Minecraft: The Conqueror of Multiverse
Chapter 138 Edge Lord?
Chapter 138: Chapter 139: Edge Lord?
“Is this the alternate universe?”
“Why does it feel like Earth during the 2nd millennium?”
Big E’s gaze swept across the deserted streets before turning to ask Vane, who stood beside him.
As a perpetual born in the BC era, Big E had lived through every stage of human civilization. He’d seen the tribal age, the era of slavery, feudalism, the industrial revolution, and eventually interstellar colonization. The 2K era held special significance; it was the turning point when humanity threw off the shackles of superstition, began measuring reality with science and reason, and took its very first tentative steps toward colonizing the cosmos. Big E remembered this period vividly. The architecture of the time was etched deep in his memory, allowing him to recognize it at a single glance.
“You’re not just feeling things. This is 2K-era Earth,” Vane replied. “Since we’re human, the worlds we drop into are naturally going to be human-dominated. The 2K era was a massive milestone for human civilization, so it makes total sense that we’d end up here.”
Vane stood in front of an abandoned newsstand, reaching out to grab a magazine with an eye-catching title: A Tribute to GUTS: The Defenders of Peace.
The cover featured the GUTS squad, led by Captain Megumi Iruma, followed by her six team members: Deputy Captain Munakata, Rena, Daigo, Horii, Shinjo, and Yazumi.
Flipping to the first page, the article detailed the origins of the TPC organization and the GUTS squad—a specialized seven-member team dedicated to investigating anomalies and extraterrestrial incidents.
Looks like this time around, they had landed in the Ultraman Tiga timeline.
Some universes splintered into different timelines. They shared similar worldbuilding and lore, but each faced a completely different destiny. Just like the Minecraft universe Vane had previously conquered, which had countless parallel seeds and servers. The Ultraman multiverse was almost certainly the same deal, divided into dimensions belonging to different Ultramen. He’d have to beat them one by one to get admin privileges for the entire multiverse.
“Care to fill me in? What kind of world are we dealing with here?” Big E asked.
Vane stroked his chin, mentally organizing his knowledge of the Ultraman lore before answering. “There’s a lot of tech here that causes biological gigantism. Everything is basically split into two factions: the monster faction, which represents pure evil, and the Ultraman faction, who fight for universal justice.”
“Ultraman… So this is an Ultraman world.”
A spark of realization flashed through Big E’s mind.
The Master of Mankind started connecting the scattered fragments of his ancient memories. No wonder this all felt so strangely familiar—he had actually seen the related media and literature eons ago.
That was over thirty thousand years ago. Back then, humanity had just stepped out of Terra and was busy colonizing the solar system. The people of that era were brimming with hope for the future. The whole society was swept up in the romantic spirit of exploration, constantly daydreaming about what lay hidden in the distant stars. Driven by this cultural wave, human colonies scattered across various planets produced a ton of incredible sci-fi media. One of the hottest cosmic IPs was Ultraman—a story about a group of peace-keeping giants who traveled from planet to planet fighting kaiju.
To think he had actually crossed over into a universe like this.
Could there be some bizarre, underlying connection between different universes that makes this possible?
“So, what’s our next move?” Big E looked at Vane, practically vibrating with excitement.
He had just hatched an even grander master plan: he was going to lead humanity in building an unprecedented multiverse civilization. Big E couldn’t wait to get the ball rolling. He was going to drag this universe’s gigantification tech back to the Imperium of Man and give his Astartes another massive upgrade. The glorious aquila banner would be planted across every single universe. No matter the dimension, no matter the era, all humans would stand proud of their heritage.
Before Vane could reply, a TV next to the newsstand blared to life.
[Emergency Broadcast: All citizens are instructed to evacuate to the nearest emergency shelter immediately. Kaiju approach is imminent.]
[Emergency Broadcast: All citizens are instructed to evacuate to the nearest emergency shelter immediately. Kaiju approach is imminent.]
Vane and Big E turned to the screen. The news footage showed four massive kaiju tearing a city apart. TPC fighter jets were raining fire down on the beasts, doing everything in their power to stall the advance, but it was like throwing pebbles at a brick wall.
Right then, a prompt materialized in front of Vane’s eyes.
[Quest Notification: Assist Daigo, possessor of ancient genetics, in locating the pyramid housing the giant’s body so he may become Ultraman Tiga, the guardian of Earth. The kaiju Golza, Garura, Melba, and Zoiger are actively hunting for the bodies left behind by the ancient giants, intending to destroy them and revert Earth to an era of monster rule. Meanwhile, Daigo, the chosen GUTS squad member, remains utterly clueless about the crisis. Please guide him to become Ultraman Tiga and save the world. Rewards upon completion: Godzilla Transformation Device x1, Lucky Block x1, EMC Points x100, Crafting Table x1, Completion Progress +1%, and the Title “Tiga’s Pathfinder”.]
Vane stared at the quest prompt, falling into deep thought.
Wait a minute, this isn’t how the plot goes!
He clearly remembered there being only two kaiju wrecking the statues in the pyramid. Where the hell did four come from?!
Did I spend way too much time in the Minecraft universe? Is my memory getting scrambled?
To be fair, the quest mod had gotten a pretty massive overhaul. The questline was way more detailed now, and he could actually earn loot beyond just titles and completion percentages. This meant he wouldn’t have to grind resources like an absolute madman anymore. All he had to do was follow the quest steps, collect the shiny loot, and beat the level.
“Hey! What are you two still doing out here?! Evacuate, hurry! The monsters are almost here!”
A young man in a GUTS uniform shouted as he sprinted toward them.
Vane looked up and froze for a few seconds.
The guy running at them was none other than his quest target: the GUTS squad’s infamous “Ace of Crashes” pilot, and the human host of the most notoriously underhanded Ultraman in the multiverse—Daigo Madoka.
Daigo rushed up to Vane and Big E, his voice tight with panic. “Gentlemen, the kaiju are closing in! You need to get to the shelter right now.”
Vane completely ignored Daigo’s urgent plea. Instead, he walked in circles around the guy, sizing him up, leaving Tiga’s human host utterly bewildered.
“Your squad should have already recovered the capsule device left behind by Yuzare, the captain of the ancient Earth defense force. So why aren’t you out looking for the giant?” Vane asked.
“How do you know about that?” Daigo’s surprise quickly morphed into defensive suspicion. “Who exactly are you, and what do you want?”
It was true. A little while back, the GUTS squad had retrieved a bizarre meteorite. Upon cutting it open, they found a sleek, metallic capsule device inside. When activated, the capsule projected a hologram of a woman who claimed to be the commander of an ancient Earth defense force. She warned them that the ancient kaiju had awakened, and the only way to stand against them was to resurrect the giant. But right as she was about to explain how to wake the giant up, the device glitched out, cutting off the rest of the message.
Vane clasped his hands behind his back and tilted his head up at a perfect forty-five-degree angle toward the sky.
“I am but a traveler passing through this world. I am the pathfinder meant to guide you onto your fated road… and the man destined to become the King of the Monsters.”
Hearing this grand introduction, Big E’s mouth twitched uncontrollably.
An omnipotent Creator God whose every word dictates reality… is secretly a total clown and a melodramatic edge-lord in his spare time?
From this moment on, Big E officially declared that his rosy illusion of all Creator Gods was permanently shattered!
