Chapter 3051. Simple Battle and Telling Actions
Chapter 3051: 3051. Simple Battle and Telling Actions
"This is not a simple battle between two forces. This is a showcase of skills that everyone within your groups have been learning. New and old. Simple and complex. You have trained for months and invested your time to ensure you have the necessary abilities to lead, guard the people, and produce the sense of safety that all people must have regardless of race and standing."
Scylla was making the announcement. King Rorick had arrived with other subordinate generals. However, he had intentionally made the other generals remain at their posts and handle other tasks.
Scylla knew this was his way of ensuring that they would take a closer look at what their subordinates brought back to him when they met after they had received their reports. It was both a way of testing loyalty of their subordinates to them as generals and also his way of making sure that there were plenty of reasons for them to use their own knowledge to gain information about this event.
It was also a way for Scylla to present to the subordinates of other generals the points she was making clearly from a standpoint of her own power. It reinforced her strength and position despite the fact that she did not spend as much time within the demi-human territories.
Since she had been away, people conveniently forgot the important moments and experiences that many should remember.
Some related to her battle prowess being above many if not all of the other generals within the demi-human territories.
All this aside, the two sides in the coliseum were standing at the ready. The more mixed forces of different races who had become a solid and unified group from Genesis and the others were just demi-humans with varied traits who lived and trained within the demi-human territory only.
These two groups were different and that was already seen. The less unified armors because of the desire to specialize more in the Genesis guards and soldiers, was a very good example. The demon-human forces almost always had the same armor that would only be modified slightly to suit their specific positions.
But that was also one thing that Scylla wanted to be seen as a focus.
The healers that Alice had been in charge of lined the walls of the inner arena. They were also protected by other more experienced shield guards.
This was made as a way for them to focus on a more deadly appearance in their lives as professional healers.
They would be close enough to see injuries. Ton feels the vibration of metal on metal. To understand what happened to someone the instant that they came in to constant forms of danger.
They would also be protected and need to remain mindful of what was happening in front of them.
The guards with shields were also experienced veterans. They could easily defend them without any trouble whatsoever, but the healers were not told that they had these experienced shielders in front of them. They were told that they were of the same level as them and under orders to be a silent wall in front of them.
That stress was already showing in the ways that some healers were acting. They could tell that they might not be safe and that was making signs of training show.
It also showed signs of failure potential in some who had a need for more stress based training to remain calm.
A few stood out already analyzing the potential dangers that some would encounter. It was very impressive since Alice had expected a few that were already prepared for such things.
One younger healer standing out was a nun before making the decision to focus on healing magic when she discovered her affinity for light magic. She had been taught by Alice and Su at some point and that had left an impression that pushed her to learn more. Alice had become more than happy to know this, but even happier to see the calm look on the former nun’s face.
She was calm and was already directing the guard in front of her to stand a little more forward to open up line of sight while still being able to defend her. Such a small thing was missed by any of the other healers her age and her experience level.
A few more panicked healers had been called back in to line as they had begun to move toward the walls too much.
"Fight!"
Scylla could have said more words but she had decided that she would let the words be unspoken.
She knew that she could have encouraged them to show certain traits and to make this a friendly duel. But she didn’t want to be friendly. She wanted this to be a clean and clear cut example of what the guards with a more stubborn leadership and teaching format were missing.
She wanted them to understand that they had to adapt and move forward too. That if they did not start to accept the adaptation of new formats of training in various forms more openly and quickly within their leadership and also their younger recruits, that they would be further and further behind.
She knew that the demi-human race had the highest potential within every other race because of their numbers. It was why their agricultural practices took the world by storm and even with Genesis studying things, they were ahead of the curve.
They were even leading in that field within Genesis because they openly adapted more than they did for their guards and soldiers.
Therefore, they would see the changes here.
As the first thrown spear came at the demi-human side of the fight, the shield that blocked it was simple. However, the burst of mana that came out was something shocking.
The spear thrower was a specialized mid range class that had been brought in on the Genesis and allowed to train with arcane mages as they requested. It was a demi-human who had traits of a lizard from whatever species it was. Scylla had heard this written application and accepted it when she saw it.
She knew that the change had brought out several more arcane spear throwers which could cause a much greater diversity.
The burst of water mana suddenly froze, slowing the front shield line approaching and allowing for a charge from the others on the Genesis side.
There was also an easier time for the warhammer wielding shield breakings to get there and disrupt the defenses.
It had only been a few moments and there was a massive cut down in the fact that defenses could not be brought forward.
It was also because there was a lot more damage to be done to slower enemies who were under the sudden mana based attack from a seemingly simple spear.
The next attack came from an archer using arrows with blunted tips. They were made to unbalance another and cause more trouble for the movement of the main attackers. The hand held ground spearmen were stopped in this way breaking any potential retaliation from the demi-human side.
It was a wise move and also a specialized move since it was not normal to focus on the enemies in this way.
The Genesis forces were all about breaking the flow of the battle and keeping their advantage despite being on the event terrain of the callosum. It was an impressive show and one that has managed to make it clear of their advantage to King Rorick even though they had just begun.
Some of the Genesis forces began to cut off smaller groups of guards and began to fight them. They used rope skills and chained weapons to stop them while they also began to use their own light shielders to block potential attacks at the ones snaring them.
This technique was used against monsters but rarely against other people in wars or in the battle of the cities when criminals were fought. It was rough to counter but also easy to see that there was a risk here. This also showed the lack of other fighting techniques by inner guards for the cities compared to those who also had fought monsters by traveling to Genesis to train.
Scylla had approved of this form of battle because she saw that it held a lot of value. She also knew that the ones who used it had the experience in using it because they came from farming families. Those who dealt with dangerous cattle and had the chances to be killed in their daily lives.
The battle kept going more and more, keeping many more of them from moving until there wasn’t even a single injured man on the demi-human side. It was a wonder that they even had a chance to fight in the first place. Those who expected the battle to go another way lay stunned. They had no idea what had happened or even changed in these soldiers and guards.
