Chapter 631: The Wind God Supreme Assassin
An assassin was supposed to be shadowy, quiet, and difficult to detect. Someone who struck from the darkness before disappearing without a trace.
This old man was nothing like that.
He was loud, arrogant, and completely unrestrained, charging straight into battle with the enthusiasm of a man who had been waiting all day for someone strong enough to give him a proper fight.
Fortunately, he had the strength to back up his attitude.
Boom! Crash!
The Seven-Soul Devil was no weakling either. The two assassins continued exchanging blows at incredible speed, their movements accompanied by violent explosions that shook the surrounding air. In the middle of their fierce battle, the Seven-Soul Devil had already forced his way to within three hundred meters of Marcus, bringing him dangerously close to the Yin-Yang Panda Egg.
Yet as the white-cloaked old man watched the Primordial Yin-Yang Energy converging from every direction, his expression gradually changed. He looked at the enormous Yin-Yang Harmony Diagram surrounding the egg, then at the increasingly frantic Seven-Soul Devil.
He finally understood.
The Seven-Soul Devil wasn’t fighting desperately because he wanted to escape. He was fighting desperately because he needed to reach this place.
"Hahahaha!"
The white-cloaked old man suddenly burst into hearty laughter. There was not the slightest trace of an assassin’s usual caution or restraint in his expression. If anything, he looked more like a battle-crazed warrior who had just discovered something particularly interesting.
What surprised Marcus even more was that the old man didn’t seem interested in the Yin-Yang Panda Egg at all. His attention remained fixed entirely on the Seven-Soul Devil.
From that, Marcus quickly came to a conclusion.
This white-cloaked old man was probably one of those righteous system characters who didn’t bother themselves with stealing things from players, much like Liam Windrunner.
The old man suddenly raised his voice and shouted toward the Seven-Soul Devil, "pesky demon, if you want to go any farther, you’ll have to get through me first! Come on, give this old man a proper workout!"
His voice was so loud that Marcus could hear every word clearly.
The next instant, the old man’s white cloak billowed violently behind him.
"Windwhirl Divine Stab!"
His tall figure flickered through the air before suddenly spinning at incredible speed. A fierce gale erupted around him, and his speed and attack power surged at the same time. His twin blades became little more than flashes of white as he charged at the Seven-Soul Devil with the force of a massive tidal wave crashing down from above.
"Excellent!"
Marcus couldn’t help feeling excited as he watched the battle.
The fiercer this fight became, the better. At that moment, a private message from Alana arrived.
"Master, how is it going? Has the Seven-Soul Devil arrived...?"
"He’s here!"
Marcus continued watching the battle from a safe distance and quickly explained the situation, including the appearance of the white-cloaked old man.
Alana’s response came almost immediately.
"Master, could that be him? The madman, the strongest assassin on the entire Dreamland Continent... the Wind God Supreme Assassin, Gale?"
’A madman? The strongest assassin?’
Marcus blinked. What kind of title was that?
Fortunately, Alana quickly gave him an explanation.
The Wind God Supreme Assassin Gale was a human who was said to have already stepped onto the Divine Path. He was currently recognized as the strongest assassin on the Dreamland Continent, but his temperament was almost completely at odds with what one would expect from an assassin. Gale was notoriously hot-tempered and obsessed with battle. He constantly searched for powerful opponents, challenging them to brutal fights simply because he enjoyed testing himself against the strongest people he could find.
And his combat ability was terrifying.
Once Gale locked onto an opponent, escaping him was practically impossible. He would pursue the fight relentlessly until he was satisfied, which was why he had earned the infamous nickname of the battle-crazed madman.
And right now, the Seven-Soul Devil was practically going insane. Of all the possible times, why did he have to run into this lunatic now?
The most battle-hungry assassin in the Dreamland Continent, the strongest assassin alive, and someone who behaved about as much like a traditional assassin as a roaring berserker.
Wind God Supreme Assassin Gale.
The Seven-Soul Devil had originally rushed toward this location after receiving the Golden Rabbit King’s warning. Unfortunately, on his way here, he happened to encounter Gale.
The moment the battle-crazed assassin saw such a powerful opponent, his eyes lit up. Without asking a single question, Gale had laughed and immediately attacked him.
The Seven-Soul Devil was powerful enough to dominate most opponents, but against Gale, he was clearly at a disadvantage. Under normal circumstances, he would have disappeared and fled the moment he realized he couldn’t win.
But he couldn’t do that today. The Yin-Yang Panda Egg was here.
He had pursued that egg for years, and now, with its hatching apparently so close, he absolutely could not afford to abandon it. So even though Gale’s relentless attacks were driving him to the brink of madness, the Seven-Soul Devil had endured them and continued forcing his way forward.
Now he was less than three hundred meters from the egg.
The moment he saw the Yin-Yang Harmony Diagram continuing to absorb the surrounding Primordial Yin-Yang Energy, the Seven-Soul Devil finally lost what little patience he had left.
He couldn’t waste any more time.
"Seven-Soul Avatar Art!"
With a furious shout, the dark energy surrounding the Seven-Soul Devil suddenly thickened, becoming as dark as ink. A terrifying surge of demonic energy exploded from his body as he unleashed one of his ultimate techniques.
Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!
Seven identical figures suddenly appeared beside him in a blur of light and shadow.
The seven figures raised their weapons simultaneously. Then all seven spoke with the same voice.
"Demon Shadow Chaos Stab!"
The seven robed figures erupted forward. Each wielded a different weapon, and each was surrounded by violent dark demonic energy as they attacked Gale from different directions at once.
But Gale wasn’t someone who could be overwhelmed so easily.
The moment he saw the Seven-Soul Devil finally bring out his ultimate technique, his eyes lit up with excitement.
"Now that’s more like it!" he roared. "Now you’re finally acting like a demon!"
"Tempest Dragon God Stab!"
The instant his voice fell, Gale’s attack changed.
The previous Windwhirl Divine Stab had already been frighteningly powerful, but this technique was on an entirely different level.
Gale’s body began spinning violently, and a howling storm erupted around him. In the blink of an eye, he transformed into a gigantic spinning vortex, countless flashes of blade light tearing through the air as he charged straight into the seven avatars.
Boom! Crash! Clash!
The collision between the two ultimate techniques sent explosions ripping through the sky.
Gale’s blade vortex smashed into the Seven-Soul Devil’s avatars one after another. Every collision caused an avatar’s dark energy to visibly weaken, and the two avatars that took the heaviest impacts suffered an especially severe loss of health.
The battle had become completely chaotic.
Yet while Gale was thoroughly engrossed in the fight, something happened that Marcus hadn’t expected.
The Seven-Soul Devil’s true body suddenly broke away from the battlefield.
With the seven avatars keeping Gale occupied, the real Seven-Soul Devil shot forward at blinding speed, heading directly for Marcus and the Yin-Yang Panda Egg.
And Gale didn’t even bother to stop him, he was too busy fighting the seven avatars.
In fact, judging from the exhilaration on his face, Gale probably didn’t care whether the Seven-Soul Devil’s true body escaped at all. To him, the seven avatars were already more than enough to make the battle enjoyable.
"Damn it."
Marcus couldn’t count on Gale to help him. If you wanted something done, sometimes you really did have to do it yourself.
There was no way Marcus could simply stand around and wait for the Yin-Yang Panda Egg to hatch while the Seven-Soul Devil charged straight toward it. If he wanted the egg, he had to buy it time.
He had to fight.
"I’ll hold you off myself!"
Marcus’s gaze hardened.
He had already prepared the Illusion Mist Stone, the Red Artifact he had obtained on Crescent Island. He immediately threw the white stone forward.
"Illusion Mist Stone!"
The stone exploded in midair.
Whoosh!
A dense white mist suddenly erupted and spread outward at astonishing speed. In the blink of an eye, it expanded into a massive Illusion Mist Palace, enveloping everything within a full thousand-meter radius.
A thousand meters!
The Seven-Soul Devil, who had been charging straight toward Marcus, was instantly swallowed by the mist. Gale and his seven avatars were caught inside as well. The world around the Seven-Soul Devil suddenly turned white.
The scenery disappeared.
The Yin-Yang Panda Egg was gone from sight, and so was the knight who had been standing beside it, waiting to claim it.
