Marvel: Reincarnated as Superman
Chapter 85: Some Things Never Change
Chapter 85: Chapter 85: Some Things Never Change
"You little brat! I’ve wanted to beat you up for years!"
Carol’s confidence had skyrocketed, as the immense power surging through her body made her feel absolutely invincible. So, without giving Daniel any time to react, she grabbed him and shot straight out of Earth’s atmosphere.
Daniel blinked in confusion.
"...What just happened?"
He was still trying to process everything. A second ago, Carol had suddenly exploded with power... and now she’d dragged him all the way into space.
’How did she suddenly become this strong?’
Daniel was genuinely baffled.
The Ancient One had only said a few sentences. Carol had started glowing and then she’d hauled him off Earth. Did that whole process even take more than a second?
’Seriously?’
’I was just making fun of her a minute ago, saying all that glowing looked impressive but wasn’t actually useful... and now I’ve been proven wrong and slapped across the face by reality?’
Daniel found it completely absurd. He had spent more than ten years absorbing sunlight before reaching his current level of strength.
Meanwhile, Carol had simply received a few pointers from the Ancient One and suddenly became this powerful?
It didn’t make any sense, and it was way too ridiculous.
...
The siblings floated silently in space, about a dozen meters apart.
"Let’s fight!"
Carol raised a hand and mouthed the words. There was no sound in the vacuum of space, but Daniel understood her perfectly.
Now that Carol had regained her memories and awakened even greater power, the first thing she wanted to do after opening her eyes was... fight Daniel.
She had completely forgotten about the Skrull back at the cafe, and today, no matter what happened, she was getting her revenge.
She still remembered every time she’d challenged Daniel when they were younger, and every single fight had ended the same way.
Daniel remained perfectly fine, meanwhile, her fists swelled up from punching him.
She also remembered Daniel constantly calling her a weakling, and he’d even said it again just now.
With Carol’s hot-headed personality, there was no way she would let that go. This was finally her chance to pay him back, and today she was going to settle the score.
Daniel looked at her smug expression and simply beckoned with one finger.
"Bring it on."
"Who’s afraid of who?"
To him, Carol finally looked durable enough to survive a proper sparring session. This was perfect, as he’d been looking for someone strong enough to train with.
Today, Daniel was going to remind her that if she hadn’t been lucky enough to be born three years before him, she’d just be his little sister.
...
While the siblings silently exchanged challenges in space, the Ancient One casually opened a Mirror Dimension nearby. Inside, she leisurely made herself a cup of tea, then she sat down comfortably, ready to enjoy the show.
This was going to be entertaining, as the family violence was about to begin.
...
Carol raised one hand.
"Three..."
"Two..."
"One."
Her fingers slowly curled into a fist, and the instant they closed, the two disappeared simultaneously. Their speed had already exceeded what even Earth’s most advanced high-speed cameras could capture.
An instant later, they collided, their fists slamming together.
Daniel just smiled.
"Not bad."
Everything happened within a fraction of a second, and only these two monsters could even react to exchanges happening this quickly.
After the first exchange, they drifted apart once more.
Carol’s eyes lit up with excitement. Her hand... it didn’t hurt at all. The tremendous cosmic energy surrounding her body had completely protected her fists, and there wasn’t even the slightest sting.
This time, her hands weren’t going to swell, so her confidence grew even more.
’I’m definitely getting my revenge today!’
Without hesitation, she rushed towards Daniel again. The two immediately began exchanging punch after punch and kick after kick.
At first, Daniel deliberately held back. He was afraid of accidentally hurting her, but after seeing Carol completely unharmed, he became excited too.
No one had ever been able to even withstand one of his restrained punches, now Carol could.
’Just wonderful.’
’I finally have a punching bag.’
After exchanging tens of thousands of blows, Daniel finally stopped holding back. Though not completely, he only used about thirty percent of his strength.
Although Carol was still physically weaker than Daniel, she wasn’t getting hurt. Every time Daniel knocked her flying, she’d immediately rush back and continue fighting.
The two moved so quickly that within moments... their battlefield had shifted millions of miles away from Earth.
It was as though the entire Solar System had become their battle arena. Countless asteroids shattered beneath their fists and the fragments flew in every direction.
Entire asteroid belts, one after another, were torn apart by the force of their collision.
For a while, neither side could completely overwhelm the other, and no one knew how many punches or kicks they’d exchanged.
Eventually, they grabbed hold of each other while struggling and crashed straight into Venus.
Boom!
The impact blasted an enormous crater into the planet’s surface.
Still, they didn’t stop. Daniel threw a punch that launched Carol several miles away. She just immediately flew back and rammed into him.
The fight continued deep within Venus’s volcanic regions. Lava erupted everywhere and one volcanic eruption triggered another.
Soon, the entire planet was shaking, even the endless perpetual storms raging through Venus’s atmosphere were blown apart by the shockwaves. The skies filled with dust and ash, still neither one stopped.
Daniel was having the time of his life, and Carol felt even better, as she was becoming more comfortable with her power by the second.
After all, this was the first day she’d truly realized just how powerful she really was. Back on Hala, she’d mostly relied on firing photon energy blasts, so she’d never experienced the thrill of a close quarters combat like this.
Now, they had already fought across nearly half the Solar System.
As the battle continued, Carol’s control over her cosmic energy improved rapidly. Her movements became smoother, her speed increased, and her strength continued growing.
The energy within her body felt endless and she unleashed it without restraint.
Soon they blasted off Venus and returned to space. Far beyond what the naked eye could see.
One golden white streak and one glowing golden orange streak collided again and again.
Within just a few seconds, they had already exchanged more than hundred thousand blows.
Daniel couldn’t help grinning. This felt incredible, no one had ever been able to spar with him like this before.
Carol barely qualified now... but she still qualified.
The battle had already lasted nearly an hour. Carol had been blasted away countless times.
Every impact shattered another field of asteroids, yet she always came charging back. The fight continued as the stamina of both siblings was completely monstrous.
Another asteroid belt exploded into rubble. Then...
Boom!
There was no sound in space, yet Carol somehow felt the impact echo through her mind. It felt as though an enormous shock echoed across the Solar System.
Daniel’s fist slammed directly into her face and just like that she just shot across space like a meteor.
Seconds later, she crashed onto Mercury.
The collision shattered huge sections of the planet’s crust. Chunks of Mercury were blasted into space, destined to drift endlessly through the Solar System.
Mercury was already the smallest planet, and now, it had become even smaller.
Daniel floated proudly above her, looking down, he wore a triumphant smile Honestly, he was extremely satisfied because Carol made a fantastic punching bag.
A smug grin spread across his face as he rubbed beneath his nose with one finger before beckoning confidently.
’Come on.’
’Let’s keep going.’
Carol refused to accept defeat and immediately rushed back into battle, causing Mercury’s already crater-covered surface to become even more battered.
Daniel pummeled her relentlessly until the planet’s surface became nothing but craters. Thanks to the immense cosmic energy protecting her body, she wasn’t physically injured.
But emotionally... she suffered a critical hit.
’I still can’t beat my stupid brother...’
Carol felt completely discouraged. Daniel had thoroughly crushed all the confidence she’d gained earlier. Once again, she felt like the same weak person he’d always teased.
But the real victim wasn’t either of them, it was Mercury.
It was the one who was truly suffering, because if they kept this up much longer, the planet itself was going to fall apart. Realizing that, both of them flew back into space.
Out in the vacuum, Carol was still the one getting beaten up. It didn’t actually hurt her, but it was just... incredibly embarrassing and humiliating.
Finally, she stopped fighting, and Daniel looked at her expectantly.
’Come on.’
’Keep going.’
Carol simply waved both hands, signaling that she was done. Being kicked around like a soccer ball wasn’t fun anymore.
She suddenly felt like she’d never get her revenge, and her head drooped in defeat as she looked utterly dejected.
Daniel flew over and patted her shoulder. With exaggerated lip movements, he said.
"Stand proud you’re strong."
Daniel looked unbearably pleased with himself.
’Being invincible is kind of lonely.’
...
The two were now hovering near the surface of the Sun. Looking at Daniel’s smug expression, Carol became more and more irritated.
Daniel gestured.
"Let’s head back."
Then he turned around and started flying towards Earth.
Seeing that he had completely let his guard down, Carol suddenly gathered every ounce of strength she had.
She swung her fist straight at the back of his head. She knew she couldn’t actually hurt him, but she figured, she could at least knock him dizzy for a moment.
The instant Daniel staggered, she wrapped both arms around him. Then, with all her strength, she threw him straight into the Sun.
"I’ve wanted to do that forever!"
Watching Daniel tumble headfirst into the blazing Sun, Carol instantly cheered up.
’I finally got my revenge!’
’I’m so happy!’
Feeling completely satisfied, she simply floated there and waited for Daniel to fly back out.
After all, the Sun posed no real threat to Daniel, so this was nothing more than a harmless prank.
...
Not far away.
Inside the Mirror Dimension.
The Ancient One calmly finished her tea.
’Now that was an incredibly satisfying cup of tea.’
She couldn’t help smiling.
Someone had been talking back to her for years.
Whenever he needed her help, she was the dignified Sorcerer Supreme, and whenever he didn’t... she suddenly became "that old woman."
Well, now he’d been tossed into the Sun. It was much refreshing for her to see him getting a proper lesson.
Stretching lazily, the Ancient One opened another portal back to Kamar-Taj.
’I drank a little too much tea.’
’Time to head back and use the bathroom.’
She smiled to herself, at the same time, she quietly dispelled the tiny spell she’d cast earlier.
It had only been a simple enchantment, one that made people feel drowsy and lowered their alertness.
So, she needed to leave quickly now, because once Daniel crawled back out of the Sun and realized what had happened, he’d definitely come looking for revenge.
