Chapter 658 Four Pillars: Returning to the Surface
Chapter 658 Four Pillars: Returning to the Surface
“Vaughn Darkstar…” muttered Valyr in response, repeating the name in his mind multiple times.
Eventually, after feeling like he had committed the name to memory, only did the young man proceed to head out of the space once more.
Though, just like earlier, another question popped up in the young man’s mind, prompting the man sitting on the chair made out of scrap parts to wonder whether Valyr truly had intentions to leave or not.
“While talking to Vrlvadh along the way, I was told that the space where you and the people that make up the Forsaken race live in is called the Land of Origin,” said the young man.
“In our language, we call it Dnal fo Nigiro, but the meaning is more or less the same.” Ryvrthe nodded. “What about it?”
“I was just wondering if you had a name for the other areas that hasn’t been occupied by you and your people,” replied Valyr with a shrug of his shoulders. “It’s fine if you don’t have an answer, the question just came to mind.”
Scratching the back of his head for a bit, Ryvrthe eventually opened his mouth. “Well, we do have a name for it, considering the importance it has towards the survival of the Forsaken race.”
“What do you call it, then?”
“Ecalos,” said Ryvrthe with a solemn expression.
“If I were to find a word that has a similar meaning in your language, then that would be Solace… I think,” he soon added.
“Solace…” muttered the young man, eventually nodding in agreement.
“Solace is a good name.”
After briefly mentioning how he called the entire underground area the Dimlight District to Ryvrthe, it was only then did the young man finally take his leave, heading his way out through the corridor he took to get in.
Deciding to make use of [Traceless Slither] to reduce travel time, it only took a couple of minutes for him to appear outside the entrance to Ryvrthe’s place, being greeted by the being that had taken him here in the first place.
“You’re finally out.” Bringing up a screen in front of its vision, Vrlvadh swiftly inputted a series of characters that Valyr received.
Reading through the message, the young man flashed an apologetic smile at Vrlvadh as he sent a message back. “Did I take too long?”
“It wasn’t all that bad,” replied Vrlvadh through its message, slowly shaking its head back and forth. “The passersby that saw our arrival were curious as to what you were, so I passed the time by answering their questions.”
“Many of them had decided to stay after seeing us enter to meet with the Sapient One.” It continued with its next message. “However, with how long you had been in there conversing with the Sapient One, all of them lost their interest, leaving me here alone.”
After sending a few more back-and-forth messages between one another, the two of them began to make their way back to where the two of them had met, catching the attention of many among the Forsaken race once more.
However, unlike before, whether it was due to the fact that Vrlvadh had enlightened them on who he was, or the fact that he had talked with their race’s Sapient One, most of the people looked at him with expressions of slight sadness.
After all, with the language barrier existing between their races, none of them had any clue as to when he would be back.
Unsurprisingly, Valyr was oblivious to all of this, his current thoughts instead revolving around the amount of time he had been stuck underground.
Though he had already given the other four a heads-up on his current situation, the young man still sped up his pace, feeling like he had stayed underground for a far longer time than he planned on.
Seeing that, Vrlvadh decided to match the young man’s speed as they passed through the corridors. With it being at the middle levels of Rank 5, it was able to keep up with Valyr, albeit barely.
Nevertheless, with this increase in speed, it took almost half of the original time they took to get to the Land of Origin to arrive at where the two of met encountered one another.
Realizing that they had arrived at this point, a slightly glum expression appeared on Vrlvadh’s face as it sent a question to Valyr. “Do we really have to part ways here? Will you ever meet with us again?”
Faintly smiling at the being’s reaction towards their separation, Valyr let out a sigh as he sent a response back through the chat function. “Unfortunately, we’ll have to separate ways here since the Sapient One has given me a task that I have to complete.”
Seeing the despondent expression on the young man’s face made Vrlvadh think that it would receive a response it did not want to read.
Then again, once it was finished reading through the message Valyr had given it, the expression on its face was nowhere near despondence, looking at the young man with slightly widened eyes.
“That means you’re coming back, right?” asked Vrlvadh through a message.
“Of course,” replied Valyr back, letting out a chuckle in the process.
With that, even though it was somewhat difficult for the being to do, Vrlvadh and Valyr finally went on their separate ways, with the former returning to the Land of Origin.
‘I guess he’ll update Ryvrthe about this.’ On the other hand, after staring at Vrlvadh’s fleeting silhouette for a bit, Valyr activated a couple of skills that boosted his movement speed before proceeding to head out of the small corridor he entered.
Then, after arriving at the large corridor, he pushed his agility to its very limits, swiftly making his way back to the large hole that he used as an entrance to the underground.
“Finally, some light.” Staring at the large hole he had jumped into that led to him meeting Ryvrthe and the Forsaken race, a faint smile appeared on Valyr’s face as he took one last glance towards the path he had taken.
After that, he circulated Shadow Energy and mana throughout his body, causing a pair of dark yet translucent wings to appear on his back within seconds.
“[Shadow Serpent Movement Style]…”
“[False Wings of the Shadow Wyvern].”
Whoosh!
With just a single flap, the young man quickly left the underground, appearing on the surface once more as he swiftly flew his way back to where Hal and the others were resting for the night.
“Next stop…”
“The south quadrant.”
