Chapter 1736 1736: Becoming a Part
"Good answer."
Letting out a peal of laughter in response to Ataraxia's words, Marcus went ahead and extended his hand out for a handshake. "Since we're going to be working together from now on, the name's Marcus."
"Ataraxia," replied the young man, reciprocating the action with a smile. "Glad to be a part of the Mystic Plane."
"Congrats," said Valyr as he watched the two cozy up to one another. "You've just gotten a position that has far less responsibilities than the position I have."
"You could say that again," replied Mystia, clearing her throat in order to attract everyone else's attention. "Excluding Marcus, I have the most tasks that have something to do with this plane."
"You could say that again." Valyr nodded, not surprised that it was the case since she was the Saintess.
As for Ataraxia and Marcus, the two of them also nodded in agreement, their expressions silently thanking her for the sacrifices she had made for the Mystic Plane thus far.
"Anyways…" Feeling slightly annoyed at not having anyone refute her claims for some reason, Mystia decided to shift the topic of their conversation back to the matter at hand. "Are you gonna give him the position or not?"
"Right." With her words acting as a timely reminder, Marcus gave Ataraxia a knowing look, to which the latter nodded as he remained where he stood.
Whoosh!
Summoning a great amount of Mystic Energy from the entire plane, the man went ahead and used it to form a cocoon around the young man as he began to make use of his abilities as the plane's Overseer.
"With the power vested in me, I, Marcus, the Overseer of the Mystic Plane, now bestow upon you the position of Archivist of the Mystic Plane."
Swoosh!
At the very moment the man finished his decree, Ataraxia immediately received a number of notifications from the system, causing his aura to undergo an abrupt change.
Within seconds, the aura he gave off greatly intensified, only to then mellow out soon after as it began to give off the feeling that it was melding with the Mystic Plane's atmosphere.
At the same time, the plane itself was also undergoing a number of great changes, entirely thanks to Ataraxia occupying one of the highest positions a small plane could have.
Having been the cause of the plane's transformation back when he had become its Guardian, Valyr looked around with curiosity as he asked, "How close is the Mystic Plane from becoming a middle plane?"
"A bit closer after your ascension," replied Mystia, looking at their current surroundings with interest.
"With your student now becoming a part of the plane, I'm certain we would only need one more person in order for the Mystic Plane to truly reach the middle tier."
"I see." Nodding at her words in response, the young man continued to look at the changes happening throughout the Mystic Plane.
Though, after some time, he noticed that the plane was still going through a lot of changes.
Finding the duration of the transformation somewhat odd, Valyr asked Marcus, "Is this normal?"
"Transformations happening for every position filled? Yes," replied the latter with a slight nod.
"But for it to take this long…" As these words left his mouth, the man took in a deep breath before looking back at him.
"The only other time this happened is when you became the plane's Guardian."
Rumble…
Feeling the entire plane start to quake as its area began to undergo rapid expansion, a thought soon popped up into Marcus' head. "Say, Valyr. Does your student control any unique energies or anything of the sort?"
"Aside from Mystic Energy? No." The young man shook his head after hearing the question, which caused the man to feel even more confusion towards the current situation.
Though, once he heard the next words that came out of Valyr's mouth, everything finally began to click.
"…Does True Arcana count?"
Swoosh!
As if that question was the only thing holding the Mystic Plane back, the plane immediately began to ramp the speed of its expansion up, doubling the size of its landmass in a matter of minutes.
While that was happening, Marcus also began to undergo a number of changes, the most obvious of which was that the aura he now gave off was a tad more oppressive than before.
Aside from that, the strength emanating from his body had reached a higher level, giving one the feeling that he had finally broken through the bottleneck that had been plaguing him for years.
However, out of all the changes that were happening to Marcus, the most prominent one was the connection he had with the Mystic Plane.
If his connection before could be to likened to someone having basic control over a certain object, then his connection after the transformation had improved to where every thought or order he had would be executed the moment he had it.
Sensing the great changes that were happening to both Marcus and the Mystic Plane, Valyr took in a deep breath as he glanced the cocoon before them.
After that, he looked at Mystia, who looked back at him and gave him a knowing expression.
"You've seriously snagged a gem for the Mystic Plane, Valyr," she said, a number of emotions evident in her tone.
"Not any person would be able to push the Mystic Plane to the middle tier that easily."
"That's all Ataraxia," replied Valyr with a faint smile. "All I did was just introduce him to you."
After those words left his mouth, the two continued to watch the various changes happening throughout the plane while keeping an eye on Marcus from time to time.
By the time the total landmass of the Mystic Plane almost increased by three times its original size, the changes finally began to slow down, which gradually crawled to a grinding halt after a few minutes.
At the moment those changes were over, the two other beings in the Mystic Plane finally returned to the waking world, with both of them giving off auras that were far stronger than their previous selves.
"Congratulations on becoming the Mystic Plane's Archivist," said Valyr to his other self the moment the cocoon broke apart.
"As for you…" After that, he turned to look at Marcus, giving the man a wide grin.
"Congratulations on finally stepping onto the ranks of middle concept planes."
