Chapter 388 - Jane Showed Her True Face
"Hey, baby girl stop thinking like that. Jackson isn't so dumb to believe whatever he sees on the news...,"
"If he didn't believe those pictures and what the reporters say then why didn't he call or even message me with the phone I gave to him? Can you explain that to me?" Jasmine said as she stare at the lady who was trying to wipe her face with the tissue.
"He must have been damn busy...,"
"I won't buy that. I am sure he must despise me. He must think that I was using him all this while," Jasmine said as her tears begin falling afresh.
"Stop it and pull yourself together. Your relationship is important but so is the company. Let's save the company first and then we will deal with Jackson's issues later ok?" Catherine cleaned her best friend's tears.
"You are stronger than this girl. We can do this hmm," Catherine pats her back affectionately.
"Also, Elizabeth and Evelyn called to complain that you keep ignoring their calls. They are very worried but due to the reporters lining up out there neither the ladies nor the guys can drop by," Catherine relayed the information she forgot to relay earlier.
"I know they all care about me. I have been so damn worried about Ice Prince not contacting me that is why I forgot to call them back...,"
"Don't forget to do that later hmm," Catherine said as she stare at her best friend's face.
Despite that Jasmine was sad, she knew that her company and employees needed her so she pulled herself together. She and Catherine then get to work.
They started making calls while working closely with the team they had set up. With the connection, Jasmine has combined with her family's influence Jasmine was able to make the stock prices of her company a little stable.
Thank goodness to the good Samaritan who helped her, the picture of her and Nicholas were temporarily taken down.
Later that day, Elizabeth called Jasmine's second phone since her official phone was still turned off because of too many calls.
"Jasmine, how have you been faring? I called yesterday and even two nights ago but you ignored my calls, why?" The worried Elizabeth asked as she adjusted on her executive chair.
"I am fine and I was busy when you called that is why I missed your calls. A lot of things has been going on that is why I forgot to call back," Jasmine lied not wanting to tell Elizabeth that she was far from being ok especially emotionally. She was afraid of making her worried.
"Jasmine, about your company's case and that of Jackson, why don't I ask dad to intervene? I am sure he would...,"
"Don't do that Lizzy," Jasmine said abruptly.
"I can handle the situation so there is no need to force father to help me. I don't want to get lectured by him neither do I want him to use this in the future to threaten me..,"
"You know that is not true. Dad won't do that to you. He loves you a lot. You have misunderstood dad's affection for...,"
"Lizzy, can we not talk about that? I have a bad headache, I can't stay on the phone for a long time," Jasmine who didn't like the topic about her father said.
"If that is the case then I will disconnect the call now. Don't forget to think less and have enough rest. Try as much as possible not to skip your meals so you won't harm your health," Elizabeth advised in a caring tone.
"I will try to do that. Greet brother-in-law for me," Jasmine said before she disconnected the call. She leaned back on the couch afterwards and closed her eyes.
Although Jasmine was able to stabilise the condition of her company that wasn't the case with Jackson. The leak case combined with the news of being played at by a woman, the investors were very various and incapable of being calmed down.
A board meeting was immediately set the next day. He was so lost at what to do to resolve the entire issue.
Just like the previous day, Jasmine waited until midnight in the company for Jackson but he didn't show up. She went back home and continued with her waiting.
Because she was waiting for him she did not have a wink of sleep.
Lilian on entering the sitting room and meeting Jasmine staggered backwards rushed to the lady's side.
"Madam, are you ok? You look very exhausted," Lilian asked in a worried tone. She stare at the lady who looked unwell. For the past two days, she could vouch that she hasn't seen Jasmine smile.
"I am ok," Jasmine said as she made to approach the stairs.
"Madam, for the past two nights you haven't had a wink of sleep so how about you rest at home today. I am afraid you might fall seriously ill if you keep this up. Boss will blame me...,"
"He hates me right now so I am sure he wouldn't scold you if I was to fall sick and he hears I am dying," Jasmine said in a carefree tone as she approached the stairs.
Before she could climb the stairs someone entered the sitting room and judging from the loud sound of the high heels she knew it was neither a maid nor a security guard.
She turned to face the direction of the entrance. Jasmine frowned when she got a glimpse of the lady's face.
"Leave, I want to talk to her alone. Tell your fellow maids that I will make sure they won't ever be able to make use of their ears if they dare to eavesdrop on our conversation," Jane who seems to come there for a serious business threatened in a cold voice.
Their boss wasn't there so Lilian wasn't surprised to see that Jane had dropped the pretentious acts.
"Don't you think that it is rude of you to come into someone's else house and threaten...,"
"I am glad that at least you are aware that this isn't your house," Jane snapped as she dropped her handbag on the centre table.
"I am glad you have dropped that innocent girl act because this saves me the trouble of looking for the perfect excuse to throw you out," Jasmine said as she went back to the centre of the room where Jane stood.
"Seeing how you are so eager to throw me out I am sure you have lots of energy right especially after you slept soundly last night. While you were sleeping so soundly yesterday did you even think of how Jack has been faring...,"
"In fact why am I even asking you this question when you are the sole reason why he hasn't had a wink of sleep for the past two days. He has been working like a machine and yet you have the heart to sleep after what you..,"
"Shouldn't you know better who is responsible for the leak? Ice Prince isn't here so you can drop the act," Jasmine snapped rudely. Jane sat down on the couch with her legs crossed without talking immediately.
"The public and media don't care about the truth. Neither do the investors who are at Jack's neck care about the truth. All they care about is profit that is why they won't even spare Jack because of this one mistake his employees made," Jane said as she brought her attention to Jasmine.
"What do you mean by the investors are at Ice Prince neck...,"
"Do you even need to ask to know that you are responsible for his plights? He has worked in the company since he was fifteen years old after his father died. He has spent half of his life in the company and yet they didn't hesitate to bring up the agenda of removing him from his position as the CEO. His blood and sweat will go down the drain all because of you," Jane said angrily while glaring at the shocked Jasmine.
"If the issue was this serious then why didn't he call and tell me about this. I would have tried and helped him...,"
"And how do you expect to help him? Can you restore the plummeting stock price of our company? Or can you calm down a million shareholders of the entire Smith International? Can you do these two things?" Jane asked harshly, her hatred visible in her eyes.
