Chapter 1693 1693: Gains from the Treasury
“…So, what made you decide to go with the four-star treasures?”
Taking out the items he grabbed from the treasury as the two of them sat on the edge of slightly raised ground, Ataraxia looked at his other self with curiosity, their connection allowing him to understand what was currently going in within Valyr’s mind.
“Is it because there’s more of them?” he asked. “I wouldn’t be surprised if that were the case.”
Just like how two-star treasures held great allure to those at the peak of Rank 2, four-star treasures held immense allure to those at the peak of Rank 4.
If one were to consider their current class rank, then choosing to go home with three four-star treasures instead of a single Royal-grade treasure made a lot of sense.
However, it’s precisely because the two of them were about to ascend to Rank 5 soon that prompted him to find Valyr’s decision slightly confusing.
After all, Royal-grade treasures were the best treasures the Algerie Imperial Treasury had to offer, with each one holding immense allure not only to those that have reached the peak of Rank 5, but to Legends as well.
“That’s part of the reason, yeah.” Giving Ataraxia’s question a bit of thought, the latter eventually gave him a slight nod. “Though the difference in quality between both treasures is definitely something to take into consideration, three is still more than one.”
Whoosh!
At those words, the young man went ahead and took out the items he grabbed from the treasury out of his spatial bracelet, revealing three round flasks that each contained a viscous fluid of sorts.
Placing the flasks to his side, he then continued, “However, the main reason why I decided to go for the four-star treasures instead is because of the feeling I got the moment I entered the room that held the Royal-grade treasures.”
“Feeling?” Not expecting such an answer to come out of his other self, Ataraxia could not help but look at Valyr with a hint of doubt, recalling that he felt nothing out of the sort while the two of them were traversing the Algerie Imperial Treasury.
Though, once he went through the memory his other self had shared with him through [Soul Entanglement], the young man quickly understood why, slightly shuddering by the time he was done.
“…Why didn’t you tell me someone was spying on you while you were in that room?” asked Ataraxia, a slight frown appearing on his face. “You could’ve given me a heads-up through our connection, no?”
“I didn’t dare to.” Valyr shook his head, sharing a bit more of his memory from that time with his other self.
“Though what I’ve shared with you might seem like what I’ve experienced was just someone spying on me, back then, it felt like every secret I had on me was laid bare in front of that being.”
“…I don’t know if it came from one of the items in that room, or if there really was a being in that room, but I’d rather be safe than sorry,” said the young man as he ended his explanation, prompting the two to fall into silence after that.
“…You think they’re onto you?” Letting the gears in his mind turn for a bit, Ataraxia eventually broke the silence surrounding them with a question, his thoughts still fixated on what Valyr felt back at the treasury.
“I… don’t think so,” replied the latter after giving it a bit of thought, giving his other self a slight shrug of the shoulders. “By the time I got out of the room, that feeling of having all of my secrets exposed disappeared without a trace.”
“Perhaps I’m overthinking all of it and that’s just the safety protocol they have in that room,” he continued, letting out a faint sigh. “After all, a treasure that would make even Legends envious is undoubtedly precious to an entire kingdom.”
“Much less an entire room filled to the brim with that stuff.”
“…So, what items did you grab from the treasury exactly?” Seeing as Valyr did not want to entertain the topic any further, Ataraxia deftly shifted the topic of their conversation to their haul from the treasury. “Also, what effects do they have?”
“Condensed Attribute Potions, according to the system.” Inwardly letting out a sigh of relief at the question, the former faintly smiled as he lifted up one of the vials for his other self to see. “Each one boosts a certain stat by a hundred points.”
Watching Ataraxia suck in a breath of cold air in response to his words, the young man continued his explanation with a slight grin. “To be more specific, I chose the Condensed Vitality, Strength, and Agility Potion.”
“Wanting to boost your physical capabilities even further, I see.” By the time he got over the slight shock he felt from Valyr’s choice, Ataraxia swiftly understood the former’s thought process, eliciting a faint smile to appear on his face as he proceeded to introduce his own items.
“Unlike you, I went for a more all-around improvement in stats,” said the latter, holding up the two round fruits he grabbed from the treasury.
Seeing that one fruit was red while the other was blue, Valyr could not help but think that the fruits were condensed health and mana recovery potions in some way.
Though, with Ataraxia having already given him a brief introduction on his items back at the treasury, the young man kept those thoughts to himself as the former continued to speak.
“This one is the Minor Might Longan,” said Ataraxia, holding up the red fruit in front of Valyr, only to then do the same for the blue fruit soon after. “And this one is the Minor Magic Longan.”
“Both fruits give me 5 points each to certain stats, with the former focusing on physical stats, while the latter focuses on magical stats.”
“In a way, they’re kind of similar to the Basic Reinforcement Elixirs, but not at the same time.”
Nodding in understanding, Valyr then asked Ataraxia, “You think there’s a limit to how many of them you could take?”
“No clue.” The latter shrugged his shoulders. “After all, even with the memories I have from our past life, this is the first time I’ve come across the stuff.”
“…I suppose it wouldn’t hurt asking Mystia about it,” said Valyr after a bit of silence, removing the stopper on one of the vials. “Also wouldn’t hurt asking her of more fruits and potions that could be taken multiple times like the Reinforcement Elixir.”
“In any case, we’re better off saving that thought for when we eventually attempt our ascension to Rank 6.” He chuckled, only to then down the contents of the opened vial in a few gulps.
“Let’s start our final push.”
