Chapter 6531: Ambition Revealed?

Ignorant of the truth, Cang Li flitted up to the formation and grabbed a Seven Realms Sacred Mansion’s Heavenly Dragon World Spiritist. “Free our juniors right now!”

“I-I can’t do it. We’re not the ones controlling the formation. Our Mansion Master is the one controlling the formation!” the Heavenly Dragon World Spiritist blurted out. This confirmed that Jie Tianran was the one channeling the formation.

“Damn it!”

Cang Li shoved the Heavenly Dragon World Spiritist aside and smashed his fist into the dark red barrier imprisoning Chu Feng and the other Netherworld Sect’s juniors. His punch was so strong that it caused shockwaves, but the barrier didn’t even shake.

The fury in Cang Li’s eyes blazed, but he didn’t continue attacking the barrier.

Instead, he took out a talisman paper and activated it. A spirit formation gate manifested.

He stepped into the spirit formation gate and entered a teleportation passageway. The teleportation passageway was quite short; it didn’t take him long to reach the other end, where he was transported into a vast spatial realm.

This spatial realm was located at the topmost region of the Undying Starfield. There was no scenery to be seen in this spatial realm. Rather, it was filled with formations and huge swathes of people, both from the Netherworld Sect and the Seven Realms Sacred Mansion.

Cang Li rushed to the center of the spatial realm, where the formation cores were located.

There were many Seven Realms Sacred Mansion’s world spiritists sitting in each of the formation cores, but there was only one person in the centermost formation core—Jie Tianran.

Jie Tianran’s eyes were shut. His left hand formed hand seals, while his right hand operated a golden compass. The golden compass was ancient and had a unique design. It was designed not for searching treasures but to probe formations.

Golden talisman papers emanating the Immemorial Era’s aura floated above Jie Tianran. Each one harnessed a powerful formation, making them extremely valuable, but there were over ten thousand of them gathered here.

Whenever Jie Tianran flicked his finger, a golden talisman would descend into the golden compass, and the golden compass would temporarily emit a mystical glow.

“Jie Tianran, release our Netherworld Sect’s juniors right now!” Cang Li roared at Jie Tianran.

Jie Tianran raised his head and glanced at Cang Li before closing his eyes once more. He continued forming hand seals while replying, “To think that you’re an elder in the Netherworld Sect. Can’t you tell that the barrier was made from your sacred item’s energy? What does it have to do with me?”

His impatient voice indicated that he had no respect for Cang Li whatsoever.

“I don’t care about that. It might be our sacred item’s energy, but you’re the one who caused it. You better find a solution right now!” Cang Li growled.

“My Seven Realms Sacred Mansion has come here to help you to awaken your sacred item. You can tell me directly if you don’t need our help. We’ll leave right away,” Jie Tianran said.

“Leave? Don’t even think about leaving until you have freed our juniors,” Cang Li spat coldly.

Everyone from the Seven Realms Sacred Mansion, except for Jie Tianran, directed displeased looks at Cang Li.

Just then, a figure flitted up to Cang Li. It was Baili Xukong.

“Lord Cang Li.” Even the esteemed leader of the new faction respectfully greeted Cang Li before continuing, “I know you’re worried about our juniors, but our juniors are still faring fine right now.”

Baili Xukong gestured toward an observation formation beneath them, which reflected the situation around the sacred item. Even though the juniors shrouded in the dark red barrier were clearly in pain, they didn’t seem to be in danger yet.

Except for the dark-skinned man.

“Look at that dark-skinned lad. He’s on the verge of death!” Cang Li pointed out.

“But the others are fine. That fellow from the conservative faction is probably weaker than the others. I hate to say this, but we’re dealing with the sacred item here. It’s inevitable that we’ll incur some sacrifices while trying to awaken it,” Baili Xukong said.

“So you also know that we’re dealing with the sacred item here, Baili Xukong. I’d be more than willing to die for its awakening, but can you guarantee that the Seven Realms Sacred Mansion can pull it off?” Cang Li asked.

Jie Tianran immediately replied, “The fact that I’m here shows that I’m confident.”

Cang Li pointed at Jie Tianran, wanting to say more, but Baili Xukong dragged him away.

“Lord Cang Li, I know you don’t trust the Seven Realms Sacred Mansion, but we have already tried everything to awaken the sacred item. If there was any other choice, we would have never sought their help. This is our last resort. We’re doing this for our Netherworld Sect’s future,” Baili Xukong told Cang Li via voice transmission.

“Baili Xukong, I don’t agree with how you do things, but I acknowledge your loyalty to the Netherworld Sect. However, Jie Tianran is a man blinded by ambition. He would kill even his daughter and his grandson if they stood in his way. Someone like him wouldn’t sincerely help our Netherworld Sect.

“We have tried everything to awaken the sacred item, and while we have never succeeded, we have never been attacked by the sacred item either. The sacred item belongs to us even though we’re unable to harness its powers. Unless blasphemed, there’s no reason for the sacred item to attack any of our sectmembers,” Cang Li revealed his thoughts via voice transmission.

He wasn’t just worried about the juniors. He had a feeling that something was amiss as well.

“Lord Cang Li, are you saying that the Seven Realms Sacred Mansion is secretly tampering with the sacred item without our knowledge, and that provoked its aggression?” Baili Xukong asked.

“What if Jie Tianran plants a gu inside the sacred item? That could become a huge disaster in the future even if we successfully awaken the sacred item and harness its power,” Cang Li said.

Baili Xukong frowned. That prompted him to take another look at the observation formation, which showed the trapped Netherworld Sect’s juniors.

He was no fool. In truth, he had already considered the possibility that Cang Li had proposed, but he went ahead with the plan because he trusted the sacred item. He didn’t believe that the Seven Realms Sacred Mansion could grasp control of it even if they tried.

That said, he still wouldn’t forgive the Seven Realms Sacred Mansion if they were up to something behind his back.

Uwa!

Just then, all the Netherworld Sect’s juniors trapped inside the red aura barrier, including Chu Feng and the dark-skinned man, grabbed their heads and screamed in pain. Even Chen Hui did the same.

As if they had been hypnotized, they kneeled, kowtowed to the sacred item, and spoke in unison, “Lord Sacred Item, please spare us. We merely wished to borrow your power. We didn’t mean to control you. Please spare us.”

Then, they kowtowed once more.

“What’s going on?”

The expressions of the Netherworld Sectmembers warped. Many of their experts stood up and surrounded the Seven Realms Sacred Mansion’s Heavenly Dragon World Spiritists. Something was clearly amiss.

The sacred item must have relayed some information to the juniors for them to apologize.

Cang Li pointed a finger at Jie Tianran and berated, “Look at what you have done, Jie Tianran! Are you trying to control our sect’s sacred item through your formation?”

Even Baili Xukong’s eyes turned cold. “I expect an explanation, Mansion Master.”

The Netherworld Sectmembers whipped out their weapons while eyeing the members of the Seven Realms Sacred Mansion in animosity.
