Chapter 773: Chapter 773: Man and Tiger Join Forces
"I’m curious. Can your bulletproof body withstand a fall from this height? Shall we find out? Hahaha."
Hearing the madness in the Green Goblin’s voice, Henry shot back, "You’d better pray this actually kills me."
"And if it doesn’t? I’m curious what you’ll do. Even if you can’t be killed, are the people around you just as bulletproof? That washed-up old movie star? Or that mysterious little girl whose origins nobody knows? Surely you wouldn’t be upset over a tiger."
Heh. Wonderful.
His cleared-out to-do list could now add a billionaire to it.
Perhaps he should take this opportunity, while nobody knew the Green Goblin’s true identity, to test whether someone enhanced by the Green Goblin serum could walk out alive after being thrown into a stellar furnace that had been burning for 4.6 billion years.
Perhaps Henry’s expression suddenly becoming so cold was a little frightening. Or perhaps the flying glider had already reached its maximum altitude.
The Green Goblin flipped over, changing from carrying Henry upward on its prongs to descending.
But he didn’t dive down and make a suicidal attack, taking Henry along to kiss the Earth.
Instead, he simply hovered in midair, laughing as he watched a man with a steel body plummet toward the ground.
Henry seriously considered where he’d been launched into the air. There were other witnesses around, not just Catherine Hepburn and Skye.
And at this altitude, they weren’t yet high enough to disappear from sight from the ground.
If he dragged this guy out of the atmosphere, people would notice, wouldn’t they?
This wasn’t an age when everyone had a cellphone capable of recording video at any moment, but Henry still didn’t want to gamble on whether one of the witnesses possessed some means of recording evidence.
In the end, Henry’s retaliation against the Green Goblin consisted of nothing more than raising one majestic middle finger.
When he slammed into the ground, he not only kicked up a cloud of dust but also cratered the earth.
Henry, naturally, was completely unharmed.
All he heard were screams erupting from the surrounding crowd.
He’d originally intended to play dead, but the Green Goblin in the air looked as though he planned to come down for another attack—or at least confirm Henry’s condition.
Meanwhile, Skye and Catherine Hepburn were also approaching from farther away.
Henry quickly climbed out of the crater and stopped the old woman and girl from coming over.
"Don’t come here! It’s dangerous!"
The moment he finished speaking, two small missiles fired from the Green Goblin’s flying glider and precisely struck the man in the crater.
Great.
This guy really wasn’t going to stop.
If Henry continued refusing to fight back, putting aside whether he’d look pathetic, sooner or later innocent people would get hurt.
And of all places, this was happening in public.
What a damn good opportunity this lunatic had picked.
Moreover, the Green Goblin seemed to have anticipated that such an attack wouldn’t hurt Henry. In Henry’s super-hearing, the flying glider was already speeding toward him, even though the flames from the explosion hadn’t yet dissipated.
Faced with the choice between exposing his abilities and continuing to take a beating, Henry came up with a third option.
A high-frequency command sounded.
At the same time, Henry concealed himself within the flames of the explosion, using them to obscure the Green Goblin’s armor sensors as much as possible, assuming the armor had technology beyond ordinary visual detection.
Although the explosives produced little smoke, the dust kicked up from the ground still obscured part of the Green Goblin’s vision.
As the flames faded and he could barely make out his target’s silhouette, the Green Goblin once again controlled the flying glider and rammed straight into Henry.
But this time, Henry wasn’t sent flying.
For one thing, the Green Goblin had launched the attack in a dive. Pulling up sharply wasn’t easy.
For another, Henry exerted just enough strength to keep the Green Goblin from escaping.
He was creating an opportunity for the tabby cat silently pouncing in from the side.
It wasn’t biting innocent people or some thug who had deliberately provoked it.
This guy was masked and might not even be human, for all Kitty knew.
Did she really need to hesitate?
At worst, Henry just wouldn’t be able to take the tiger out for walks afterward!
During the winter in Alaska, Henry had already trained Kitty in attacking.
For this big cat, there was nothing it wouldn’t dare bite.
Even when facing a Kryptonian two-legged creature, if sufficiently provoked, Kitty would still dare to take a bite.
So would she be afraid of some stranger she’d never seen before?
The tiger launched itself forward.
Its enormous jaws clamped down on the Green Goblin’s exposed elbow, which had been extended outward to maintain balance during flight.
The Green Goblin let out a scream.
Henry immediately knew that the guy had underestimated both a tiger’s bite force and the protective strength of his armor.
The composite armor couldn’t withstand Kitty’s teeth at all.
Only pure metal armor, thick enough to extend beyond the tiger’s fangs, or armor whose hardness had been dramatically increased, might be able to withstand that mouthful of teeth.
But Kitty didn’t simply bite down and refuse to let go.
Henry’s training wasn’t based on predation—biting prey and then exhausting it until it died so it couldn’t escape.
What Henry had taught Kitty was killing.
That was also why he wasn’t comfortable letting this "tabby cat" out of his sight around a group of strangers.
The huge cat that had bitten the Green Goblin immediately swung its massive body around its head as the axis.
A six-hundred-plus-pound tiger suspended in midair generated tremendous centrifugal force.
The flying glider couldn’t withstand it.
It immediately began spinning, plummeting toward the ground like an out-of-control helicopter.
At the very last moment before impact, Kitty released its bite and flung its prey away.
The armor around the Green Goblin’s elbow had been mangled by the tiger’s teeth and was almost torn off completely.
"Good job, Kitty!"
Whether the controller had regained control of his body or the flying glider itself had some kind of emergency function, the Green Goblin didn’t simply lie on the ground groaning in agony.
Instead, he used an awkward posture to regain altitude.
He looked like a puppet with its strings cut, desperately trying to correct his position.
After finally circling around and recovering a stable flight posture, the Green Goblin came toward Henry and Kitty again.
The injury to his arm was nowhere near as severe as the Kryptonian had imagined.
The Green Goblin serum had greatly increased the toughness of his bodily tissues. Moreover, the damaged armor had absorbed most of the bite’s force, leaving relatively little actual damage to his arm.
Since the Green Goblin still wanted to fight, how could Henry refuse?
He used his body as a shield and ran ahead.
Whether it was the machine gun mounted on the flying glider spewing bullets or a barrage of small missiles, Henry simply took every attack head-on.
Kitty followed behind him, avoiding the attacks from the heavy weapons.
Once the man and tiger got close enough to the Green Goblin, Henry suddenly stopped.
He lowered his head and hunched his back, turning himself into a launching platform for Kitty.
The tiger stepped onto him and launched itself upward again, pouncing toward the Green Goblin, who thought he was safely out of reach.
This time, the tiger’s jaws went straight for the Green Goblin’s head.
Using the damage to his arm armor as a reference, the Green Goblin obviously wasn’t willing to gamble that his helmet could withstand tiger teeth.
So at the last moment, he pulled upward.
At the same time, the sharp prongs at the front of the flying glider stabbed toward the tiger’s soft abdomen.
Such a small movement was easy for the super-speed Kryptonian to see and interpret.
Another high-frequency command sounded.
Kitty transformed its pounce into a somersault with agility that would have been unimaginable to an ordinary observer.
Its entire body curled into a furry cannonball.
Spinning through the air, the tiger slammed directly into the Green Goblin.
The Green Goblin, struck by a six-hundred-pound tiger projectile, was knocked clean off the flying glider.
Man and machine separated.
Henry was just about to order Kitty to press the advantage when an unexpected ally stole the opportunity.
Spider-Man first wrapped the Green Goblin in webbing without bothering with the now-unmanned flying glider.
Then he came over to the man and tiger and asked,
"Are you two all right, sir?"
