Chapter 1579: Heading Deeper
Chapter 1579: Heading Deeper
“…[Orb of Apyrhan]!”
Acting as the initiator of the entire group, Ataraxia sent a massive orb of flames towards the monster group before them, making sure to aim at the spot where the monsters congregated the most.
Bang!
With his stats on par with an elite Rank 5 class holder, it went without saying that the orb immediately laid waste to the monsters the moment it made contact, rendering over a quarter of the monsters dead before they could even retaliate.
As for those that remained, they remained where they were as if it were their life’s calling. Nevertheless, if one were to look closely, one would notice that all of them were shuddering in fear of being the orb’s next target.
“Attack!”
Seeing that his actions had worked properly on the opposition, Ataraxia went ahead and had the members of his group take the fight from there, with the melee classes already barreling towards the monsters at the forefront.
“Haah!”
Being a berserker, Thomas showed no hesitation as he charged at a group of monsters.
“[Gale Sweep]!”
Tightly gripping onto his war axe, he went ahead and put all of his strength into it as he activated a skill, allowing him to conjure a large blade of energy that bisected over a dozen monsters at the torso.
“[Fivefold Shot]!”
While Thomas and the other melee classes were having fun at the frontlines, Meria and the ranged classes picked off the monsters that tried to run away from the group, showing great control over their bow and arrow while doing so.
Swoosh! Swoosh! Swoosh!
Accompanied by the constant spells cast by the mages, as well as the timely healing spells of the healers, it did not take long for the entire group to kill all of the monsters that barred their way.
Whoosh!
In just a few seconds, the barrier that stopped them from going any further soon disappeared, prompting wide smiles to appear on everyone’s faces as they took the opportunity to catch their breath.
“We’ll rest for five minutes before we proceed to the next layer,” said Ataraxia to everyone, a smile adorning his face as he made his way towards the loot the monsters dropped.
After showing everyone at the start of the dungeon that their levels were far higher than the monsters they were up against, it was as if a blazing fire was lit within the entire group’s bodies as they dealt with the goblins in a matter of minutes.
Although this fire gradually settled down the further they got, the group eventually regained the confidence they had while facing all the other dungeons from before, allowing them to make use all of the tips and tricks they’ve learned while clearing those places.
With that, even though the monsters they fought in the deeper layers had higher levels than the first group they fought, they were still able to deal with them with relative ease.
Though, part of it was all thanks to the massive stat buffs the Statues of Transcendence gave them.
’With this layer cleared, the 30th layer is finally up next.’ As these words echoed within his mind, Ataraxia methodically picked up the dropped loot, arranging them in categorized piles in his spatial bracelet.
’So far, the monsters we’ve fought have gradually increased their levels to the later levels of Rank 2.’
’With every 10th layer being a checkpoint of sorts, it wouldn’t be surprising if the monsters that we’re up against next are at the peak of Rank 2,’ thought the young man to himself, the gears in his mind turning as he rummaged through his treasure trove of memories.
’…Then again, as far as I remember, the dungeon also does something random every 30 layers.’
’As far as I know, one of the possibilities changes the monsters to mini-bosses… a few more levels higher, perhaps?’
’But there’s also the possibility of us having to fight against a boss instead of multiple mini-bosses…’
’…Let’s just hope luck is on our side today.’
As this thought came to mind, the young man slightly sped up the pace at which he picked up the loot, which made everyone else in the group realize that they might have to tackle the next layer sooner than expected.
Though they were somewhat curious as to what made their leader hasten his pace all of a sudden, the group decided to remain silent until he was done picking up all the dropped items.
“What’s the hurry?” Jacques asked him, only for a possible idea to pop up in his mind soon after. “Wait… did another guild already get a copy of the entire Greater Horizon set?”
“That’s not it.” The young man shook his head.
Sending a short message to Malutar regarding Jacques’ query, he then continued, “I’ve just been thinking about the 30th layer.”
“The 30th layer?” Alisa raised her eyebrow at those words. “…Is it related to the conversation we had at the beginning of the dungeon?”
“Yeah.” Ataraxia nodded, his expression solemn. “I’m sure everyone’s noticed how the monsters at every 10th layer is considerably stronger than the ones in the layer before it.”
Everyone in the group nodded at his words.
“However, from what I’ve gathered from the other guild leaders, the dungeon has another gimmick every 30th layer,” he continued, making up an excuse of where he got the information on the spot.
“Every 10th layer has us fighting against slightly stronger monsters than the layer before it. On the other hand, every 30th layer has us facing three possible outcomes.”
“The first possibility is similar to what we’ve experienced in the 10th and 20th layer.”
“The second possibility is that all the monsters we face in the 30th layer have been turned into mini-bosses.”
“As for the last possibility…” Briefly pausing, Ataraxia swept his gaze over everyone. “We’ll have to face a boss with a far higher level and tier than the ones we’ve been fighting so far.”
“…So that’s what you meant by later,” said Alisa in response, giving the young man a look of understanding.
“Yeah.” Nodding at her words, Ataraxia went ahead and ordered the reconnaissance team to scout the 30th layer for them, reminding them to be careful of attracting the monsters’ attention.
After giving their leader assurance that they’d back in no time, the reconnaissance team soon delved deeper into the dungeon, leaving everyone else that remained no choice but to wait for good news.
Yet, even after waiting for the reconnaissance team for 10 minutes straight, Ataraxia and the others received no sign from them whatsoever.
Just as some of the group began to wonder whether everyone in the reconnaissance team had actually died without them knowing, one of the members of the team began to trudge their way back to them after a few minutes of waiting.
At first, the young man let out a sigh of relief after seeing the sole scout, glad to see that they’d be able to obtain information on the 30th layer in advance.
Though, once he got a better look at the scout heading towards them, Ataraxia soon had a grim expression on his face as he frowned.
’…The third possibility, huh?’
’…Well that’s a problem.’
