Maybe My Soulmate! (GL)
Chapter 294: Skyfall city 6.
The flame suddenly moved.
It turned toward Mo Yuxin.
Then toward Su Yubing.
And the crystal cracked.
A voice came from inside it.
Calm.
Ancient.
Familiar.
"We found them."
The City Lord’s face changed.
Mo Yuxin stood.
Su Yubing stood beside her.
Every cultivator in the room reached for their weapons.
Then the entire city shook.
A massive formation activated beneath Skyfall City.
The black shard exploded.
And somewhere beneath the city, something ancient opened its eyes.
Mo Yuxin looked at Su Yubing.
Su Yubing looked back.
Neither woman was afraid.
Mo Yuxin simply tightened her grip on her wife’s hand.
"Stay close."
Su Yubing smiled.
"I was planning to."
Outside the office, the sky turned completely black.
Every tower in Skyfall City lit up with the same seven blue flames.
And then a voice echoed across the entire mega city.
"THE TWO WHO WALKED OUT OF THE SEA HAVE ARRIVED."
The city fell silent.
Mo Yuxin’s smile disappeared.
Because only one person in the entire Southern Continent should have known those words.
The ancient voice from the ruined sect.
Then another voice answered from beneath the city.
"Begin the second gate."
The ground split open.
And the entire Skyfall City began to descend.
The moment the ground split open, every formation in the City Lord’s Office began flashing at once.
The walls shook so violently that dust fell from the ceiling.
The cultivators inside reacted immediately.
Several Soul Formation elders released their spiritual pressure.
The City Lord shouted, "Protect the civilians first!"
A dozen figures rushed toward the windows.
Mo Yuxin did not move.
Su Yubing stood beside her, perfectly calm.
The crack beneath the city widened.
It did not behave like an ordinary earthquake.
The entire center of Skyfall City was sinking straight downward, as if the ground had become a giant mouth.
Buildings remained standing even while their foundations descended.
Bridges stretched downward without breaking.
Formation pillars extended themselves.
The city’s ancient architects had clearly designed this place with something like this in mind.
That was the first thing that caught Mo Yuxin’s attention.
The second was much more interesting.
The black shard on the table had not disappeared.
It was floating above the table, even though the table itself was already sinking.
Blue flames danced around it.
The City Lord stared at it.
"That should not be possible."
Mo Yuxin reached out.
Before her finger could touch the shard, Su Yubing caught her wrist.
"Wait."
Mo Yuxin stopped instantly.
"You sensed something?"
"Yes."
Su Yubing’s expression was serious.
"It is bait."
Mo Yuxin nodded.
She had sensed it too.
The shard was not merely calling them.
It was trying to make something inside the city recognize their presence.
The City Lord asked, "Do you know what it is?"
Mo Yuxin shook her head.
"Not yet."
"Then we should leave."
Su Yubing looked toward the city outside.
"Can we?"
The City Lord did not answer.
Everyone already knew the answer.
A golden barrier had appeared over the city.
The city was locked in.
Nothing was entering.
Nothing was leaving.
Mo Yuxin looked at Su Yubing.
"It seems our vacation is becoming complicated."
Su Yubing sighed.
"I only wanted to eat at a good restaurant."
"We still can."
"When?"
"After we deal with the person trying to drop the city underground."
Su Yubing nodded.
"Fair enough."
The City Lord stared at them.
"You two are remarkably calm."
Mo Yuxin said, "We have had a long week."
The City Lord looked like she wanted to say something else, but another explosion shook the building.
The central tower of the city cracked.
A giant bronze bell emerged from beneath it.
The bell was covered in ancient symbols.
As it rose, every blue flame in the city turned toward it.
Then the bell rang.
BOOM.
A wave of spiritual pressure swept across the city.
Ordinary cultivators collapsed immediately.
Golden Core cultivators staggered.
Nascent Soul cultivators barely remained standing.
The Soul Formation elders were forced to use their full strength just to remain upright.
Mo Yuxin and Su Yubing did not even move.
The pressure passed over them like a spring breeze.
The City Lord looked at them in disbelief.
Mo Yuxin quietly raised a hand.
A thin invisible barrier formed around Su Yubing.
"Are you alright?"
Su Yubing looked at her.
"I am fine."
"Good."
"You shielded me even though I did not need it."
"I know."
Su Yubing smiled.
"You really are impossible."
"I am your wife."
"That is not a defense."
"It is to me."
Even at a moment like this, Su Yubing could not help smiling.
The City Lord watched them and suddenly understood why the two women gave her such a strange feeling.
Their cultivation was not simply powerful.
Their hearts were extremely stable.
There was no fear.
No greed.
No hesitation.
And there was an intimacy between them that made their spiritual fluctuations almost impossible to separate.
They moved like two people who had already spent countless lifetimes together.
The bell rang again.
This time, the blue flames in the city formed seven massive symbols in the sky.
The symbols looked like doors.
One opened.
A huge black hand emerged from the sky.
The city guards attacked immediately.
Thousands of sword lights flew upward.
The hand crushed all of them.
The Soul Formation elders joined the battle.
The sky filled with spiritual explosions.
Mo Yuxin watched for several breaths.
Then she quietly asked Su Yubing, "Do you want me to help?"
Su Yubing considered it.
"Only enough to stop the city from being destroyed."
"Fine."
Mo Yuxin lifted one finger.
The black hand stopped.
Every cultivator in the city froze.
The hand trembled.
Then it slowly withdrew.
The seven symbols in the sky disappeared.
The ancient bronze bell stopped ringing.
Silence returned.
Mo Yuxin lowered her hand.
"Done."
The City Lord stared at her.
"What did you do?"
"Nothing much."
"You stopped it."
"Yes."
"How?"
Mo Yuxin thought about explaining.
Then she decided against it.
"It was annoying me."
The City Lord stared at her as though she had become completely unreasonable.
