Chapter 768: Chapter 384: An Eighth Grade Spiritual Vein Advances to Ninth Grade
The large number of Soul Slaves watching from a distance were all dumbfounded.
Cheng Zongyang could sense that the erupting Spiritual Qi was purer and more powerful than that from the previous Eighth Grade Spiritual Vein.
A look of delighted surprise instantly appeared on his face. He knew his experiment had succeeded.
The two Eighth Grade Spiritual Veins had devoured each other, forming a single, more powerful Spiritual Vein.
Although this Spiritual Vein had not yet fully formed, he could sense that it held immense potential.
"Ring Spirit, did it work?" Cheng Zongyang asked, suppressing his excitement as he kept his Divine Sense fixed on the Underground Spiritual Vein.
"Yes," the Ring Spirit responded. "It is digesting and adapting. This process will likely take some time, after which its Spiritual Nature will be greatly enhanced."
"Good." Cheng Zongyang laughed. "Then let’s keep going! What about the other three?"
He still had three, enough to form one Ninth Grade vein. ’But if I use three of them in a battle-royale-style process, will the resulting Spiritual Vein be even better?’
"It would indeed be stronger. The level above a Spiritual Vein is an Immortal Spirit Vein, which contains Immortal Spirit Qi. But we can’t achieve that here," the Ring Spirit responded.
"Doesn’t matter. The only way to know is to try. Just thinking about it is useless." Cheng Zongyang found another spot and placed the three remaining Eighth Grade Spiritual Vein Dharma Pearls underground in a triangular formation to see if he could create a Ninth Grade Spiritual Vein that was even better than the first one.
As the three new Eighth Grade Spiritual Veins were buried underground and unsealed, that subtle fluctuation appeared once more.
Underground, the situation was much like before, but this time it was far more straightforward.
The Spiritual Qi from the three Eighth Grade Spiritual Veins began to intertwine, collide, merge, tear at each other, devour, and fight back against being devoured...
Cheng Zongyang could feel that this battle was even more intense than the previous one.
Through his Divine Sense, he could tell that the amount of Spiritual Qi escaping this time was far greater than what had been released during the formation of the first vein.
As time went on, the Spiritual Qi fluctuations grew increasingly intense. The three Eighth Grade Spiritual Veins descended into a chaotic melee far more quickly than the first pair had.
Waves of rumbling echoed endlessly. In Cheng Zongyang’s view, the Spiritual Qi vortexes that appeared from time to time likely represented the individual Spiritual Veins.
The appearance of a vortex might have signified the devouring pull generated when one vein gained the upper hand, only for the process to be interrupted.
These two Spiritual Vein "brawls" were a real eye-opener for Cheng Zongyang, teaching him a great deal.
Time ticked by, second by second. The "three-way" battle was taking far longer than the one-on-one had.
Cheng Zongyang was in no hurry. He simply kept his Divine Sense focused on the scene and waited.
But gradually, Cheng Zongyang felt that something was amiss. He could sense a new aura rapidly approaching.
When he spread his Divine Sense, he was shocked to discover that the Ninth Grade Spiritual Vein—the one that was supposed to be digesting—had actually rushed over. ℯ
"Holy shit!!" Cheng Zongyang’s eyes widened in disbelief.
Clearly, the Ninth Grade Spiritual Vein had been drawn over by the "scent of blood." Its level of Spiritual Nature was far beyond that of an Eighth Grade!
This Secret Realm wasn’t very large to begin with. A single Ninth Grade Spiritual Vein was basically enough to cover the whole area. But the newly created Ninth Grade Spiritual Vein hadn’t even finished digesting and solidifying before three Eighth Grade Spiritual Veins suddenly appeared.
It was like a tiger, just having finished a huge meal and about to digest it, suddenly discovering three wolves in its territory.
Ordinarily, it wouldn’t have cared, as the tiger was full and still digesting. But the tiger’s spiritual instincts told it that devouring them would make it stronger and allow it to eliminate a potential threat ahead of time.
And so, it came!
