Chapter 1609: Breaking Barriers: The Third Trial (4)
Whoosh!
Though Ataraxia did not understand what Aeramis meant by his words at first, the young man still shifted his attention towards the magic circle, confident that the latter would give him the opportunity to deepen his understanding in that area.
“Huu…” Letting out a long exhale to compose himself, the man briefly glanced at the magic circle he had modified, taking note of the tempestuous aura that currently surrounded the construct.
Swoosh!
Then, feeling as if he’d gotten an idea of where to proceed with the magic circle, he went ahead and summoned one of the concepts he had comprehended, briefly causing his body to resonate with the world as the strength of a Culmination-stage Intent Seed gradually appeared the man.
Directing his attention towards the magic circle, he then sent this Intent Seed towards it, allowing it to fuse with the magic circle as a whole while subtly changing the construct’s flow of energy during the process.
Bang!
At the very moment the Intent Seed Aeramis summoned fully settled into the magic circle, a loud explosion soon resounded throughout the surroundings, briefly leaving Ataraxia at a loss for words as he felt the magic circle’s aura undergo massive improvement.
What was once a storm that vaguely gave off a hint of lethality to it, the young man instead began to sense a series of raging tempests from the magic circle, with each one of them carrying enough power to possibly destroy a small portion of the forest surrounding them.
Faintly shuddering as he came to this conclusion, Ataraxia soon shifted his attention back to Aeramis, who dispelled the magic circle he brought to life a few seconds later.
Whoosh!
’Why, though?’ asked the young man to himself, not understanding why the man would dispel it after having it reach that level of strength.
After all, if given enough time, he was confident that he’d be able to replicate parts of it, if not the whole magic circle itself. In a way, the magic circle could be considered as a trump card during the current stage of Greater Beyond.
Though, as he gave it a bit more thought, the young man felt that the reason why Aeramis did so probably had something to do with him.
Then again… whether or not that was the case remained to be seen.
“Considering that it has no accompanying movement, the magic circle I’ve modified just now wouldn’t be classified as an actual False Intent-tier skill,” said Aeramis, looking at Ataraxia with a faint smile. “However, if you think about its energy output and the concepts I infused into it, then it definitely reaches that standard.”
“Though a vast chasm of strength exists between a random personal skill and a Nascent-tier skill, there is a hard limit to the level of power a Nascent-tier skill could achieve.”
“Although greater attributes would undoubtedly help boost its power just a tad further, there’s only so much one could squeeze out of a Nascent-tier skill, especially if one were to consider the skill’s flow of energy.”
“However, if one were to integrate the truths of the universe into their skill, then it goes without saying that the maximum level of power the skill could reach greatly increases,” the man continued, giving Ataraxia enough time to digest his explanation.
“Then again, this limit highly depends on the level of the concept, as well as the number of concepts integrated into the skill.”
“But just for reference, even a False Intent-tier skill only relying on one Intent Seed can already unleash twice the maximum power of a Nascent-tier skill.”
“Though, as far as I remember, some talented beings have been able to push that improvement to five times.”
“…” Feeling at a great loss for words by the time Aeramis was done with his explanation, Ataraxia blankly stared at the man in silence as the gears in his mind continued to turn.
Taking all the time he needed to digest and process all of the information the man shared with him, the young man eventually let out a faint sigh of relief, only for his eyes to start glistening with determination not long after.
After all, now that Aeramis was done giving him an explanation on what a False Intent-tier skill was, the only thing that could come next aside from the trial itself… was the man’s lesson on creating a movement skill from scratch!
’Although I don’t know how difficult it is to apply what I’ll learn from his lessons to other skill types, what I do know is that I should absorb everything he teaches me from here on out,’ thought Ataraxia to himself, letting out a long exhale as he prepared for what’s to come.
’Aside from having the knowledge being great help to improving my combat strength later on, Valyr also needs this in order for him to finally complete that gunslinger quest.’
’Then again, speaking of quests…’
’I wonder if he still remembers the main quest and the world quest he has?’
…
After pushing all thoughts regarding Valyr and his plans with the newly obtained knowledge to the side, Ataraxia earnestly listened to everything Aeramis had to say about creating movement skills, committing each and every word the latter said to memory.
At the same time, he committed all of the experiences he accumulated during the man’s lessons, seeing as the latter had gone out of his way to demonstrate how to create a movement skill from scratch.
And thus, after around six hours had passed, the young man was finally equipped with the knowledge to make a good personal skill of his own, with Aeramis somewhat astounded at the speed Ataraxia showed in applying his teachings.
“Seeing as how you’ve easily adapted to the techniques needed to create a movement skill out of nothing, I suppose you’re more than ready to tackle the third trial in earnest,” said the man, prompting the young man to nod in agreement with a slight smile.
Faintly smiling in return, he continued, “Although I haven’t mentioned it before, what you’ve gained thus far is an opportunity only given to those who have chosen the path of Breaking Barriers.”
“As for those in the paths of Whispering Winds and Soaring Skies, their third trial instead involves having to learn one of the basic movement skills I made and replicating it.”
“Aside from that, I still have a couple more things to explain regarding the third trial…” As these words left his mouth, Aeramis soon shook his head. “Though, that could wait until you present your first movement skill.”
“Any other questions?”
Ataraxia shook his head in response.
“Alright, then.” Nodding in confirmation, the man took in a deep breath as he loudly announced, “Since you have no further questions…”
“Let the third trial begin!”
