Chapter 98: Chapter 94: "Darling, I Think I’m Pregnant.

The silvery moonlight shone upon the Bone Forest, casting a hazy web of light and shadow.

The shadows of the trees swayed gently in the wind, like phantoms in a faint, ghostly dance.

A gentle breeze rustled Sophie’s silver hair, and a trace of joy appeared on her cool, aloof face.

A Kingfisher landed on her shoulder and let out a cheerful chirp.

"Miss Sophie, what can I do for you?"

Lian offered an extremely gentlemanly bow, smiling at Sophie.

Sophie thought for a moment, then held up one finger.

"1 day."

Lately, he and Sophie had rarely had any time alone. During the day, he had to perform Entry Cleaning for the Guards, and at night, he had to take care of Catherine.

’So, does Sophie want me to take a day off to spend with her?’

Just as Lian was thinking this, he heard Sophie continue,

"A 1-day holiday."

’So she just wants a day off? That makes sense. The Guards have been taking leave in shifts, but the important people around me haven’t had a break. That was my oversight.’

Lian nodded. "Alright, Sophie gets a day off."

Sophie shook her head and pointed at Lian.

Lian froze for a moment. Sophie wasn’t asking for a day off for herself, but for him. ’Does she think I’ve been too tired lately and need a rest?’

Sophie had completely misunderstood him, though. Lian was having the time of his life reaping Points every day, and at night, he was lost in bliss.

But her thoughtfulness and innocence still moved him and made him feel guilty.

’I can’t bear the thought of letting such a wonderful Miss Witch go to someone else. She has to be mine.’

"Sophie, thank you. But the situation is critical right now. Our break will have to wait until the war is over. When it is, we’ll take a vacation together, and I’ll do something romantic with you."

Lian couldn’t take a day off now. If he did, the Guards cursed by the Spirit of the Forest would be in trouble.

He had to perform their Entry Cleaning as quickly as possible.

Sophie nodded slightly, not at all dissatisfied with this answer.

She also valued responsibility, so she understood Lian’s decision.

Besides, she was looking forward to the romantic things Lian had mentioned. Only Lian would do something romantic with a Witch like her.

"Sophie, my Swordsmanship has improved again. Do you want to see?"

Lian raised an eyebrow, changing the subject.

Besides Sophie, he didn’t know who else he could show off to.

Sophie nodded again.

Lian drew Snow Walk and, with his Knight’s Blade, unleashed the Bright Sword.

A dazzling light instantly illuminated the night sky. Birds and beasts scattered through the forest, and a deep chasm appeared in the ground.

CRACK—

It seemed like something had shattered.

Lian peeked over and discovered a Red Skull hidden in the dirt, along with the Skeleton Giant it had been sitting on.

The Bright Sword had cleaved both the Skeleton Wizard and the Skeleton Giant in two, from head to toe.

Their hollow eye sockets were filled with disbelief, as if this were impossible. The Skeleton Wizard’s claws were even still lightly patting the Skeleton Giant’s massive skull, as if a moment before it had been ordering it, ’Hurry it up!’

And in the next moment, they had met with an abrupt and calamitous fate.

Then, their already brittle bones turned to dust and dissipated, leaving only rubble and dirt in the deep underground chasm.

Lian was astonished, but his heart also ached.

’That was a Red Skeleton Wizard!!!!’

’A single Wizard capable of cursing an entire army! And I just killed it that easily.’

’I really didn’t mean to!’

’I just wanted to show off my newly mastered Bright Sword to Sophie.’

’Who would’ve thought one swing of the sword would be enough to kill a Red Skeleton Wizard? And its Giant mount, to boot.’

Lian faintly heard rustling sounds from under the soil.

The extremely well-hidden Skeleton Monsters had no idea how the human before them had discovered their underground approach.

But since they had already been discovered, there was no need for them to hide anymore. One after another, they stretched their bony claws out from the soil.

Following the sound of breaking earth from all around, dozens of C Level Skeleton Giants burst out from underground, surrounding Sophie and Lian.

Small D Level skeletons sat on the shoulders of these Skeleton Giants.

Although the Southern Army hadn’t attacked the Skeleton Monsters’ territory recently, they still occupied Eastern District 1.

Thus, the skeletons decided to launch a sneak attack on the main human encampment. They would enter from the border where Eastern District 5 met Northern District 1, then circle around to the rear of the human base.

Originally, the plan was flawless; no one should have noticed a thing.

But they hadn’t counted on such an inauspicious start. A Red Skeleton Wizard had just led a small team underground and barely reached Northern District 1 before a cunning human discovered them and killed their revered Wizard with a single sword strike.

Skeleton Monsters possess a degree of intelligence, allowing them to adapt to changing circumstances. Since they were exposed, they might as well just fight.

’Kill these two clueless humans, then continue the mission.’

With this thought in mind, the Skeleton Giants swung their huge axes and swarmed forward.

As the six-meter-tall Giants charged, the ground trembled slightly, like a minor earthquake.

"Sophie, let me handle this."

Lian remembered Kob saying that a C Level Skeleton Giant was equivalent to a Three-star Glory Knight, and a small D Level skeleton was only equivalent to a Two-star Knight.

’I’ve already become a proper Five-star Light and Shadow Knight. In the dark, I even get a fifty-percent Power bonus, bringing my Power infinitely close to that of a Six-star Radiant Knight. Why would I be afraid of a mere sixty-some Skeleton Monsters?’
