Chapter 166: Chapter 126: The Three Women’s Xiuluo Scene

Although it was the first time the diplomatic officials from Rose Territory had met Lian Moria, they had long since heard how he had used Khrish to nearly have the leader of the Rose Knight Order—Lady Mary’s Chief Knight, Lord Yaxin Matic—stripped of his nobility.

None of them dared to underestimate Lian Moria. After all, infringing upon Lian’s personal interests would be tantamount to indirectly offending Duke Moria, wouldn’t it?

It was said that although Duke Moria hadn’t personally attended Lian Moria’s engagement to Catherine, he had sent his beloved second son, George Moria, to the ceremony. He had even given his own sword to Lian Moria—a sign of immense favor. Furthermore, the Simmons family, one of the Creed Clans, had also extended an olive branch, verifying what Lian Moria had previously claimed: he was backed by the Moria Clan and the Creed Clan.

The once-obscure Lian Moria had, because of this, forced his way into the sights of the major players. He even occupied considerable space in several of the Empire’s most renowned newspapers, becoming a household name as the Empire’s new upstart.

No one wanted to casually offend an upstart like him. He was young, his future was promising, and no one knew how far he might go.

Unless Lady Mary herself issued a direct order to make things difficult for Lian Moria, the diplomatic officials had to show him some deference. They had to do their best not to offend this new upstart of the Empire.

Fortunately, they saw Nancy Scalia standing beside Lian Moria. Combined with the news they had received earlier, it proved that Nancy Scalia had truly become Lian Moria’s mistress.

As long as this upstart could be swayed by a beautiful woman and lean politically toward Rose Territory, they wouldn’t have to face too much pressure.

When Lian produced a stack of legal documents, it was clear he wanted to collect a bribe before negotiations even began. He was testing Rose Territory’s sincerity in winning him over.

The diplomatic officials unanimously agreed: besides beautiful women, Lian Moria also wanted money and wealth.

This was most likely related to his status as an Illegitimate Child. Furthermore, Green Shade Territory was impoverished, and the Moria Clan had probably not yet provided him with sufficient financial aid.

The diplomatic officials saw this as a good opportunity to curry favor with Lian Moria. They figured they might as well give him the assets that "belonged" to him to show just how eager Rose Territory was to secure his talents.

In any case, assets in Lian Moria’s hands were not the same as assets in Blue Moon Territory’s hands. Lian and Catherine were only engaged, not truly married.

Right now, Yusofa was like a cake. Mary was allowing her allies to take a slice, but only on the condition that she would secure greater benefits for herself.

This concession was just a tactic to make it easier to swallow up Blue Moon Territory.

If they managed to take Blue Moon Territory, the diplomatic officials felt Lady Mary wouldn’t mind in the slightest, even if they had to give the entirety of the tiny land of Yusofa to Lian Moria.

So, they examined the documents carefully. But as they read, their brows began to furrow, and their discussion grew increasingly heated.

They had expected Lian to demand some of Yusofa’s assets, but they never imagined he would make such an outrageous demand.

’Why didn’t he just come out and say the entirety of Yusofa was his?’

’Was he here to inherit Governor Khrish’s position?’

The four diplomatic officials—one old, one middle-aged, and two young—held differing views on the matter.

The younger officials thought Lian was dreaming. His demand amounted to half of Yusofa’s land and wealth. If they gave all that to Lian, what ransom could they possibly demand from Blue Moon Territory? Under no circumstances could they cede all the lands specified in the documents. It would split Yusofa in two; if they agreed, it would henceforth be North and South Yusofa.

The middle-aged official thought Lian was asking for far too much. Much of Khrish’s former land had been bestowed upon him by Mary, and she could retract it at will. Without the seal of Rose Territory, the documents held no legal weight.

The elderly official, however, saw it as Lian’s opening gambit. He argued that the documents possessed a degree of legal validity. If Rose Territory refused to acknowledge them, they would fail to win over this potential ally. His continued support for Catherine would be detrimental to Rose Territory. And if he had also struck some kind of deal with the Simmons family, the situation would become even trickier.

The last thing Rose Territory wanted was for the Shield of the South, the Simmons family, to get involved in the war. The greed of the Simmons family surpassed even that of the Moria Clan.

And so, the four of them debated fiercely while Lian lounged to the side, lazily sipping his coffee and waiting for them to reach a conclusion.

"Oh, the coffee in Yusofa is rather mediocre. If you’re willing to come with me to Green Shade Territory, I’ll let you taste what real coffee is like."

Lian smiled and flirted with his first mistress, Nancy Stuart.

Nancy Stuart sat on his lap, took the coffee cup from his hand, and took a delicate sip.

"The people of Yusofa are no longer in the mood to make coffee. They’ve lost their Spiritual Sensitivity."

Annie and Dora desperately wanted to kick the woman off his lap and put a stop to their indirect kiss, but this was clearly not the time or place for it.

Their performance continued.

The female onlookers were not enjoying this part of the show.

Dora was already plotting how to use this incident to blackmail Lian in the future. Annie, meanwhile, was thinking, ’If my sister Anna were here, she would never let Nancy Stuart sit on Lian’s lap. She’d definitely have a way to chase off that vixen.’

Lian hadn’t expected Nancy Stuart to sit on his lap and drink from his cup, either. ’Is this the famed professionalism of a Spy?’
