Chapter 46: Chapter 46: The Value of Forgotten Scrolls

Realizing this, Ye Xuan had no choice but to keep the technique.

He had briefly considered throwing it away, but for some reason, his heart stirred, and he found himself more inclined to keep it than discard it.

Ye Xuan immediately clasped his hands together and bowed his head, paying his respects to Senior Wang. He then stored the scroll back in his bag of holding.

After showing Senior Wang the scroll, Ye Xuan began bringing out the wooden boxes containing the scrolls he had sorted.

He placed all four boxes in front of him, then raised his hand and pulled out the scrolls one by one.

Wang Shuyuan turned around and was astonished by the sight. He stepped forward and arrived before the scrolls Ye Xuan had laid out.

"Besides that demonic scroll, you also bought all these seemingly useless scrolls, Brother Ye?"

"I didn’t want to leave the auction pagoda empty-handed. I thought there might be something worth finding among these scrolls," Ye Xuan replied.

Senior Wang raised a hand to his chin, briefly examining the scrolls in each wooden box.

As he inspected them, Wang Shuyuan also explained his thoughts on their contents.

"Most of these scrolls are nowhere near as valuable as that demonic technique," Senior Wang said. "I wouldn’t even consider learning these formations. They’re all garbage."

Ye Xuan listened and nodded in agreement. Wang Shuyuan stopped in front of the wooden box containing the technique scrolls.

He examined them more carefully and picked out several scrolls without any elemental coloration. There were three in total, all gray.

"These three techniques are quite interesting. Although they’re only Mortal-Stage techniques, their power can increase alongside the user’s cultivation base," Wang Shuyuan explained.

He extended his hand and passed the three Mortal-Stage technique scrolls to Ye Xuan.

They were the Qi Weapon Manipulation Technique, the Qi Cultivation Enlightenment Technique, and the Myriad Eye Technique.

"You should pay particular attention to the Myriad Eye Technique. It will be extremely useful if you can find all three volumes."

"What you have now is the first volume."

"What can the Myriad Eye Technique do?" Ye Xuan asked.

"I once read accounts from several cultivators. The Myriad Eye Technique allows its user to see the quality of items and weapons without opening or examining them," Wang Shuyuan replied.

"Perhaps, if you manage to collect all three volumes, you’ll be able to see weaknesses in attacks, defenses, and formations. That would be a great help to you."

Ye Xuan fell silent for a moment, continuing to examine the three technique scrolls in his hands.

He immediately stored them in his bag of holding, allowing Wang Shuyuan to focus on inspecting the final two wooden boxes.

Just as he had with the box containing formation scrolls, Wang Shuyuan paid little attention to the box containing pill recipe scrolls.

He explained that the pill recipes were copies of those belonging to various sects or cultivators.

As such, they weren’t particularly special compared to technique scrolls, since Ye Xuan could find plenty of similar copies in supply shops.

Wang Shuyuan stopped in front of the wooden box containing the maps.

Compared to the scrolls in the other three boxes, there were far fewer maps. Only twelve were inside.

Even so, Senior Wang immediately brought all twelve maps before his face. Ye Xuan remained standing where he was, waiting for the man’s response.

Wang Shuyuan promptly set seven of the maps aside.

"These are useless. They’re nothing more than maps of other cities and kingdoms."

Five maps remained before him, and he handed them all to Ye Xuan. The young man extended his hands and accepted them.

Wang Shuyuan returned to his seat, sat cross-legged, and resumed cultivating. His attention remained fixed on Ye Xuan.

"Three of these maps are incomplete, while the other two depict specific locations," Wang Shuyuan explained.

"Even so, all five are more valuable than the seven I set aside. You might be able to find something worthwhile."

Ye Xuan turned his attention to the two complete maps and asked whether their contents were accurate.

Unfortunately, Senior Wang could only shake his head.

He explained that he had never seen these maps before and knew nothing about their origins.

However, judging by the locations depicted on them, he was fairly certain they led to treasures valuable to cultivators.

"The reason I consider these maps valuable is that one of the locations lies within the Eastern Mist Mountains."

"Among cultivators, that region is famous for its mysterious nature. It’s said to be inhabited by numerous dangerous monsters and to be an ideal place for demonic cultivators to practice their cultivation in seclusion," Wang Shuyuan explained.

"The other map points to the Red Desert Plains of Xuejong. If I remember correctly, there were once rumors about the Great Flame Emperor’s Palace being located there, but no one ever discovered its exact location."

"So, Senior Wang is telling me that these maps lead to treasures hidden in those two places. Am I right?" Ye Xuan asked.

"More or less."

"But given how mysterious both places are, I suggest you wait until you reach the Golden Core Realm before going there. By then, your soul will be stronger and your body more resilient, allowing you to fight for extended periods," Wang Shuyuan explained.

Ye Xuan hadn’t expected to gain so much information from Wang Shuyuan.

Aside from the Demonic Finger Manifestation, he had also learned about the three techniques and discovered the potential value of the two maps.

Ye Xuan clasped his hands together and bowed his head, expressing his gratitude to Senior Wang for helping him sort through the scrolls and identify those worth keeping.

Senior Wang smiled faintly. "Many things can influence a person’s Heavenly Destiny. While you’re still a Foundation Establishment cultivator, go out and explore this world."

"Joining a sect has its benefits, but don’t become too attached to one if you don’t want your path to be restricted."

"This junior understands completely and will heed your advice, Senior," Ye Xuan replied.

He bid farewell to Wang Shuyuan and walked away from the golden pagoda.

Ye Xuan stopped in the courtyard outside, his gaze fixed straight ahead, toward the golden pagoda beyond the dome-shaped formation barrier.

[What are you going to do now?]

"Senior Wang told me about those three techniques, especially the Myriad Eye Technique."

"Perhaps I’ll try learning it and see what it can do."

[All right.]

Ye Xuan left the place by stepping into the teleportation formation.

The moment he stood on it, his body vanished in an instant and reappeared inside the cave where he had been hiding.

The teleportation token deactivated, and Ye Xuan stored it back in his bag of holding. However, he immediately took out the Myriad Eye Technique scroll.

Qingyu leaped from Ye Xuan’s neck and landed on the ground. She raised her head, hissed softly, and continued staring at the young man.

Noticing her behavior, Ye Xuan asked, "What is it?"

[I want to cultivate. Do you still have any Minor Thundergrass?]

"I still have quite a lot, but don’t you want to use the Heavenly Lightning Essence?" Ye Xuan asked.

[Not for now. I need that medicinal herb to increase my chances of evolving and breaking through.]

[The Heavenly Lightning Essence can help me too, but its lightning qi is too dominant. I don’t think it would be very effective right now.]

"All right," Ye Xuan said.

He took out a bag containing one hundred stalks of Minor Thundergrass. Qingyu accepted the herbs and crushed the bag, causing all one hundred stalks to float around her.

It’s time for me to figure out how this Myriad Eye Technique works!
