Chapter 269: Protect

At Church Garden.

It was evening; the garden was quiet, and the only sound was leaves fluttering in the evening wind.

All the birds rested on the tree branch without making a sound; everything was quiet, then someone suddenly cursed loudly, and the birds were startled and flew out of the garden.

"Fuck, if it weren’t for that Coward or whatever he calls himself, I wouldn’t have to do this shameful work like washing toilets and cleaning some garden", Solarius cursed while cleaning the leaves with the broom in his hand.

Frustration was written all over his face; he had just completed all the written work, and now here he was, cleaning the fallen leaves when he could easily burn all of them without even damaging anything. Still, he couldn’t do that because if he did, it would be just defying the order of Light Saint.

Solarius just kept cleaning the garden with the wooden broom in his hand, and while he was doing so, a sudden gust of wind came and caused more leaves to fall off where Solarius had just cleaned. Solarius looked at the newly fallen leaves, his grip on the broom increasing due to frustration.

But he didn’t let the frustration take over; he was about to continue, but then he stopped when he heard a familiar, annoying voice.

"Hi, Brother, how is your punishment going? I hope everything is going well, and you will remember this mistake and not make some stupid mistake again" It was the voice of Colin, he said, slightly amused, and that amused tone made Solarius even more annoyed.

Then he looked toward Colin, who was smiling at him; seeing that smile, Solarius only felt the urge to burn it from his face until only his bones remained, as he did with Asher’s vessel.

"Why are you here again, to mock me?" Solarius said, his tone clearly annoyed.

Colin just flashed a smile again and then said, his expression turning confused, "Of course not, brother. I just came to tell you the meeting between the three Saints has ended, and they have decided what they’ll be doing. Also, your punishment has been cancelled by the father, so you don’t need to do this anymore."

As Solarius heard this, he burnt the whole wooden broom in his hand and was just about to leave the garden, but before he could.

Colin spoke again, his tone calm "Also, there is another order from the Father: you are now free from all the duties you had before, and I will be in charge of them instead."

As Solarius heard this, his steps came to a halt, and then he turned back towards Colin and said, "What do you mean by that?"

Colin also replied to Solarius, his tone still calm, "Just what I said? You have been removed from your position as Head Cardinal, and I have been assigned this position till the whole thing with that Coward settles. You have a new post now, of which you will be in charge from now on."

"What post are you talking about?"

Colin continued, "You have been ordered to protect the Saintness and her daughter."

Solarius looked confused at this and then said, his tone annoyed, "Why would I protect that bitch, and from whom does she even need to be protected? She is strong enough to protect herself, and even if she needs protection, she assigns someone else; there is no way I would protect her and act as her bodyguard. Find someone else for this."

After saying this, Solarius thought inwardly, ’Especially after what she did, how dare she tell Colin about me being beaten by Edward.’

And then Colin said, his tone a little commanding, "Brother, you have to do this, and this is the final decision, and you can’t do anything about it, so now just please get to work on it unless you want another punishment from Father".

Then Colin paused for a moment and said, "And Father seems to be in a bad mood, so you wouldn’t want to make him angry again. So do this without making things difficult for any of us."

Solarius heard this; though he didn’t want to do this, he had no other choice.

"Okay", Solarius agreed.

Colin said, "That’s good, brother, and I think you know what you have to do now to make sure everything is safe around her and her daughter. According to Father, she’ll be really important in killing that guy in the future, so there should be no shortcomings in this."

Solarius replied, his tone confident, "I need to change her location of stay and deploy only Grandmaster-rank guards to protect her and her daughter and also make sure no other person knows about their location where they are staying."

Since there was no way to tell whether a person was Asher Vessel or not, they deployed only Grandmaster-rank guards because Asher hasn’t reached the Grandmaster rank, so he doesn’t have a Grandmaster-rank vessel; they are the best option to make sure Asher can never reach Cassie and her daughter through his vessel.

Colin nodded and then said, "And also make sure to erase the memories of all the current servants who were in charge of taking care of her stay and her daughter."

"I know what I need to do; you don’t need to teach me that," Solarius said in an annoyed tone.

"I am sure you were planning to kill them instead of erasing their memories, but there is no need to do that, so don’t do that."

"Killing them would be better; there are many ways to find clues even if the memories are erased."

"Don’t kill them", Colin said in a firm tone, and then he left the garden, leaving Solarius alone there.

Solarius looked at the back of Colin as he disappeared from his view.

"Just wait, I will be sure to burn that smile from your face someday."

Then Solarius also left the garden to select the people who would be in charge of guarding Cassie and her daughter.
