Chapter 131: Hyperdimensional Transformation Ability

"Lucy?"

"What?"

Hearing an unfamiliar name suddenly come out of Orion Cross’s mouth, Mystique Raven looked at him in confusion.

"I mean, the person you actually transformed into is named Lucy."

Orion Cross grabbed Raven’s wrist and looked into her eyes. "Don’t try turning into her again unless you want to become an abstract existence."

The "telepathy and control ability like Charles" that Raven had described did not reveal much on its own. After all, psychic abilities were not enough to determine the truth.

But the part afterward, where she said her "cells seemed to have gained consciousness and wanted to leave her body," was extremely obvious.

In Lucy, the protagonist, Lucy, had a special drug enter her body by accident after it broke open, causing her to continuously "evolve."

By the final stage, she had even become an omnipotent, omnipresent "god."

But because of that, she no longer had a physical body and became an abstract existence similar to Eternity, Infinity, or Death.

And so-called "omnipresence," to most people, was equivalent to disappearing, to no longer existing.

"I understand, but..."

Raven roughly understood what Orion Cross meant, but she fell into hesitation. "Does that mean I won’t be able to use my ability freely in the future? Otherwise, what if another accident happens..."

"Don’t worry. Let’s first test the special trigger rules of your ability."

Orion Cross patted Raven on the shoulder, then took out his phone, flipped through the photo album, and found a picture. "Turn into her appearance, with blond hair."

"I’ll try."

Raven looked at the photo on Orion Cross’s phone and carefully activated her ability.

"Do you feel anything different? Did you gain any ability?"

Orion Cross looked at Raven, who had transformed into "Gabriel," and asked.

"No."

Raven tried waving her arm and found that nothing happened.

"Nothing?"

Orion Cross frowned, held Raven’s hand, and said again, "Try turning into Steve Rogers."

"You mean that captain Susan said looked a lot like her brother?"

Raven was slightly stunned, feeling as if she understood Orion Cross’s guess.

Her figure changed, and Raven transformed into "Steve." But in the next second, intense flames burst from her body.

Orion Cross’s quilt and bedsheets were instantly burned to ash, though the bed itself still had its frame left.

"Next time you transform, try to control it a little."

Orion Cross controlled a stream of water and extinguished the fire in the room, speaking helplessly.

"This... this is also a mutant ability?"

Raven’s entire body was on fire. Panicking, she quickly canceled the transformation.

However, she was no longer the blue-skinned, scaled Mystique who did not need to wear clothes.

The flames had burned her clothes completely clean. Naturally, when she returned to her original form, she had nothing left.

"You two really have interesting abilities. Both of you can go without clothes."

Orion Cross looked her up and down with an appreciative gaze and said.

The other person he was referring to was naturally Mystique’s current partner, the Invisible Woman, Susan.

"So what was that ability just now? Susan’s brother’s superpower?"

Raven walked to Orion Cross’s wardrobe, opened the wooden door that had been burned into black charcoal, took out a relatively intact shirt from inside, draped it over herself, and turned back to ask.

"You’d better not tell Susan what I’m about to say."

Orion Cross’s expression suddenly became serious.

"I understand."

Raven also sat down solemnly on the damaged bed, though her current outfit did not quite match the word "solemn."

"This is only my guess. When you transform into a certain person, you choose a similar person from another dimension who has already died and obtain their ability."

Orion Cross looked into Raven’s eyes and explained seriously.

"Already died? Then..."

Raven’s brows tightened slightly, and her hand trembled a little.

"If Susan has told you about it, then you should know she once joined a space adventure with several people, including her younger brother."

"If I’m not wrong, she came to this world, while over there, an accident may have happened."

This was Orion Cross’s rational analysis. He was not even bringing up anything like the butterfly effect.

The Fantastic Four, who should have advanced and retreated together with coordinated offense and defense, had lost one member from the very beginning. In that case, it was not impossible for them to fall apart completely.

Once the Invisible Woman’s ability developed, it would become like telekinesis, an invisible force field capable of defending against attacks.

If the reason they had originally survived was because of the protection of an invisible force field while unconscious, then without it now, everyone might have died.

As for why Orion Cross was certain it had to be "someone already dead," it was naturally because they had tried another person before.

The Ancient One and Gabriel.

Gabriel had not died in Constantine, so when Raven transformed into her, there was no effect at all.

"Her brother really died?"

Raven looked utterly incredulous.

After working together and spending time together in private for a while, plus the fact that their abilities were somewhat similar in a certain sense.

In Orion Cross’s words, neither of them needed to wear clothes.

The two of them had already become good friends, and they had told each other about their pasts.

If Susan still had any attachment to her original world, it was definitely her troublesome younger brother.

But now...

"You know this. The other end of her world’s coordinates is in space, so I can’t take her back. You shouldn’t tell her this news either."

Orion Cross nodded, then revealed a smile. "Besides, my guess isn’t necessarily correct."

"I hope so."

Raven lowered her head and sighed, then got up and walked to the bedroom door. "I’ll go borrow some clothes from Skye. I’ll be right back."

"Borrow clothes from me?"

"You... why do you look like that? What did you go do?"

Skye opened the door and stared blankly at Raven, who was wearing only a torn shirt.

"Didn’t you hear the commotion next door just now?"

Raven frowned slightly and asked back.

The sound of the flames burning just now should not have been small. Orion Cross’s bedroom had nearly been burned clean, yet Skye had not heard it?

"I was wearing headphones while running just now... Wait! Next door!"

Skye looked at Raven in shock, seemingly thinking of something else.

Wasn’t Orion Cross’s bedroom next door?

Was she asking because she knew Skye had not heard anything? Was this some kind of provocation?

What should she do now?
