Chapter 3021: 3021. Growth All around

"That is pretty amazing Onyx. I know I said that three times now, but it is very amazing that this little one has not been able to speak yet and use skills of any kind to communicate but is literally using the shadows to craft things."

This was in fact that this time that Walker had said it out loud, and that only went to make Onyx even more proud that he had come back here and begun to introduce Walker to some of the promising young serpents recently hatched and explored.

He’d wanted to help them with the rune formations that could strengthen the hatchlings in their eggs and also in their infancy, but there were always some outliers within any generation of any race.

Those that stood out as stronger or more skills.

Sometimes others appeared weaker, but just had yet to realize their true talents. Some people would take a long time to find their thing or their niche.

Then again, some people were all rounders, Walker still considered himself one despite his high focus on magic as a whole now.

That didn’t mean he lacked other skills and abilities. He just needed to focus on what the people needed most and what made him capable of growing Genesis as a whole for the sake of the people.

Regardless, he was entranced by this little serpent who seemed to absorb crafting knowledge like he was a sponge.

"When he was born, his parents, one of the older serpents that punished their growth to be one of those that led our race was learning about crafting and how to achieve crafting without arms and legs and fingers." Onyx was sure that this has been a challenge many people realized for them without saying.

They were a sermentine race. One that did not have the boon of arms and legs let alone hands and fingers. Dexterity had to come from somewhere else for them.

Therefore, those with control over light and dark mana had begun to create methods of crafting using shaped shadows or shaped manas. It had been going well too.

There were also some crafters within their race who utilized the very same manas to craft by forcing certain magical attacks in different directions. Some even figured out how to make dark mana influence other manas and cause heat or cooling. It was very impressive and also brought many crafters to work with them when they ventured to and from Genesis.

Where things went differently with this little serpent was the silence.

Many of Onyx’s race were capable of speaking within the mind as he had developed right away within a couple days after birth. This was because he had established it as a skill that their race needed the most. Along with this, it had been a focus for many to learn right away since they could not easily travel without such things.

Also because of this skill the younger serpents gained basic knowledge rapidly. This further allowed them to understand the state of the world and many other aspects of it. Pushing them to be able to develop in their own desired direction much faster.

This was why this young serpent easily began to gather the knowledge about forging. But that also made it clear that the silence in not speaking to others, including their own parents might be a choice. Even with Walker right here beside Onyx, they did not speak or respond. Just looked at them and showed the shape of their shadow becoming an ax to cut pieces of willow tree to make a longer spear handle.

The shadow was not just in one tool though, it had become a small carving knife, a thin braising tool for rope, and even what seemed to be a rough surface for sanding something smoother instead of sand itself.

This just showed the innate talent of shaping shadows was incredibly high. Onyx and Walker both also sensed that this little serpent did not have as strong an affinity to use light mana. Maybe because it focused entirely on shadows shaped in to tools rather than developing them out of just dark mana and just light mana.

The pile of spears that it had made were similar to those that crafters made when they were training to make basic weapons that could be approved of by a main crafter. Enough in quantity to show training, but not enough that they would be called some amazing weapon that would break the market if sold.

"I want this little one to stay here, but I believe that would limit them too much."

"I have to agree with you Onyx. their skill is greater because they saw the attempts happening around them by their parents. I believe that if they are brought to the center of the crafting guild you will be bragging about a genius sooner than later." Walker did not dwell on the fact that new and amazing crafters popped up every day.

The way that Genesis grew was because of the advancements in building and expanding.

"This is not the only one Brother. There are several young ones who have begun to ask about history, record keeping, teaching, and one that is asking to explore the wilderness. Many are pursuing their goals faster than I imagined and I believe that is the density of mana here changing." Onycx was right again.

"I spoke about that with others. Many changes in the world are because of better mana flow. Purer mana flow. The world was missing it and now every race is advancing rapidly to catch up to how things should be. Onyx, you are seeing it closer because your race was smaller and is expanding faster as if to make up lost time. This little shadow crafter is just an example of that." ℯ

"True shadow crafter."

The words echoed through both of their minds as the gray eyes of the little serpent looked at Walker and Onyx before flicking back toward their task.

"Then true shadow crafter it is. I expect to hear great things about you and your path as a true shadow crafter. If you need anything, tell them that Walker wants you to meet other unique crafters and that he sent you to meet the wandering blacksmith and a friend named Rodney who has been part of the crafting guild before it was the crafting guild."

Onyx rose out of the shadow taking his full form and used light mana to move in to the air. Not because he was leaving, but because he was going to leave the younger serpent to work as they wished. But he also wanted to look down at the growing territory and enjoy the feeling of how grand his people would be later with their hard work.

Walker followed while they both enjoyed the knowledge that they could help encourage even more growth while planning to adjust rune formations and create the hatching grounds as Onyx wished them to be.

"Can you not hover around like that and make sure that those three have brought my work to the right people. I don’t want to hear that anyone is doing it wrong-"

"Yes yes yes, you already know they are doing it right. But if it makes you settle down I will go check." Gil dashed out of the room giving Walker’s golem body a wave to watch over Alma for him.

This had become the deal while Gil ensured that everyone was working well as Alma rested. She was clearly fine but with the instance of caregivers that rest was what her body needed to grow a literal child within her, she had given in.

It just took constant reinforcement to make sure she stayed that way. A bit of Alma cared and that would not change no matter what people said or did.

"Walker, can you make sure that I am still good? Appraise me?"

"This is the fifteenth time you have asked Alma. You only ask when everyone else is out because you are worried they will worry. I told you, you are doing great and have the best care. I can vouch for that and you know I wouldn’t lie. Also, the other elf women of all affinities not to mention high elf blood or not are having similar situations. Your race is growing and that is great."

He reassured her, but then she grew more serious again. "Then can you check how dark and earth elves are doing underground with the dwarves? I wasn’t able to check on the new home built there. They are using mushrooms to grow some small homes now. I want to make sure they are safe."

"Now that, I can do for you. I wanted to look at those too. I heard that they are similar to the three houses but the dark and earth elves grew them in smaller varieties. Just give me a few hours and a promise you will stay here with that book of yours." Walker saw her nod in promise before heading off too. A few guards approaching with orders from him to remain there no matter what.
