’t care."
Su Zhou just waved his hand dismissively. "They can eat other Spirit Beasts, so why can’t I eat them?" he said, his tone rather cold. "Besides, I had transformed into my True Body, which took a huge toll. If I hadn’t eaten it, I would’ve had to eat other Spirit Beasts anyway."
"So why wouldn’t I eat my strongest enemies instead of some weaker, non-threatening Spirit Beasts?"
This was clearly sophistry, a blatant twisting of concepts.
But not even the Cultivators from the European Union, who were most sensitive to the issue, dared to voice any objections in Su Zhou’s presence.
Of course not. Who would dare bad-mouth a powerhouse who could kill a temporary Commander as easily as a chicken?
Who had the guts!
Speaking of the True Body, the Daoist Saint remembered it was time to ask exactly what kind of Dragon Su Zhou’s True Body was. However, for a Dao Mimic Cultivator of Su Zhou’s level, the abilities and nature of one’s True Body were considered a state secret. It was impossible to discuss it in a multinational fortress like this, so the question would unfortunately have to wait.
Just then, Su Zhou began to make arrangements for the Spirit Beasts outside the fortress who had chosen to follow him.
"Those seven hundred or so Spirit Beasts are all willing to follow me. I promised them a new life, one different from what they had before."
As he said this, Su Zhou was clearly invested in the matter. His expression was completely serious, a stark contrast to the cold look he’d had when speaking of Divine Beasts like the Ghost Car. "Most of these Spirit Beasts have skills. I think we should let them set up a temporary settlement not far from the fortress. After all, as our influence in the Beast God Realm expands, more Spirit Beasts will surely come to our side."
"Rather than hastily building something then, it would be better to let these natives of the Beast God Realm start building their own new home now."
The suggestion was very reasonable. Since the high-level officials from every nation were present, the decision was quickly passed by joint approval under Su Zhou’s initiative.
"But, Professor Su, how can you be sure there aren’t spies from the other Divine Beasts hidden among them?"
The question came from Rafael, a high-ranking official from the European Union who had recently returned. Frowning, he continued, "While we can ensure that these primitive Spirit Beasts don’t steal any of Earth’s information, it would be quite a nuisance if some of them were to sabotage the camp’s construction or incite our own Spirit Beasts to rebel."
The Spirit Beasts of the Beast God Realm had defected to Earth’s high-level Mimic Dao Cultivators so quickly that the humans didn’t believe for a second that they would remain loyal if confronted by other Divine Beasts.
"Don’t worry."
Su Zhou answered confidently, "One of my Divine Techniques allows me to perceive evil thoughts. From the very beginning, when I was selecting which Spirit Beasts could follow me, I already screened out any who might be disloyal or turn against us."
"Most of the Spirit Beasts I allowed to follow me were genuinely dissatisfied with the previous ruling model of the Divine Beasts. Some were even demoted by the Divine Beasts and were about to become slaves or food. They want to change their fate through their own choices, and I believe in them."
"Besides."
With that, Su Zhou gave a confident laugh. "Is there even a ’Divine Beast’ in this Beast God Realm stronger than me?"
"They might betray anyone, but they’d never betray me."
He had a point.
Everyone was curious about Su Zhou’s Divine Technique and wondered what kind of bloodline could grant the Awakening of an ability to see evil thoughts. But since Su Zhou himself had given his guarantee, there was no need to argue. After all, if something did go wrong, it would be the Spirit Beasts who suffered, not the human fortress.
