Chapter 1611: Breaking Barriers: The Third Trial (6)
Whoosh!
Seeing the energy and the concepts he infused into the construct grow stronger as they neared the final node, Ataraxia could not help but clench his fists in anticipation, already sensing the immense power being carried by both elements.
’Surely this would result in a False Intent-tier skill, right?’ thought the young man to himself, clenching his fists even tighter after noticing that only a couple nodes separated him from obtaining a far more powerful energy circuit.
However, just as he sensed the overwhelming power carried by both the energy and concept he infused, at the very moment the two elements made contact with the final node…
Swoosh!
As if there was a large chasm separating the two elements from the final node, both the energy and the concept Ataraxia infused into the construct disappeared without a trace, unsurprisingly leaving the latter at a loss for words.
’It… disappeared?’
Staring at the spot where both elements disappeared on the construct for a while, the young man closed for a brief moment, the gears in his mind turning as he pondered over what caused both the energy and the concept he put in to disappear.
Yet, even after thinking about it for a bit, the young man did not find any leads that would lead him any closer to the answer.
With that, Ataraxia decided to attempt having both energy and concept course through the construct again, hoping to catch the exact moment and reason why the two elements disappeared just as they hit the final node.
Whoosh!
Spending a bit of time to further refine the path both elements would take, the young man infused energy into the construct once more, only to then send strands containing the Intent Seed of Spell Control into it not long after.
Having the two elements move together, the young man intently watched as the aura emanating from the two elements gradually grew stronger, eventually reaching a point where the aura was as strong as the result of his first circuit around the halfway mark.
Feeling the power contained within the energy and concept continue to grow stronger as they crossed through more of the nodes, Ataraxia soon shifted his entire focus towards the two elements, noticing that they were nearing the final node.
In fact, he had even activated [Sight of Arcane Origin] during that time, just in case the answer to his earlier failure was something invisible to the naked eye.
Fwoosh!
Eventually, after a bit more waiting, the energy and the concept found themselves at the penultimate node of Ataraxia’s refined circuit, now carrying a level of power that was around 20% stronger than the result he got from his previous failed attempt.
Getting the feeling that he would get his hands on a powerful False Intent-tier skill if the two elements passed through the final node, Ataraxia kept his eyes fully peeled as he slowly moved both the energy and the concept closer to the final node.
Unfortunately, just like before…
Whoosh!
Both the energy and the concept he put into the construct disappeared just before either of them could make contact with the final node, briefly leaving the young man in a state of slight despondence.
Though, after a bit of silence, his expression slowly turned into that of calm and understanding.
’I see,’ inwardly muttered the young man to himself as he deactivated [Sight of Arcane Origin].
’So that’s why the energy and concept I put in would disappear at the last moment.’
As these words came to mind, the young man closed his eyes as he sat cross-legged in the void, his mind briefly thinking back to what he saw the second time the two elements tried to make contact with the final node.
Without his ocular skill activated, all Ataraxia saw when the energy and concept disappeared all of a sudden was just that. To him, it was as if the energy and concept he put into the construct had either been siphoned or transported far away.
Fortunately, with [Sight of Arcane Origin] offering him another perspective to the world surrounding him, the young man finally understood why the two elements seemed to disintegrate just before reaching the final node.
Under that special vision, he noticed that both the energy and the concept were brimming with more and more power as they went through the various nodes that made up the energy circuit.
However, when he watched the two elements near the few final nodes of the circuit, Ataraxia saw that the two elements were already filled to the brim with greater power, with the last few nodes they passed through even causing them to overflow.
And thus, by the time they tried to reach the final node, both the energy and concept couldn’t handle any more power, causing both of them to collapse and disappear as if they weren’t there in the first place.
’In other words, the reason why the circuit is failing is not because of the circuit itself.’ Opening his eyes once more, the young man let out a faint sigh as this thought echoed in his mind.
’It’s the energy that trying to course through it.’
Seeing as both elements would collapse on themselves the moment they tried to near the final node of the circuit, Ataraxia already knew that all he needed to do to fix it was to make sure both the energy and concept he put in could handle the increase in power.
’…But how would I do that, though?’ asked the young man to himself not long after, rubbing his chin for a bit as he envisioned multiple ways in his mind that would allow him to achieve such a feat.
Thankfully, after pondering over the question for a few minutes, the young man was reminded of a method he was already more than familiar with thanks to his prior experiences, causing him to wryly smile the moment he thought of it.
’Since braiding mana and Mystic Energy yielded bits of that powerful gold energy, and braiding mana and Shadow Energy according to the Truth Weaver Scripture yielded Prime Azure Energy…’
’Who says I can’t use the same concept to power this skill of mine?’
Whoosh!
With the thought continuing to linger in his mind, Ataraxia went ahead and sent both energy and concept into the construct once more, feeling a hint of anticipation before he had the elements move.
However, unlike before, where he had them go through the nodes without hesitation, the young man entangled the two elements together first, wrapping them tightly into a braid that felt nonsensical at first thought.
Though, with how the two took on a tangible form within the void, the young man quickly dismissed that thought, sending the two through the nodes of the circuit not long after.
“…Let’s hope this works.”
