Marvel: A Lazy-Ass Superman
Chapter 831: The Deaths of the Stryker Father and Son
Chapter 831: Chapter 831: The Deaths of the Stryker Father and Son
Considering that this was a damn Marvel crossover universe rather than any normal world, Wild Boar was thoughtful enough to pull a specially prepared white phosphorus round from his ammunition pouch and smash it into Mastermind’s remains!
Bright yellow-white flames instantly engulfed Mastermind’s body, burning him until not even his bone marrow remained. If someone could still extract DNA from this mess and use cloning technology to resurrect Mastermind, then... well, he’d just have to accept it.
Thinking about the brain matter still stuck to the armor’s palm, Wild Boar simply thrust his hand into the white phosphorus flames.
The high-temperature fire, supposedly capable of burning through metal, failed to penetrate armor protected by Isu energy technology. However, the armor’s energy was visibly declining, showing that the flames were indeed inflicting damage.
The homemade white phosphorus rounds contained only a small amount of gelatin, so they weren’t particularly adhesive. After confirming that all the residue on his hand had burned away, Wild Boar simply flicked his hand and shook off the burning flames.
If Mastermind had been capable of rolling around on the floor, perhaps he might have been able to escape the bone-eating white phosphorus flames as well.
Thanks to his father’s assistance, this troublesome target had been killed beyond any possibility of returning.
Having dealt with one target, Wild Boar naturally turned his attention to the next.
William Stryker certainly lived up to his experience in the Vietnam War, his long career on the battlefield, and his eventual promotion to colonel.
After taking the flashbang head-on, William Stryker was the first person to regain the ability to move.
His attempt at self-preservation, however, consisted of desperately crawling forward. He couldn’t even stand, and his entire sense of balance was still completely disrupted.
Who knew whether he was trying to find a weapon or crawl over to Professor X? Perhaps he wanted to take him hostage, or perhaps he wanted to beg Professor X for mercy.
Whatever his intention, William Stryker desperately crawled onward, believing that doing so might still give him a chance to survive.
Wild Boar armor, having just set someone ablaze, silently walked toward William Stryker step by step, his killing intent obvious.
Having taken a flashbang, Professor X, who had previously been knocked unconscious, had also regained consciousness.
The effects of the flashbang were still lingering, but even so, when he saw the armor approaching, he still tried to protect William Stryker.
"Wait. Don’t hurt him..."
Wild Boar armor flipped the crawling U.S. colonel onto his back.
Then, with brutal cruelty, he plunged his hand into the man’s abdominal cavity and ripped it open in every direction, pulling out his organs one by one and hurling them carelessly in all directions.
His movements were so fast that they resembled a yellow dog frantically digging through dirt.
Even with the flashbang’s effects still lingering, the pain made William Stryker scream with all his strength.
No matter how horrible the screams were, Wild Boar didn’t stop.
Once everything inside the abdomen had been removed, he reached into the diaphragm and continued pulling out the heart and lungs, tossing them aside!
He had always been afraid of hunger. Yet this bastard had allowed his own son to trap him inside an illusionary world.
During the time he had been captured and held in the mutant laboratory, hunger had been even more unbearable than the various inhumane experiments.
Mastermind had merely been a tool.
Wild Boar knew perfectly well who the true mastermind was.
No amount of excuses could be a reason for him to let William Stryker go.
What he was doing was less revenge than an outlet for his rage.
Everything was naturally visible to the three long-lived beings watching through Aetos armor’s visual feed.
In fact, when they saw Wild Boar use a white phosphorus round to dispose of the corpse, they had already wanted to say something and persuade him to stop.
But after seeing how he was treating a living person, they felt that trying to persuade him would be pointless.
Stryker and his son had been the people Henry had specifically named as his targets from the beginning.
But none of them had expected his hatred to run this deep.
While his organs were being ripped out, William Stryker did not die immediately.
Just as someone who had been cut in half could remain alive for some time, the U.S. colonel thoroughly experienced the agony inflicted by Wild Boar armor.
Until the moment he died, he never knew how he had managed to provoke this harbinger of death.
He had killed countless people on the battlefield.
After leaving the battlefield, many mutants had also died at his hands.
He had always known that this day would come sooner or later. He had been mentally prepared for it.
But he had never imagined that his death would be this brutal.
The greatest regret was that he had been only one step away from using the modified brainwave amplifier to kill every mutant in the world.
At the very end, William Stryker no longer had the strength to scream.
His eyes bulged as he glared viciously at the "person" who had taken his life.
Wild Boar armor once again drew the kukri from the storage compartment on his thigh.
With a single slash, he cut off William Stryker’s head!
Of course, he had no intention of treating the head as a trophy and hanging it on the wall of his secret base.
Wild Boar simply crushed another brain, ensuring that even if someone found William Stryker’s corpse, they wouldn’t be able to recover the secrets stored inside his mind.
This was merely a precaution taken against the possibility of some unknown black technology being capable of doing such a thing.
If the enemy used magic, however, there wasn’t much Wild Boar could do about it.
He casually smashed a large hole through the back of the skull and turned the brain inside into a lump of mush.
After tossing William Stryker’s head aside, Wild Boar no longer paid him any attention.
The reason he hadn’t burned the entire body away as he had done with his son Jason Stryker, or Mastermind, was so that the U.S. military would have evidence confirming William Stryker’s death.
Besides being revenge, this could also be regarded as a warning.
As for whom the warning was directed at and what exactly it meant, others could speculate for themselves.
In other words, it was a smokescreen meant to confuse the trail and prevent anyone from immediately tracing everything back to Henry Brown.
The deed was done.
Now it was time to think about cleaning up.
Meanwhile, Professor X was struggling to turn his wheelchair around so he could face the man whose mind he couldn’t read.
His head kept tilting backward.
"Wait. Who are you?"
Wild Boar raised a hand and fired an anesthetic dart directly into Professor X.
The world was peaceful once again.
Pretty nice.
Especially since he hadn’t felt any sign of his brain being invaded, which meant the anti-telepathy function built into his homemade helmet had worked to some extent.
Ignoring the other people lying on the floor, whether pretending to be dead or genuinely still unable to stand because of the lingering effects of the flashbang, Wild Boar walked out of the spherical brainwave amplifier chamber.
"The matter is settled. Are we leaving?" Cassandra asked over the internal communications channel.
"No. You don’t enter a treasure mountain and leave empty-handed. It’s time to start looting."
"Uh... is that your real objective?" Cassandra asked suspiciously, clearly displeased by the possibility that the Kryptonian’s original motives had been impure.
Wild Boar, his tone relaxed again, seriously explained.
"Of course not. Stryker and his son were the real targets. That hasn’t changed.
"But now that the matter has finally been settled, I don’t want to leave behind any clues that could allow someone to track me down.
"The best thing to do is find a way to make people misunderstand my true objective. That way, they might investigate in the wrong direction and reach the wrong conclusion.
"Besides, this base exists for research. Whether it’s research data or raw materials for various things, there should be plenty of valuable stuff here.
"We might as well take it all and make a little contribution to the household budget.
"And a lot of the materials here are restricted military supplies. You can’t even buy them on the open market. If I don’t take some while I have the chance, I’ll have to go to the black market later and let someone rip me off.
"Should I commission Alexei like last time? He’d just go rob the place himself anyway. In terms of the method, I don’t think my sins become any lighter just because I didn’t personally do the robbing."
Cassandra was rendered speechless by Wild Boar’s argument and could more or less be considered convinced.
Besides, defeating the enemy and taking some spoils of war was perfectly normal.
Had she never taken loot before?
No.
