[Saga of Marathons] (Lv. MAX)
Rarity: Legendary
With his goal being to see everything that the world he was born in had to offer, the Fleet-footed Monarch had sacrificed a lot of time and effort towards pursuing the pinnacle of movement, eventually becoming well-known as a figure in that regard.
Amidst the myriad number of feats he had achieved in the field of movement skills, there exists a skill that the Fleet-footed Monarch had created early on as a commemoration of sorts, yet grew to take on a life of its own.
Wanting to record everything he came across at the very moment he had the means to achieve his goal, the man decided to create a skill that recorded the distance he traveled out of impulse.
In his mind, it served as an accompaniment to the memories he committed whenever he came across a wonderful view, giving him an opportunity to recall the distance he trekked and the time it took him to get there.
Though, as he continued to traverse the world in order to see the wondrous sights it offered, the skill’s nature took on a subtle shift, especially after it had given him a figure that he did not initially believe he had covered in response to his goal.
Curious as to whether it was possible to transform this skill he made haphazardly into something greater, the Fleet-footed Monarch decided to make use of the distance it recorded and transformed it into an energy of sorts that further propelled him in his journey towards his goal.
And thus, his saga continues.
This skill converts part of the distance traveled by the user into an imperceptible energy, giving the user greater proficiency and compatibility with their movement skill.
For every set distance reached by the user, this proficiency manifests into a tangible form known as a Marathon, subtly boosting the speed at which the user moves while making use of their movement skills.
This skill stacks additively with skills of a similar category.
Current distance traveled: 0 meters (0 Marathons)
Current speed boost: 0%
Maximum speed boost: 50%

’[Saga of Marathons]…’
Reading through the description of his newly obtained skill a couple more times, the young man eventually thought back to the title of the skill, finding it somewhat odd that a concept he knew only existed on Earth would also exist in Greater Beyond.
Then again, with how electricity and various other concepts he took for granted back on Earth also existed in this place, the young man decided not to dwell over the thought much longer.
Though, the name of the skill did cause him to ask Aeramis a couple of questions.
“Does the skill only convert the distance I travel into a boost to my movement speed after reaching a certain distance? Or does it constantly convert the distance I’ve traveled into that boost?”
“A mix of the two, to be honest,” responded Aeramis after giving it a bit of thought. “Though the skill does convert the distance you’ve traveled into a slight movement speed boost, it is only after reaching a certain distance does the boost become more prominent.”
“And that would be…?” asked Ataraxia in return, his ears perked up to listen.
“I’m certain the description already mentions that distance,” answered the man, his expression calm. “It is a Marathon.”
“How far would I have to move to constitute one Marathon?”
As those words left his mouth, the young man thought that the distance he had to trek was similar to the distance covered by an actual marathon back on Earth.
However, just as he felt confident at the notion, Aeramis’ response quashed that confidence in an instant.
“About 10,000 kilometers,” said the man, faintly nodding after making sure that he didn’t recall wrongly. “Yeah. 10,000 kilometers equates to one Marathon.”
“…And how many Marathons would I need to complete in order to reach the maximum boost of the skill?” asked the young man in response, inwardly dreading the answer the man would give him.
After all, with how much distance the man’s interpretation of the Marathon covered, it wouldn’t be surprising if he would also need to trek an insane number of it just to reach the skill’s full potential.
“A myriad.” Unfortunately for him, his hunch turned out to be correct, causing the young man to give Aeramis a blank look as he tried to calculate how much distance he would have to cover.
’Considering that a myriad is equivalent to 10,000, and each Marathon equates to 10,000 kilometers…’
’That means I would have to traverse a hundred million kilometers just to reach the skill’s full potential,’ thought the young man to himself, only to let out a slightly defeated chuckle as the large number continued to linger in his mind.
Though, after thinking about it for a bit more, the overwhelming feeling he got from the figure gradually disappeared, especially after being reminded that his current capabilities gave him the ability to easily reach the skill’s full potential if need be.
’Then again, with how much effort it would take to have the skill give me its maximum boost, I guess that’s why the skill is only rated at Legendary,’ inwardly muttered the young man, eventually coming to terms with the odd usage of the skill.
Whoosh!
Closing the screen containing the descriptions of both [Supreme Codex of Skybound Perpetuity] and [Saga of Marathons] in front of him, Ataraxia went ahead and took the time to register the skills he had learned during the fifth trial with the system, mostly thanks to Aeramis reminding him about it once more.
Ding!
Looking through their respective descriptions to see if anything about them changed once they were registered with the system, the young man eventually nodded in satisfaction, immediately feeling his capabilities in terms of movement significantly improve with their inclusion.
Getting the feeling that he had now probably exceeded his other self in that area by an absurd amount, it was only then did Ataraxia bring up the description of the first skill he had obtained from Aeramis, finding it fitting to save it for last.
’…With a skill name like that, surely it would be absurdly powerful, right?’
