Chapter 47: A New Path to Power

Chapter 47: Chapter 47: A New Path to Power

Ye Xuan formed a hand seal and activated the Basic Comprehension Technique.

He allowed the essence of the Myriad Eye Technique to be absorbed into his body so he could study and understand it.

Meanwhile, Qingyu used the Minor Thundergrass to cultivate. At present, she was at the Mid Spirit-Beast stage.

With so many medicinal herbs, Qingyu’s chances of breaking through to the next stage had increased considerably.

Inside Ye Xuan’s dantian, his consciousness observed the characters of the technique.

Having already gained experience understanding more difficult techniques, he took advantage of this opportunity to maximize his comprehension of the Myriad Eye Technique.

If what Senior Wang had said was true, the abilities of the Myriad Eyes would be far more useful than its current stage suggested.

With this technique alone, Ye Xuan could assess the quality of an item by examining the traces of qi aura emanating from it.

That way, he would never again have to worry about repeating his mistake of buying a large number of useless scrolls.

He made the most of his time by concentrating on the Myriad Eye Technique.

However, he soon realized that it was not as difficult as the Ninefold Lightning Scripture or the other Yellow-Stage techniques.

Less than an hour later, Ye Xuan opened his eyes and released a wave of qi throughout the surrounding area.

Qingyu, who had been focused on absorbing energy from the Minor Thundergrass, was startled. She even stopped cultivating for a moment.

[What’s wrong? Did you manage to learn it?]

"Yes. It was much easier than I expected," Ye Xuan replied.

[Really? You should test its abilities, Ye Xuan.]

Ye Xuan followed Qingyu’s suggestion. He straightened his posture and walked toward the cave entrance.

Raising one hand in front of his chest, he briefly closed his eyes before opening them again as the Myriad Eye Technique activated.

"Myriad Eyes."

Both of Ye Xuan’s pupils began to form abstract, circular patterns. The patterns were green.

The effect was remarkable. His eyes could now clearly perceive the flow of spiritual qi, even when it was circulating inside someone’s body.

"It worked."

He turned around and looked at Qingyu. Through the white serpent’s body, Ye Xuan could see her spiritual qi flowing steadily.

He could see more than just spiritual qi. He could also observe the qi aura emanating from Qingyu’s body, which resembled a blazing flame.

However, instead of red, its color was blue, matching the natural color of spiritual qi.

"I can clearly see your qi aura as well, not just your spiritual qi," Ye Xuan remarked.

[Other cultivators can see qi aura too, as long as their target has a lower cultivation base than they do.]

"I know that, but I feel like my vision is different."

[What about its ability to assess the quality of items?]

"I’ll give it a try."

Ye Xuan patted his bag of holding and took out two Mortal-Stage technique scrolls. He focused his eyes on them, but nothing changed.

No qi aura emanated from either scroll, unlike what Wang Shuyuan had described.

What Ye Xuan saw was no different from what he had seen when purchasing them at the auction pagoda.

"Unfortunately, it didn’t work," Ye Xuan said.

[Senior Wang mentioned that this technique has three volumes. Perhaps the first volume you’ve learned only grants you these abilities.]

[You should trust that the second and third volumes might offer something different.]

"What you’re saying might be true, but the real problem is where I can find the second and third volumes of the Myriad Eye Technique."

[You need to be patient and keep trying. You’re not the chosen child of Heaven. They won’t simply hand them to you like gifts.]

Ye Xuan sighed softly and deactivated the eye technique, returning his pupils to their normal appearance.

Qingyu was right. He shouldn’t rush to find the second and third volumes. He would let time take its course.

[There are two other Mortal-Stage techniques you can learn while waiting for me to finish consuming all this Minor Thundergrass.]

"Right, the Qi Weapon Manipulation Technique and the Qi Cultivation Enlightenment Technique."

With nothing else to do, Ye Xuan decided to resume his training and study the two Mortal-Stage techniques.

Judging from their names, he could tell that the first was a combat technique, while the second was a cultivation technique.

He had once read records in the Sky Cloud Sect explaining that different cultivation techniques produced different effects on the absorption of qi.

Until now, he had always practiced the sect’s Worldly Qi Cultivation Technique and had never studied another cultivation technique.

Perhaps today was the perfect opportunity to test the effectiveness of the Qi Cultivation Enlightenment Technique.

He repeated the same process, maintaining the same high level of concentration.

Just like the Myriad Eye Technique, neither of the two Mortal-Stage techniques was particularly difficult to learn.

However, before Ye Xuan could finish comprehending them, he was interrupted when he sensed a powerful burst of qi coming from ahead.

His eyes opened again, and he saw Qingyu’s body beginning to emit a brilliant light.

He watched the scene unfold and decided to let her complete her breakthrough without interference.

Several stalks of Minor Thundergrass remained unabsorbed when the white serpent broke through.

Ye Xuan collected them all and placed them back in his bag of holding.

Not long afterward, a final burst of energy erupted with tremendous force, accompanied by a powerful gust of wind.

The light surrounding Qingyu’s body gradually faded, and her eyes slowly opened.

As Ye Xuan watched her, the Infinite Return System panel appeared once again after a long absence.

[Congratulations! You have given three items to your partner.]

[Items given:]

[85x Minor Thundergrass]

[Items returned:]

[8500x Minor Thundergrass]

[Multiplication Level: 1]

[Affection: 240/1000] [+25]

[Daily use of Infinite Return exhausted: 1/3]

[Warning! The seal has been damaged.]

[Seal remaining: 72%]

Ye Xuan still remembered that approximately 76% of the seal suppressing Qingyu’s original power had remained.

However, thanks to her breakthrough, the remaining seal had decreased by another 4%.

That was a considerable reduction compared to the previous amount.

Even so, Ye Xuan was still far from reaching the affection milestone required to increase his Multiplication Level.

After Qingyu consumed only 85 stalks of Minor Thundergrass, the system returned a hundredfold amount.

The quantity had now increased dramatically to 8,500 stalks.

However, the higher Qingyu’s cultivation base became, the less effective Minor Thundergrass would be.

For now, these medicinal herbs could still help her. But once she broke through to the Early Profound-Beast stage, Minor Thundergrass alone would no longer be effective.

One black pouch after another appeared, totaling 85 pouches, each containing 100 stalks of Minor Thundergrass.

Ye Xuan stored them all for Qingyu’s future use. The difference this time was that he could no longer see Qingyu’s qi aura clearly, unlike before.

"Could it be that you’ve already reached the peak of the Spirit-Beast stage?" Ye Xuan asked.

[Yes. It seems I’ve reached Peak Spirit-Beast.]

"So that’s why I can only see your qi aura faintly."

"Since your strength and cultivation are now one stage above mine, I should try using the Myriad Eye Technique again."

He raised his hand to chest level and briefly closed his eyes before opening them as the Myriad Eye Technique activated once more.

"Myriad Eyes!"

Green circular patterns appeared in both of Ye Xuan’s pupils.

This time, he could see the qi aura emanating from Qingyu’s body much more clearly. The difference was remarkable compared to when he wasn’t using the technique.

"I can see it now. It seems this technique is limited to perceiving spiritual qi and a person’s qi aura."

[That’s good. This ability will help you assess and analyze your enemies, preventing you from fighting someone whose cultivation base is higher than yours.]

Ye Xuan extended his hand, and Qingyu understood the gesture. The white serpent immediately slithered onto his hand and coiled her tail around it.

"Until now, I’ve been the only one growing and becoming stronger, while you’ve only been increasing your cultivation base."

"I’ll certainly protect you, but I don’t want you to feel as though you’re falling behind me."

"Tell me, is there anything I can do to help you become stronger?"

Qingyu fell silent for a moment, keeping her eyes on Ye Xuan while occasionally letting out a soft hiss.

[There is.]

"What is it?"

[Python possess an innate devouring ability. I can acquire different powers by devouring their cores.]

"You want me to... kill cultivators?"

[Human cultivation techniques don’t work for me. I would call it absorbing the life cores of members of other beast races.]

[That way, their abilities will become mine as well.]

Ye Xuan fell silent for a moment before giving a brief nod of agreement.

"Who do you want me to kill? And which beast race do they belong to?"

[The Northern Wind Eagle Tribe.]
